Review: Annabelle Knight Whoosh! Rocket Vibrator

If Annabelle Knight Whoosh! Rocket Vibratoryou’re a customer of Lovehoney, then you might have noticed that the majority of product pages feature a video which shows how the product works. Annabelle Knight is often the woman presenting these videos and many would say she’s something of an expert in the sex and relationships field. She even has her own toy range which is available exclusively at Lovehoney and this review is covering the latest addition, the Whoosh! Rocket.

The first thing I have to mention is props for the packaging. I am really impressed with the way that the packaging for her range has been designed. It’s  non-intimidating, friendly and simply beautiful. The image on the front was illustrated based on an actual photo of Annabelle and this process can be seen during the first series of Frisky Business. Inside the box, the vibrator, the four separate heads and a small information leaflet are nicely stored in a plastic case.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this product, especially as other products like this one can feel quite cheap, but this one has a lovely smooth surface. It is made entirely from ABS plastic, which is of course rigid, sturdy and soft to the touch. It has no drag to it whatsoever which makes it extremely comfortable to hold, even for longer periods of time. As the Whoosh! is not designed for internal use, the head of the vibrator doesn’t have to be lubricated, but if you wish to do so for additional comfort, then water-based is what you’ll need. In regards to cleaning, this toy is only splash proof, so it cannot be submerged in water but a quick rinse (providing the cap is on tightly) should be fine. I personally prefer to use toy cleaner and a damp cloth, with an old toothbrush to remove fluids from the textured heads.

I was pleased to discover that the battery compartment of this vibrator is easy to open as I’m not the strongest of people and I really struggled with the compartment on the version by Lovehoney Basics. That it takes is a gentle twist to reveal the compartment, where one double A battery is then placed inside. There is a piece of paper directing the placement of the battery inside, which I think is always a helpful touch. Once it has been placed correctly, screw the base back on firmly to begin.

This pocket rocket is operated via a single button on the base, so it’s really easy to understand and use. A quick tap of this button turns the toy on, starting the vibrations. Each further tap will cycle through the available functions, where it will then turn itself off once it has reached the end of the cycle. There is unfortunately no other turn off feature on this toy such as pressing and holding for a few seconds, which is one of my only criticisms.

I decided to try this out with just the metal prongs to begin with whilst I got a feel for the type and strength of the vibrations. I applied a small amount of water-based lubricant to the tips and placed the toy against my clitoris with a reasonable amount of pressure. I didn’t think much of the first vibration setting, because I couldn’t really feel anything, but the second was more noticeable and the third was a definite improvement. I would say that the second speed verges on being rumbly, which I wasn’t expecting from the toy considering the battery source and price point. I can’t help but enjoy this setting, despite it not being powerful enough for me to orgasm with. The third vibration is more on the buzzy side, but it does have the power increase that I need to potentially orgasm with.

I then decided to try out the four heads and out of these, I have two prominent favourites. The first is the completely smooth, rounded head and the second is the head with the circle of spikes. I like the rounded head primarily when using the third speed as the barrier of protection seems to hold back some of the buzziness coming from the vibrations. I have found myself feeling numb and starting to lose sensitivity if I’m just using the metal prongs, so the rounded head is perfect for this speed. I use it during sex to prevent a clitoral orgasm happening too soon without completely denying myself of the opportunity to have one.

The circled spiked head is great for providing pinpoint precision, which is generally my preference with clitoral vibrators. I like how well the vibrations travel through the head and again, the buzziness is held back thanks to the small barrier. I use this head on the vibrator during solo time for a quick, reliable orgasm. This is the head that I go to if I’m looking for an orgasm with this toy as I can get there in just over five minutes, whereas the other heads or metal prongs can take around 15-20.

Alongside the three speeds, the Whoosh! also has four patterns. None of the patterns did anything for me, but I’m not a huge fan of these functions at the best of times. I’d class these settings as typical for the price point, but a nice variety for those who do enjoy these types of functions. It has fast-paced buzzing, slow buzzing and two different pulsations. These settings are louder than the constant vibrations, but not by much. A closed-door can easily disguise the sound that this vibrator makes, so it’s great for those who need discretion and want to take this toy travelling.

Overall, I think this would be a fantastic starting point for those who are new to vibrations, are looking for something versatile or simply want an inexpensive toy to travel with. It’s a basic vibe, but I can see it being an essential in a beginners kit. It’s non-intimidating, couple-friendly and easy to understand. A toy like this is a great way to begin the discovery of what your body likes and dislikes. I’d be happy to recommend it as it’s well-made and has a decent level of strength, although I’d advise you to be aware of the buzziness if this is something you’re not fond of.
