A few weeks ago, I was offered the chance to review a product for Blush Novelties. I had never tried one of their products before and thought it was about time I did, so I happily took them up on the offer. I fell in love with several products whilst browsing their site, but I eventually decided on the Ergo Mini, which is a dual density dildo from their Real Nude line. The Ergo Mini is available in Violet, Toffee, Almond and Indigo, which is the one that I opted for.
I was slightly worried after seeing a few of my fellow bloggers receiving packages with Blush Novelties printed across the side, but thankfully, mine turned up discreetly. It arrived in a plain cardboard box, with their name only mentioned in small print on the customs information, which is fine. The packaging for the product itself was rather nice, it was securely sealed inside a plastic clam shell that featured some easy to read information about the toy. It comes with an included storage bag also, which was a nice touch and gratefully received by me. A sex toy reviewer can never have too much dildo storage.
The Ergo Mini is made from a super smooth, luxurious-feeling silicone which is body-safe and phthalate free. This toy is dual density as I mentioned earlier and you can feel the firm inner core towards the bottom of the shaft, whilst the head and upper half of the shaft remain soft, squishy and offer some flexibility. Whilst playing around with the flexibility, I noticed that this silicone doesn’t have much of a drag to it, it’s rather minimal and almost unnoticeable. A tiny amount of water-based lubricant is more than enough for me to use this toy comfortably. Some people might find they don’t need to use lubricant at all, thanks to its petite size and silky shaft.
This is the only mini version in this range, but it’s actually not much smaller than the regular Ergo. It has an overall length of 7.2 inches with 5 being insertable and a maximum circumference of 4 inches. The regular Ergo has six inches of insertable length and a circumference of 5 inches. The Ergo Mini would be great for beginners to penetration, whether that’s vaginal or anal. It’s also perfect as a warm-up toy or for those who just prefer slimmer insertables. I can’t personally test this out for pegging, but I think it has potential to be perfect for this sort of play. It is harness compatible, so all that would be needed is a suitable O ring. It’s nice and slim, with no texture, making it an ideal candidate for back door play.
The Ergo Mini has a suction cup which is advertised as strong, but it doesn’t seem to stick that well to most surfaces, even when applied with some pressure. I found it only really stuck to the tiles in the bathroom. So whilst this makes hands free shower fun an option, I prefer to use it in the old fashioned manual way. I find it easier this way, due to the flexibility of the Ergo Mini, as riding it hands-free seems to allow it to slip/bend mid-insertion. I’ve taken to holding midway down the shaft to avoid this happening and once it’s in, it stays put.
The Ergo Mini is a wonderful toy for quick thrusting and g-spot battering. It isn’t curved enough to provide a g-spot orgasm, but it’s able to find it and warm it up for later in the session. I find this to be a great warm-up toy in general, whether that’s for vaginal or anal play. It’s also fantastic when combined with a great clitoral vibrator and the outcome is usually the desired blended orgasm.
It’s rare for me to orgasm through penetration alone, 90% of the time I am in the category of not being able to do so, but I have managed to orgasm with the Ergo Mini when using it for anal penetration, even without clitoral stimulation. I haven’t managed to do so vaginally, but plenty of blended orgasms have been had, so it’s a win-win situation. Anal play seems to be the best way to use this toy for me, which I wasn’t actually expecting, but I’m more than happy to continue to explore this toy and see what else I can get from it in the coming months.
It doesn’t attract as much lint as other silicone toys that I have, but it still requires a quick rinse before each use, as it still picks up cat hairs (where do they all come from?!). Cleaning is easy, simply spritz the dildo with toy cleaner, rinse and leave to dry. Remember to give the toy a thorough clean if you’re switching orifices or partners, never go from back to front without cleaning it first.
Overall, I really like the Blush Novelties Real Nude Ergo Mini, but I wasn’t expecting to like it in the way that I do. It’s become the perfect anal toy for me and I enjoy using this alone or with my partner. I do wish that the suction cup was a little stronger, but this is only a minor niggle. After my experience with the Ergo Mini, I’m left wanting to try more from the Real Nude line, particularly the Suko and the Helio.
