Share Our Shit Saturday – Week One #SOSS

So, I’m late on this one as things have been hectic the past few weeks but I felt that it was important for me to start pitching in with this new weekly roundup of my fellow bloggers posts. One of the best in the biz, Girl on the Net, recently wrote about her frustrations with social media policies and their attitudes towards the sex community. This is not a new problem, social media has always attempted to keep erotic authors, cam models, sex bloggers, sex educators, adult film stars (plus many more) on the back burner.

You would think that people would be more accepting of a sex positive, resourceful community in late 2017 but this is unfortunately not the case. Open conversations on sex, relationships, anatomy and health should be the social norm and welcomed. Sex is one of the most natural things on the planet and it’s something that a large percentage of the world’s population engage in. So why the hell aren’t we allowed and encouraged to discuss it in a safe environment where it will reach and help more people?

I don’t have an appropriate answer to hand over but I can assure you that our voices will never be silenced. We blog, write and review because this is something we are passionate about, it helps us deal with our personal traumas, it allows us to share our experiences so people don’t feel alone when they encounter something new and scary, it enables us to provide answers to questions that people may want to ask but can’t elsewhere for whatever reason and most of all we do this because we care.

The Share Our Shit Saturday hashtag was created as a way of supporting each other, getting people’s voices heard and introducing people to new content that they might love. If you enjoy reading a bloggers posts please consider sharing them on social media. The more people who step forward to say “hey, this post was useful – check it out!” the more our voices will be valued and hopefully one day, respected, and welcomed with open arms. A simple share that takes two seconds may help us show social media platforms that we deserve to be recognized and acknowledged.

With all of that said and done, let’s get stuck in to the posts that I’ve been loving this week!

I am an exhausted Feminist by Isabelle Lauren.

I resonated with this post so strongly because I too am exhausted. This post covers some thoughts on the recent #MeToo campaign and the feelings that it has unearthed for those who’ve had something to discuss, share or think about through this hashtag. It talks triggers, constantly feeling the need to explain ourselves and defend our decisions to speak up or stay quiet. It’s a really heartfelt post that struck several cords with me and it definitely had to be one of my favourites this week.

Erotic Advent Calendar Review by Scanderella.

We checked out Lovehoney’s advent calendar last year and although we didn’t write much about it here, it was tons of fun to explore. It has been great to relive that experience and see what Orion included in their erotic calendar this year through the eyes of Scanderella. This review is being updated daily with the contents behind each door and a few thoughts on the product inside. I know I’m going to be continuing to check back each day to see what other surprises it has and so should you!

Paddle Ex Animo with Hearts Review by Joanne’s Reviews.

I’ve been a big fan of Joanne’s Reviews for some time now and they are my go-to blog when I’m looking for reviews on products that might be a little bit different. This week I noticed this review on my timeline and was drawn in by the beautiful product shots. The detailed feedback that Joanne gives in this review would be incredibly helpful to anybody who’s looking at purchasing this product or anything similar to it. If you’ve been looking for a paddle that may be able to induce orgasms from the sensations alone then Joanne may have just found it for you!

Rocks Off Purple Heart Review by Petra Pan.

Hearts seem to have caught my attention once again this week as I thoroughly enjoyed reading Petra Pan’s guest review of the Rocks Off Purple Heart over at RandomRedRose. The shape of this vibrator was rather intriguing to me and it was great to find out that it could be used for multiple types of stimulation. I like both pinpoint and broad stimulation so this review made me think that I should take a look at this toy myself as it may just work for me too.

Win a Doxy Number Three For Free! by Cara Sutra.

Now there has been multiple exciting giveaways popping up on my news feed this week as everyone  has been getting into the festive season and wanting to thank the people who read/support their blogs but this one grabbed my attention instantly. A lot of people in the blogging community rave about Doxy and their Number 3 Wand has to be one of the most coveted products this year by far. I almost reached into my pockets before I’d got people’s gifts this year after reading Cara’s review as it sounds too good to not own – but then I spotted that she’d managed to wrangle one to giveaway. Good luck to all who are entering – fingers crossed!

So that’s all for my first contribution to Share Our Shit Saturday but I’ll be back next week with another roundup of my favourite reviews, articles and giveaways. Have a great weekend all! x

Reviews Elsewhere: PleasurePanel September & October 2017

If you have heard of our fellow blogger and sex industry legend, Cara Sutra, then you may have heard about their Pleasure Panel project. This gives bloggers, reviewers and general toy enthusiasts the chance to write product reviews that are placed on her popular site. We have been part of this project for a while now and have decided to start posting snippets of those reviews here so you can keep up with what we’ve been reviewing elsewhere on the web. We have combined September and October’s posts for this round-up and there’s a total of six products to talk about so let’s get stuck in!

Romant Amber Voice Activated Vibrator

In September we received just the one product to try out but it was an exciting one. The Romant Amber Voice Activated Vibrator from Honour. We were very intrigued by the concept of voice activation as it’s something we hadn’t explored before but did it impress us? Not particularly. Here’s a snippet: “I don’t know whether I expected too much from the technology behind this vibrator or whether it’s just an average toy with a cool feature but it didn’t wow me.”

Amoremeo Salted Caramel Massage Gel

Then came the October round and boy did Cara spoil us! We received five products for review in this round and up first was the Amoremeo Salted Caramel Kissable Massage Gel. You may recall us reviewing the Amoremeo Vanilla Massage Gel earlier on in 2017, so we’ve now tried both flavours and have contrasting opinions. I initially wasn’t sure about this scent but here’s a preview of what I thought in the end: “It was surprisingly pleasant to me and I found myself thinking that it would be perfect for the festive season.”

Give Lube #Selfie Masturbation Cream

Next up was the Give Lube #Selfie Masturbation Cream. My partner has now tried a handful of masturbation creams and lubricants and they seem to be getting better each time. This was a raging success with him and almost scored top marks. Here’s a brief overview of his feedback: “It’s more than thick enough to provide a level of comfort and glide that wouldn’t be possible with water-based options and could be a game changer for penis owners who’ve never tried a hybrid mix before.”

Give Lube Noir Silicone Lubricant

We are an interracial couple that have different skin needs so when I spotted the Give Lube Noir Silicone Lubricant on October’s listing I eagerly volunteered on his behalf. This lubricant was designed with black skin in mind and as my partner is mixed race I thought he’d be a good candidate to trial it. This received top marks from both of us and will be a staple in our collection from now on. From the review: “I’m really happy with the way my partner reacted to this lube and I love that the needs of black skin are now being well catered for.”

System JO Warm and Buzzy Clitoral Stimulant

System JO’s For Her Warm and Buzzy Clitoral Stimulant was one of my top choices during this round as I’m a sucker for orgasm enhancers. I haven’t had all positive experiences with this brand in the past but this product was great although some extra intensity wouldn’t have gone amiss. “If this is applied to the clitoris and left to warm up for a few moments before a vibrator is introduced then the area is more sensitive and results in more intense reactions to the vibrations.”

System JO Premium Jelly Silicone Based Lubricant

Finally, the System JO Premium Jelly Silicone Based Lubricant landed on our doorstep. As sex toy reviewers, bloggers and lube enthusiasts we can never have enough options. This is one of the best affordable silicone lubricants on the market at the moment in our opinion. It got top marks from us and we’d highly recommend this to our fellow silicone lube lovers. I think this one is best summed up by one simple sentence from the review: “System JO have definitely stepped up their game and done a great job creating this product.”

Reviews Elsewhere: Pleasure Panel August 2017

As you may know, we have been part of Cara Sutra’s Pleasure Panel for a while now so I thought I would start posting snippets of our reviews here so people can catch up on what we’ve been reviewing elsewhere. In August, we received three products to review for the Pleasure Panel.

Wicked Aqua Pink Lemonade Flavoured Lubricant

The first product we reviewed this month was the Wicked Aqua Pink Lemonade Flavoured Lubricant. We love trying new lubricants and this one was definitely a hit for us. Its one of my partners favourites and his most requested choice at the moment. Here is a short extract from our review: “He finds many flavoured lubricants artificial and tacky in taste, but he said that this one was more subtle, less chemical and pretty spot on with what it was supposed to taste like.”

Wicked Creme Masturbation Cream

The second product we reviewed this month was another from the brand Wicked. This time it was the Creme Masturbation Cream. A coconut oil, silicone and water based mix that sounded like it wouldn’t work in theory, but definitely did in practice. Here’s a short snippet from the full review: “He feels that the Wicked Crème Masturbation Cream provides a smooth, easy-sailing slip and slide that lasts much longer than any lubricating product he has used in the past.”

We-Vibe Wish

Last but not least, we tried out the We-Vibe Wish. I was most excited for this one as it’s no secret that I adore this brand. It took me on somewhat of a journey and is one of a handful of exceptions to my ‘I hate patterned vibrations’ tendencies. Here’s a preview: “All ten settings are patterned and as these are settings I tend to avoid I thought I’d ended up with something unusable. That was until I discovered the PowerPulse settings, the first three modes on the We-Vibe Wish.”

Huge thanks to Cara Sutra for allowing us to take part in August’s Pleasure Panel Round and an additional thank you to the companies who sent in the products for testing. If you are a member of the Pleasure Panel or would like to be, be sure to check out Cara’s Patreon and pledge what you can!
