Review: Cottelli Collection Costumes Maids Dress

Sometimes it’s gratifying to dress up as someone else, whether that’s to get away from the dramas of real life for a while, mix things up in the bedroom or engage in scenes and situations that wouldn’t usually happen in your real life. Role playing is a safe way to explore fantasies and play different characters as well as being the perfect excuse to wear sexy costumes that otherwise wouldn’t have a place in your closet. One of our favourite roles to play around with is the maid/butler fantasy as there are numerous ways in which these scenes can be played out and we have lots of fun thinking of new ideas. As a result, there is always space in our collection for a new outfit and if anything, that challenges us to tweak our scenarios each time so that the fantasy never becomes repetitive.

Our latest wardrobe addition is this gorgeous Maid’s Dress from Cottelli’s Costume Collection. It arrived in a glossy cardboard sleeve which was placed over the top of a patterned box. The sleeve gives a front and back view of the dress, shown on a stunning model, and includes a basic material rundown. For those wondering, this outfit is made up of 90% polyester and 10% elastane. Inside the patterned box I found the dress and apron neatly folded in separate pouches. I instantly removed the tags from both pieces as they are large and quite visible through the materials so I knew they’d bother me.

Quality of costumes, lingerie and hosiery is seriously important to me and a major factor I take into account when purchasing and recommending pieces so I hoped that Cottelli’s costume line would be as well-made as their other ranges. I was not left feeling disappointed as the dress felt great. It had been put together perfectly with no noticeable flaws or imperfections and I have no complaints to make regarding the materials used. The apron features soft lace around the edges, smooth satin ribbons and a glossy shine that makes the rest of the outfit glow and once again, I can find nothing to moan about.

To get in and out of this outfit, simply undo the buttons that run down the front then slip it over your head or step into it. I like garments that are quick to get into as this means I can pull them on quickly if I decide to surprise my partner or don’t have much time to get changed. Once the buttons are all done up, the apron can be added. It ribbon ties around the waist so can be adjusted as much as necessary which is great news for me as I need it fastened pretty tightly for it to stay in place, look right and remain comfortable. A nice finishing touch to this apron would have been a little pocket for a prop or two but it still works very well as it is.

Cottelli Costume Collection Maids DressI received the small size in this costume and for references sake, I wear a UK size four to six. This costume has some stretch and give to it that makes it more likely to suit a range of three to four different sizes. Some costumes can be overtly sexual and revealing but this dress is more of a classic, flirty look and I’m here for it. It is very different to the other maid outfits that I have and is excellent for the times when I’m feeling most self-conscious. This dress reminds me of a slightly sexier version of what Rachel wore in Friends when she worked in Central Perk.

There are no specific cups in this dress as it’s instead been cut in a way that makes it possible to wear a bra underneath. It rests around the same place as the top of my bra which reveals a bit of bust to my partner without giving away the whole game. As I can wear my own bra underneath, I can pick something out that’s well-fitting, supportive and comfortable to make me feel my best in the dress. I think the cut makes this particular outfit suitable for numerous bust sizes and shapes although it will be more revealing on those who have a larger chest so that may be worth keeping in mind when deciding between sizes.

Cottelli Costume Collection Maids DressIt fits like one of my favourite non sexy time outfits, a black skater dress. It flows around the butt and thighs perfectly, which is another great feature for my fellow self-conscious people. It skims the stomach, doesn’t cling (despite the material giving the impression that it might) and is fun to twirl around in. I stand at exactly five foot and this outfit finishes on my mid to upper thigh which is my ideal length for lingerie and costumes. It hides the areas I don’t like whilst maintains a flirtatious, sexy look. Due to the stretch I mentioned above I think it should fit someone much taller than me with no problems although it will be bum-skimming on someone who’s got a foot on me.

My one complaint with the fit/aesthetic/design of this dress is the collar. I haven’t worked or whether it’s m, my body and the way it sets on my frame or whether others will experience the same thing but I felt that the lapels were a little bit too wide. I like collars to sit upright against my neck but this one simply isn’t tight enough which seems to draw emphasis to the size of the lapels. If you have a broader neck and wide shoulders then it may not be noticeable but it was something that bothered me a little. My partner didn’t seem to look twice at it, so this is something that’s probably more of a personal preference with the dress, but I thought it would be worth the mention for the purpose of this fair review.

Cottelli Costume Collection Maids DressOverall, I think this costume will be a new favourite for me. I wore it for my partner for the first time on Valentine’s Day during a special roleplay scenario and it went down well. I felt comfortable throughout the scene, was pleased with the fit and thought it looked wonderful teamed with some stockings, heels and a feather tickler. If you have never worn a costume before or are a little unsure, nervous or worried about feeling embarrassed then I would definitely recommend purchasing a costume like this one.

Review: Lovehoney Lingerie Moonlight Plunge Babydoll Set

I am a self-confessed lingerie lover and I’ll admit to owning a lot of it. I probably have more than a small boutique sells in three months crammed into my once spacious bedroom but that doesn’t stop me from adding new pieces as and when I spot something particularly beautiful, different or interesting. Lovehoney has become one of my first ports of call when I’m looking for something new to wear and I always seem to manage to find something over there that grabs my attention. Lovehoney stock multiple popular lingerie brands like Dreamgirl, Escante and Seven Til Midnight but some of their best-selling pieces are made by their own design team. I have been extremely impressed with most of the ranges that they have released so far and have accumulated a ridiculously large collection of their stuff over the past couple of years.

Many of my all-time favourites have been sadly discontinued as the ranges come and go with the seasons and trends but that makes room for new collections to be released and I can’t complain about that. The latest release is the ‘Moonlight Collection’. Made from a combination of satin and lace and adorning a gorgeous black and wine colour scheme, this range screams elegance and luxury. It’s made up of a total of twelve pieces that range from a size small to a four x. This range is perfect for the colder months and I can’t wait to bring out my first outfit from the range this Valentine’s. I know my partner is going to go wild when he sees this super sexy Plunge Babydoll Set for the first time and frankly, I can’t blame him.

Lovehoney Moonlight Plunge Babydoll SetThe only thing that isn’t luxurious about Lovehoney’s own brand range is the packaging. Everything except their one size bodystockings, hosiery and mini dresses come in plain plastic pouches. They do now stock lingerie gift bags (in a few different designs) and gift boxes for people who want to wrap their lingerie up for a partner beforehand so I suppose that’s the lining in this silver cloud. I would recommend keeping the tags on and trying items on over your own underwear first to ensure that they fit properly and don’t need to be returned under the new policy.

Admiring new lingerie is a given but I was besotted with this babydoll from the moment it arrived. It’s truly gorgeous, lives up to the photos on the website and honestly the design team deserves a round of applause for their work on this. There were no imperfections or flaws with the garment. It’s soft satin body feels luxurious and classic and the floral patterned lace elements are just as supple. The colour scheme is incredibly striking in the flesh and the glossy surface of the satin reflects under glimpses of light. Even the finishing touches are perfect, there are satin bows adorning each shoulder strap and a slightly larger bow between the cups alongside the traditional heart charm.

Lovehoney Moonlight Plunge Babydoll SetI ordered my usual size which is small (said to fit a six to eight) and I wear a four to six so expected that the babydoll would fit well but the matching underwear would be a little loose. This was exactly the case. The matching thong was nice enough but as it wasn’t the tightest fit in the world, I plan to swap it out for a pair of lace black knickers instead. For people who are more on the six to eight range on the bottom, this should be fine.

Cup wise, I only just managed to fill these out. I wear a 30A so this is never a surprise to me as the majority of the lingerie on the market seems to cater for the B-D market. I have come to expect some spare room in the cups and whilst there was room remaining in these, there was none of that awful gaping where it makes the situation obvious. If I had any less chest than I do then I don’t think I’d be able to make this work for me and I think the same rule would apply to those with a larger bust too. In my opinion, the small size would work for those who wear a C cup or below and those above that should size up to accommodate themselves properly.

Lovehoney Moonlight Plunge Babydoll SetDespite only just fitting inside the cups, I did feel comfortable and supported because of the included padding and underwiring that this babydoll has. The padding provides a happily accepted boost to the bust and accentuates what mother nature gave me. However, I did feel more self-conscious trying this garment on than I expected too due to the neckline. It plunges lower than I thought it would, showing off the natural shape and curvatures of the breast.

The back of this piece is absolutely gorgeous. It features adjustable, lace-trimmed shoulder straps that lead to a panel that fastens at the nape of the neck. I tightened the straps as much as they’d allow and fastened the hook-and-eyes onto the fourth and final setting to make the fit as accurate as possible and these adjustments made the babydoll rest perfectly on my frame. Being able to unhook the fastening around the back of the neck as well as the usual placements makes getting in and out of this item fast and smooth sailing for those times where a quick surprise may be warranted.

Lovehoney Moonlight Plunge Babydoll Set

Babydolls are one of my favourite categories of lingerie. I have a ton of them and I wear them the most as they are so versatile and can be doubled as sexy sleepwear. Moonlight’s Babydoll has a floaty finish on me, resembling the fit of an A-line skirt but I think it might fit more like a chemise on those at the top of the size range so that’s something to keep in mind. The material doesn’t cling as much as one expects satin to so I would be happy to recommend this to people who prefer to keep their stomach hidden underneath material.

It doesn’t cling to my legs because of the way it flares out on me and that’s exactly how I like my babydolls to fit. It skims past the thighs, which are a major problem area for me and the bane of my life, slimming them down and drawing attention away from them. Finishing on my mid to upper thigh, the length is flirty but doesn’t reveal too much. This is obviously height dependent though and I’m on the lower spectrum in terms of feet (I’m bang on 5′) so it will be shorter on most people.

Overall, I have said on a number of occasions that I don’t believe Lovehoney could outdo themselves in the lingerie department but each time I am proved wrong as they make a mockery of that statement by producing pieces like this one. Who knows what brilliance they will be bringing out next? I’m quietly hoping it’s not as amazing as this luxurious line turned out to be because the consequences for my bank account and storage system could be tragic otherwise.

Review: Red Corner Wet Look Dress with Lacing

Lingerie is one of the true loves of my life. That might sound super dramatic but it’s true. It’s helped me reach a point where I can be comfortable being intimate with my partner and it also gives me a temporary confidence boost. I was delighted to get the chance to try out a few pieces from Orion recently and I knew I had to save the best one until last. My favourite of the three items simply had to be this gorgeous Wet Look Dress with Lacing from Red Corner. Like the Peplum Wet Look Dress I also reviewed from this range, I had nothing quite like it in my lingerie collection. I don’t actually have many bedroom dresses at all but after these experiences I’m positive that these are styles that I should be exploring more.

Red Corner Mini Dress with LacingIt arrived presented in a stylish red and black cardboard sleeve complete with stunning model shots on the front and back. Inside the box the dress was folded inside a plastic packet and protected with tissue paper. I feel like this piece of lingerie could be given as a gift as is, all you would need to add is a nice pair of underwear (thong, string or whatever the giftee prefers) and a note advising that this look is best served with some killer heels.

Red Corner, a part of the prominent Cottelli Collection, was a brand new line to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of standards. I like to hope for the best each time but my expectations are set high as I want both comfort and sex appeal. It appeared to have been made well with no ugly seams, unfinished stitching or loose threads to be found and I believe it will last a long time with proper care. So far it has held up well during the cleaning process. I’ve simply handwashed it in the bath with lukewarm water and baby shampoo and this has worked like a charm.

As the title and photos suggest, this dress has been made with a wet look appearance. It actually consists of 92% polyester and 8% elastane. The garment feels lovely and has a stunning high-shine, gloss finish that almost sparkles and dazzles under the light. I have a tendency to be drawn towards lace or satin lingerie so those materials make up a huge percentage of my collection and although my partner loves those options too, the shiny materials get his heart racing the most. It could be wet look, latex, vinyl, datex or leather – he’s not fussy about the specifics. If its patent and glossy, he’s interested. This seemed like a great choice to incorporate some of his preferences into my outfit repertoire and he would certainly agree.

Red Corner Mini Dress with LacingI received this little wet look number in an XS which is equivalent to a uk six to eight. As I’ve done with my previous lingerie reviews I’ve showcased the outfit on my glamorous model Berta, who is based on that size range, for an accurate representation of what it looks like. Y’all know body issues are very prevalent for me (which is why I’m not modeling anything) so this is the best way to show this dress off in all its glory. I wear a uk four to six and the fit is very similar on me although Berta has the adjustable height advantage which makes the hem sit in a slightly different place.

The high in the front and low in the back style skirt has become a popular trend in clothing items this year although I haven’t seen it done in lingerie very often. This dress has this feature and it suits the rest of the design perfectly. It comes mid-thigh on me in the front and low thigh in the back. If you like to be covered up in the back then this could be a great choice for you. It will sit around mid-thigh on most people who aren’t stuck at the five foot stance they reached at the age of twelve (me) and just below the butt on those who are around six-foot.

It fastens around the neck via a slip on halter style strap, that cannot be adjusted, so it’s an item that can be pulled on quickly if you should wish to surprise a partner and don’t have much time to change. It’s not completely unadjustable though as the lace-up detailing can be altered to fit the desired tightness and create different looks. You can make the laces sit wide apart to reveal cleavage or a bit of bust if you’re blessed in that department or you can position the laces close together for a more toned down hint at what’s underneath. Multiple looks and reactions can be achieved by playing around with the laces and that’s one of my favourite things about this.

Small bust city is where I’m living, so finding lingerie that fits this area (even though it’s proportionate to my shape) can be something of a challenge. These cups don’t have padding or underwiring or any other type of support for that matter which can sometimes result in a flattened effect. This did not occur with this piece at all. The cups were genuinely flattering on me despite having room remaining for other cup sizes. I think the XS size could take two sizes bigger than I but whether I’d recommend it for those who have a larger bust would depend on that persons support needs. If it’s essential, then this is obviously a no-go but if you don’t mind going without for bedroom wear, then I’d be happy to suggest giving it a go.

Overall, I am infatuated with this dress and I think it has become one of my favourites for when the mood for something different or fetish suited strikes. My partner is in love with this also and he’s definitely hoping that I’ll be getting more items like this in the future. It ticks all of the boxes for him and most of the boxes for me so this has to go down as a success. The only thing I wasn’t in love with was the fact I had to wear seamless underwear underneath to avoid visible panty lines as it’s very difficult finding seamless knickers or thongs that aren’t plain and boring. Outside of that minor irritant, I am very pleased with this piece and the Red Corner collection in general so I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing more like this from them in 2018.

Review: Red Corner Peplum Wet Look Dress

Whilst I was browsing through a selection of lingerie options that I could review for Orion I decided that I should pick one item that I wouldn’t usually go for. I don’t wear dresses often in the bedroom, simply because I haven’t found many that I liked that also fit, but the Red Corner range within the Cottelli Collection had several cute pieces and this Peplum Wet Look Dress was one of them. I don’t have anything even remotely like this outfit in my lingerie collection so I thought it would be interesting to see whether this look would work for me and whether it’s a look I should be exploring more. My partner is a big fan of wet look and fetish/clubwear lingerie so this seemed like a good choice. It is more figure hugging than I would usually pick, due to the body issues/confidence problems I have, so I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would feel in it but surprisingly it made me feel great about myself and put me in a positive, inner dominatrix headspace.

It arrived in a stylish red and black cardboard sleeve complete with glamorous model shots on the front and back. The images are tasteful and the models are both gorgeous. Inside the box the dress was folded neatly inside a plastic packet and protected with tissue paper. This piece has a wet look appearance that’s made up of 92% polyester and 8% elastane. It also comes with a large Cottelli tag in the back which I instantly discarded as it was white and highly visible through the material.

Red Corner is a lingerie line that was brand new to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of quality. I am something of a lingerie snob when discussing standards as I like comfortable but sexy garments that are well put together and will last a long time with care. This piece easily met those requirements. It appeared to be made perfectly with no ugly seams, unfinished edges or loose threads in sight. The material felt lovely and looked fantastic with its high-shine finish. I was very impressed with it and would absolutely wear more pieces from this range if they were all made like this.

Red Corner Peplum Wet Look DressI received the Peplum Wet Look Dress in an XS which is equivalent to a UK 6-8. I placed it on my glamorous assistant Berta for the review photos and she is based on that size so the photos are an accurate representation of what it looks like on someone who wears this size who has a smaller chest. I wear a UK 4-6 and it fits similarly on me although it isn’t as skin-tight around the thighs/butt.

This was definitely more of a challenging piece for me to wear than the other two items I chose to review as its out of my usual comfort zone but I think those boundaries have to be pushed sometimes and it seemed to pay off on this occasion. My partner had a great reaction to this outfit which made me feel incredible and as a result of that I’d seriously consider wearing more pieces like this in the future. It’s not something I would be able to wear on my worst days but for those occasions where I want to be dominant and have an outfit to match the mood, this will be one of my first picks.

The cups are the same style as the Cottelli Collection Wet Look Basque I just reviewed so I had high hopes that they would be similar when it came time to try this dress on. I wear an A cup, which is proportionate for my frame and body type, but can make finding lingerie difficult. These cups don’t have any underwiring or padding and sometimes this means they flatten me and take away the little chest that I do have but luckily we struck gold once again and it didn’t happen with this dress. The cups fit well, they were comfortable and it wasn’t obvious that there was room leftover for bigger cup sizes. I think this size could take up to a C cup but keep in mind that there’s no support at all. If you need padding or wiring to support the girls then this dress probably won’t be comfortable for you.

Red Corner Peplum Wet Look DressOne thing that I noticed about this dress that I wasn’t keen on was that it has a tendency to ride up. I’m only short, I stand at exactly five foot, and this finishes just below my butt. If I walk, move around or even fidget then the dress begins to ride up to expose some of the cheeks. It can be frustrating having to constantly adjust or pull the garment down every few minutes so I try not to move too much when I wear it. If you don’t mind exposing a bit of butt then I suspect this won’t be an issue for you but if you’re like me and find dresses/chemises/skirts riding up to be irritating then I would keep that in mind if you’re considering purchasing this.

Other than that minor issue, I didn’t come across any problems with the way that this dress fit me. It fits my bust perfectly, pulls in the waist and stomach with its lovely lace-up detailing and skims the hips and butt with its peplum trim. I was pleased with the quality and the packaging and I think it would make a great gift for someone who loves a touch of wet look and prefers their lingerie to make the most of their assets. It may not be something I would have ordinarily chosen for myself but I’m so glad I pushed myself out of the familiar zone of basques and babydolls to try something new. I really do like this dress and although it’s not something that will be worn on a super regular basis it definitely has a place in my collection and I am now on the look out for more pieces just like it.
