Review: Klittra of Sweden Oral Wet Vibrator

When I was first contacted about the Klittra of Sweden I have to admit that I was instantaneously intrigued by the concept. It’s not a design or sexual product that I’d ever thought of or imagined I’d need but after doing some background for this review I can see why their idea is a genius one. Every other week in the sex industry I’m emailed about or spot a tweet referring to a ‘new product innovation’ that’s ‘never been done before’ which more often than not turns out to be nothing more than a marketing campaign. It’s usually a product that’s obviously been inspired by something else that’s already been created or not as unique as the advertisement suggests. For once, I found the rare gem that is genuinely unique, different and innovative. It may spark you as being unusual, but does it work?

I for one was not aware that this was a thing, but apparently it’s common on some websites and forums for people to recommend that others transform a bottle of deodorant into a sex toy. It seems that we truly do learn something new every day as I’d never heard of the practice, but when I thought about it, I sort of understood why. I am too conscious about body safe sex practices to experiment with things that aren’t designed to be used near/on my genitals (and even some of those products that are designed but made from crap materials) so it’s something that never occurred to me. For people who aren’t educated about the potential dangers, can’t access sex toys for whatever reason, are embarrassed about buying sex products or feel guilty/shameful about masturbating it makes total sense to look for things in the home that can be converted to pleasure products.

So, why is the deodorant bottle turned sex toy a phenomenon? What do people get from the experience? It’s reported that the wet surface of the roller ball being scrolled across the vulva/vagina/clitoris or anus feels similar to oral sex and stimulates those areas enough to be orgasmic. It has proved to be a popular idea amongst vulva owners that suffer from vaginal dryness as the lubricating factor removes unwanted friction. Klittra of Sweden decided to make this product to transform this increasingly popular practice into an innovative, body-safe sex toy and I have to applaud them for that. Anything that encourages people to engage in safer sex and masturbation habits is news to my ears.

Before we talk about my experiences, let’s cover the basics. Starting with the presentation. The packaging for the Klittra of Sweden is simple and unassuming. It’s a plain white box with logo on the front and user diagram on the back. The only thing I’d change about it is the wording on the top of the box. It currently reads ‘for every girl in the world’ which excludes those who have vulvas that don’t identify as girls/women. I’d love to see more inclusive phrasing for the non-binary folks of the world for future packaging. Inside the box there is the toy itself, a charging cable, instruction manual and sample bottle of lube. A storage bag to keep it all together would be cool but as it can be left out without drawing attention this isn’t essential.

Made from a combination of ABS plastic and silicone, the Klittra of Sweden is totally safe to use. The materials are both non-toxic, odourless, hypoallergenic and phthalate free. Made to a high-standard, this product feels good quality and robust. It’s smooth to the touch, comfortable to hold and doesn’t irritate my nether regions. It is also somewhat waterproof. It can be rinsed but not submerged. It should be cleaned thoroughly before and after each use. Twist the cap off and rinse the inside of each compartment with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before putting back together.

As this is a vibrating product, it needs to be given some battery life before use. It is rechargeable via the USB charging cable that’s included in the box. The connector should be placed in the port on the bottom of the toy and the USB end into a laptop or computer. A light will flash to indicate that it is charging and go steady once complete. The manual recommends a charge time of one and a half to two hours which can provide up to forty minutes of vibration use. To access the vibrations, press the singular button on the base. Flick through the settings by tapping further and press and hold to turn off.

How does it work? You unscrew the cap, revealing two compartments. The larger compartment with the roller ball on the other side is the one you need to pour lubricant into. Klittra of Sweden do include a sample 30ml bottle of water-based lube but the ingredients may not be suitable for everyone. You can use your lube of choice instead if you’d prefer. It holds the whole contents of the sample bottle but I only place around 10ml inside at a time. When the lube is all poured in, screw the cap back on. Pull it off (rather than twisting) to show the roller ball and position it over the erogenous zone of choice.

I decided to start over my clitoris and honestly, I was not expecting it to work as well as it did. The first movement added a slick coat of lube over the area providing maximum comfort and glide. You can never have too much lube in my opinion so this is a dream come true for me. It provides a fresh application with each movement which feels refreshing and not so far from the feeling of a tongue. The Klittra of Sweden provides a cooling sensation from the lubricant whereas the human tongue provides warmth so there is a difference in that respect but it’s not a bad example of oral sex in toy form. It’s the closest thing to the actual act that I’ve tried thus far. Much better than the flickering tongue types.

The sensation of a roller ball moving around the vulva, and clitoris in particular, is much better than I anticipated. I can get a desirable amount of pressure which is something I personally need for external stimulation and it’s more precise than I imagined too. I did read on the included leaflet that pubic hair could potentially be caught in the space between the roller and the cap, which did not sound pleasant, so I ensured a trim was had before testing it thoroughly. It worked out fine with a high rising landing strip but I wouldn’t use it with hair any closer to my vulva. If you prefer a natural pubic look/feel then this may not be the right product for you. If you have less or even no hair then you theoretically shouldn’t have any problems with pinching.

If the roller motion isn’t enough stimulation for you then there are also vibrations to explore. Five modes of vibration to be exact. Two constant speeds and three patterned settings. As usual, the patterns weren’t for me. I actually found these modes to be more off-putting than usual because I had to line up the motions of the roller with the patterned vibration in order to not end up in a state of frustration and resentment. It was too distracting for me personally. I would have rather just had three speeds/intensities I think.

The two settings that it does have aren’t anything to brag about but I didn’t even need them to be. The combination of the cold lubrication, rolling motion and vibrations were enough to send my body into overdrive. I orgasmed every time I used this product so it’s been promoted to my bedside table for easy access alongside my other most-used sex items. If I can look past buzzy, mediocre vibrations that are mostly limited to base of a toy and don’t travel as well as they could then I know I’m onto something good. I would like the vibrations to travel better than they currently do but this isn’t something I’d insist on changing in order to recommend the toy. It’s just something to keep in mind for any future models that may be made.

My partner was excited about the Klittra of Sweden. We are in a long-distance relationship currently so he’s not always around to provide oral sex when the mood strikes me. This toy offers a suitable replication that can ride me over until he’s able to come back. He even decided to incorporate it into a session himself, alternating between his tongue and the Klittra to get me off in record time. It usually takes about twenty minutes for me to climax from oral, but that halves with the Klittra’s involvement. This stops my partners tongue getting tired before I’m finished and also encourages him to go down more. How could I complain about that?

Review: Licx Limited Edition Gel Lubricant

If you have not heard of the brand Licx, allow me to give you a brief introduction as to who they are and what they do before getting into this review. Licx are a company that aim to create an approachable space for people to purchase their intimate products. They are continuing to build their range and are very open to customer feedback and suggestions. I love to support companies that genuinely listen to what people want and aim to provide customers with the products they are looking for. I am really looking forward to seeing how Licx continue to expand their brand but for now, let’s talk about their new Limited Edition Gel Lubricant.

They package and send out all of their products in a discreet fashion. I feel this is hugely important with sexual wellness products as this can encourage people who may feel uncomfortable buying lubricants in the shops to pop online and buy some with just a couple of clicks. As is the case with past products I’ve reviewed from Licx, the presentation was grand. The lubricant comes in a patterned purple box with silver detailing and a half cut-out viewing screen to see the tube inside. The tube continues with the same theme as the outer box and doesn’t necessarily scream lubricant. It looks more like a bottle of hand lotion or similar.

So this product is the same as their original gel lubricant but it has been repackaged with this beautiful purple colour scheme. It is cruelty free, which is great news for me as an animal lover, and it’s also pH balanced which is ideal for vulvas and anuses everywhere. If you take a look at the contents of this lubricant listed in the quick review below then you’ll notice there are only four ingredients. I have noticed that lubricants with less ingredients tend to be better for the body, less aggravating to sensitive skin and more natural feeling. This one fits in with my observations perfectly.

I am a sensitive soul with the skin to match and I’m pleased to report no irritations from this product. Licx’s Gel Lubricant proved suitable for both myself and my partner as we’ve had no issues at all. It does not contain any glycerin or parabens but does include propylene glycol. Sometimes I have problems with this ingredient, sometimes I don’t, I think it depends on the amount that has been used within the product. If you know that this is a problem for you or you prefer to stay away from glycol then I wouldn’t recommend this to you. I hold out hopes that Licx will make an organic lube in the future that is suitable for all.

It dispenses via flipping the cap and squeezing the tube. I generally prefer pump nozzles as they are less messy/wasteful but Licx’s lubricants are quite thick which limits the risk of spillage. This lube comes out of the tube with a clear appearance and wonderful consistency. It is thick enough to avoid being runny or watery but not thick enough that I’d be comfortable using it for anal sex. I may be able to use it with a small plug but use with a larger partner is out of the question as there’s not enough cushioning for my needs. Vaginal use is absolutely fine though. It is suitable with all sex toys and provides enough padding for comfortable piv.

Once applied, it lasts for around 20 minutes. This is pretty standard for a water-based lubricant. If you need more time you can add some additional lubricant or simply spritz some water to reactivate the existing application. It feels nice on the skin, doesn’t become stringy or tacky during use and leaves no greasy residue afterwards. It comes off easily with soapy water and leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated. It has no noticeable odour or taste, although I probably wouldn’t recommend it for oral sex when there’s so many flavoured options available. Overall, Licx’s Gel Lubricant is a rather good lubricant and I’d be happy to recommend it if glycol isn’t an issue for you.

Review: Lovehoney Discover Anal Lubricant (US version)

Lovehoney Discover Lube US VersionMy partner and I engage in anal play on a fairly regular basis so we rarely say no to trying lubes that can make those sessions go smoother. I’m a bit of a lubeaholic anyway, so I was excited to get my hands on an upcoming release. I wasn’t sure what the product would be when I put myself forward to review it, but after discovering it was Lovehoney’s Discover Lubricant I was rather pleased.

I was expecting it to just be the same as the version I already know and love, but then I read the ingredients list and noted a lot of changes. After spotting that I was naturally curious to give this a go and see how the two versions compared. Check out the quick review for a basic summary or read on full the full lowdown.

It arrives in a sturdy transparent bottle, which I liked as this enables me to see how much product is left, with a non-tacky, unobtrusive label wrapped around it. It doesn’t scream out sexual lubricant in comparison to other brands like Durex. It had been shrink-wrapped for assurance that it hadn’t been tampered with prior to arrival, which was another plus, and the bottle was also locked to prevent spills and mess. This lube dispenses via a pump which is convenient, removes the potential for mess and waste and is my preferred dispensing option.

Before I get into the consistency and how it feels in use, I want to cover some of the other most important aspects. Taste and odour. These are two things that I prefer to know about before deciding to purchase a sexual lubricant. My partner did the taste test and claimed that it’s not very desirable in that department. He likened it to hair gel or something similar and for that reason he would not recommend using this for any sort of oral contact. It was too chemically based for him. In regards to scent, neither of us could pick up anything, pleasant or otherwise, so that’s a positive.

We are very insistent on patch testing before applying lubricant to our intimate areas because of sensitive skin. We didn’t encounter any reactions such as itching, burning or rash developing so we decided to go ahead. I have used the UK version of Discover for vaginal use in the past, particularly when I’ve wanted to use bigger toys as its perfect for lots of comfortable cushioning, but I wouldn’t use this version for anything but anal. The reason for that is that this version includes Glycerin and I don’t like to mess up my vulva with a UTI.

I seemed to be fine with it anally, but I was a bit put off by the inclusion of Methylparaben. I really prefer to avoid any and all parabens in my lubes and would much rather recommend lubricants to others that are paraben free too. If you are like me and would prefer to avoid them or you’re sensitive to them, then I would not recommend this version to you. I would recommend Sliquid Sassy or Sliquid’s Gel Lubricant as an irritant free replacement. If you aren’t so bothered by parabens, then the lube itself is fit for purpose and does the job well.

When I placed a couple of pumps into my palm for the first time I was impressed with the consistency. It’s definitely thick and gel-like as described and I think that’s a great combination for any sort of anal play. It’s pretty thick in terms of texture and has no sticky, greasy feel to it (during or after use) which surprised me. I’ve encountered many lubricants that contain glycerin and nearly all of them have become tacky and gross quite quickly after application. It provides a thick layer of protection to the back door whilst reducing any discomfort that may occur. My partner is well endowed so anal can be painful if not sufficiently warmed up and lubricated. Discover solves that issue. It removes the uncomfortable friction for me without taking away the friction that makes anal sex so great for him.

Overall, I cannot deny that Lovehoney’s Discover Lubricant (US) is fit for purpose. It has a good consistency and thickness for anal play, has no offensive odour and lasts a reasonable amount of time. I’d estimate 20-25 minutes of use before needing to reactivate it. It can be used with any sort of sex toy as its water based and is perfect for removing the drag from a silicone plug, but the ingredients list is not going to be suitable for everyone. If you’re not in the US, Lovehoney’s Discover has a much better set of ingredients and by that I mean no parabens or glycerin. I don’t know why the ingredients had to be changed so much for Discover to be approved for sale in the US, but I’m glad that the consistency was not altered.

Review: Just Glide Water-Based Lubricant

Just Glide Water Based LubricantI recently received a review package from Orion containing the Javida Heating Vibe and I was surprised to find two 20ml tubes of the Just Glide Water Based Lubricant alongside it. I have reviewed a few Orion lubricants before, namely the Just Glide Womanizer, Just Glide Silicone and the O-Glide Toygel. I really liked both of the Just Glide Lubricants that I tried previously, so I was quite excited to see how the water based version would hold up. Did it impress me or was I left feeling disappointed? Read on to find out or jump to the quick review for the facts.

It follows the same presentation as the previous products I mentioned, just a clear tube with the product name on the front and directions for use and a list of ingredients on the back. It features a hygiene seal for added confidence that it hasn’t been tampered with, which I’m always happy to discover. I feel that the presentation of this product is discreet and it could easily be left out on a dresser without catching the attention of wandering eyes.

Before I use a new lubricant or essential I always carry out a patch test on my partner and I beforehand. We both suffer with sensitive skin, me more than him, and I’m prone to UTi’s so I need to avoid lubricants that contain Glycerin. I’m pleased to state that the Just Glide Water Based Lubricant doesn’t contain any, nor does it have Parabens or Propylene Glycol. I was reassured by this as this made the chances of a reaction significantly lower and as it turned out, no reaction occurred whatsoever. I’d be happy to recommend this to people who need to avoid all of the above ingredients, as well as wanting to use a product that’s compatible with condoms and friendly for vegans.

I was incredibly surprised by this lube. I was expecting it to be just another average product with no stand out qualities, but I was so wrong. When I squeezed a small amount out of the tube for the first time and rubbed it between my fingers I was amazed. It’s a water based lubricant with the slickness of the silicone equivalent. It certainly lives up to name of ‘Just Glide’ as that’s exactly what it does. It seems to be effortless and carefree as it moves across the skin and removes any friction or discomfort that may occur.

Just Glide Water Based LubricantIn my opinion, it has the balance perfectly struck between thick and thin. I’d class this as a thicker water based lubricant, although it’s not the thickest I’ve ever used. It’s not quite thick enough for anal use, but for masturbation or vaginal sex it’s perfect. It doesn’t have a sticky texture at all and it leaves the skin feeling as soft as a babies. I was really pleased with the consistency, thickness and the lack of odour, so I’d say that the Just Glide Water Based lubricant is a great all-rounder. I would definitely use this one again.
