Review: Be Sassy Be Tender Vibrator

Earlier in the year I tried the Be Charming Lay On Vibrator from Orion’s Be Sassy collection and it wasn’t the best. Not all sex toys are suited to everyone, which is understandable, so I didn’t want to rule out the rest of the range based on that one experience as these products are silicone, affordable and well made which makes them great candidates to recommend to others. I asked Orion if they would be willing to let me take another chance on the collection and they kindly obliged, sending over the Be Unique and the Be Tender. This one is a lay on vibrator like the original toy I reviewed but it has a different shape so I hoped that would make me feel differently about it. Was that the case or did I encounter deja vu?

As before, I cannot fault the presentation. It’s plain with no tacky images to be found. The box shows a front and back view of the product and also offers up a couple of informational snippets. The sides just read basic descriptions in a host of languages regarding the key features. The box opens via a magnetic clip to reveal the vibrator behind a viewing screen, which is a nice touch, and it comes with a generic user guide and charging cable.

Unlike the Be Unique, the Be Tender is rechargeable. It has a port on the back for the jack to be placed into and this is covered via a moveable flap of silicone. The other end of the cable goes into a USB connector. The lights on the control panel will flash whilst the charging is taking place and go steady once complete. The box estimates a two-hour charge period with up to an hour of use depending on the settings being used.

Created from silicone which has a polyurethane coating and a small amount of plastic, there are no concerns regarding body-safety. It’s phthalate free, odourless and non-toxic amongst other great things. It’s also hypoallergenic which means that it can be properly cleaned between uses and won’t hoard bacteria. The materials feel high-quality and the vibrator itself appears to have been put together well. It doesn’t have any visible seams or rough edges whatsoever and aesthetically it is pleasant to look at. The resistance to the silicone is minimal as it’s rather smooth but a coating of water based lubricant around the areas that come into contact with the clitoris will remove that.

A slight gripe I have with this range is that neither the box, manual or website specifies whether the products are waterproof. The guide does indicate that cleaning should be done with soap and water so I assume that it is but it’s not completely clear. I have had no problems rinsing but I would exercise caution to others and advise making sure the charging port is completely covered so no water gets into that area.

Be Sassy Be Tender VibratorOperating the Be Tender could not be simpler as it only has two buttons. A power button which turns the device on and off and a function button that scrolls through the available modes. The control panel lights up when in use and flashes in accordance with the setting being used. It has eight modes in total with three of them being constant waves of vibration and the remaining five being patterns. I haven’t used those as I don’t enjoy them and prefer constant stimulation.

So how did we get along? Well I didn’t find myself feeling much stimulation when holding the toy as it was probably designed to be held. If I positioned the ears around the clitoral hood and buried the nose of the rabbit into it then I couldn’t get as much pressure as I needed and felt numbed by the vibrations faster. The motor of the Be Tender is as buzzy as the last vibrator I tried from the range but it seems to have a better frequency to it which means it’s not unbearable. It still becomes numbing if left on an exposed area for longer than a few moments but I discovered a work around as I experimented.

I decided to use it with a layer of fabric between us, be that a thin bed sheet or my underwear, as it felt much better. It dampened the power slightly but I felt that the pros outweighed that con on this occasion. It meant I was able to place the vibrator on that area, without it touching my skin, prolonging the time I could use it for comfortably. The motor is rather powerful so if it wasn’t for the buzzing I’d orgasm very quickly but as the sensations don’t travel below the surface level of the clitoris it takes a little longer. When there’s fabric between us I can get a refreshing climax in before the numbing sensation gets grip and takes over.

Be Sassy Be Tender VibratorPlacement wise, I use it with the ears downwards tickling the vulva and the back of the toy pushed up against the clitoris. It may not be the way it was designed to be used but it works for me better than the ‘correct’ method.

Sometimes playing around with positioning can make all the difference in whether a toy can be suitable to me or not so I don’t like to leave options unexplored. The method I used allowed me to push the back of the toy into the area that I wanted the stimulation focused on and I could comfortably lay on it and grind my body against it to get the desired pressure and sensation.

I’m not exactly sure why I’ve always enjoyed lay-on vibrators or toys that I can use whilst laying on my stomach but I seem to get my strongest orgasms with my head buried into a pillow. I feel more in control this way for some reason and more likely to relax and let myself get lost in the moment. I assume that it’s linked in with the way I used to masturbate in my pre sex toy era (grinding against something placed underneath me) as that would make a lot of sense. The Be Tender suits those circumstances perfectly so would be great for people who masturbate similarly to me or people who have mobility issues and need the vibrator to stay in place to do most of the work.

Overall, I would have to be completely honest and say that this is better than the one I tried previously. I didn’t hate this encounter and found ways to make it work for me. I would not be able to use it successfully without some form of fabric barrier between us due to the buzzing of the motor but this makes an interesting change from my typical unclothed masturbation habits. The other thing that isn’t perfect about it is the noise levels. It’s unfortunately not the quietest tool in my box and I couldn’t use it with others in the house unless I had background noise to drown it out. Outside of those two things, the Be Tender is a definite improvement on the last lay-on vibe and has definitely made me feel more optimistic and positive about the rest of the Be Sassy collection.

Reviews Elsewhere: PleasurePanel September & October 2017

If you have heard of our fellow blogger and sex industry legend, Cara Sutra, then you may have heard about their Pleasure Panel project. This gives bloggers, reviewers and general toy enthusiasts the chance to write product reviews that are placed on her popular site. We have been part of this project for a while now and have decided to start posting snippets of those reviews here so you can keep up with what we’ve been reviewing elsewhere on the web. We have combined September and October’s posts for this round-up and there’s a total of six products to talk about so let’s get stuck in!

Romant Amber Voice Activated Vibrator

In September we received just the one product to try out but it was an exciting one. The Romant Amber Voice Activated Vibrator from Honour. We were very intrigued by the concept of voice activation as it’s something we hadn’t explored before but did it impress us? Not particularly. Here’s a snippet: “I don’t know whether I expected too much from the technology behind this vibrator or whether it’s just an average toy with a cool feature but it didn’t wow me.”

Amoremeo Salted Caramel Massage Gel

Then came the October round and boy did Cara spoil us! We received five products for review in this round and up first was the Amoremeo Salted Caramel Kissable Massage Gel. You may recall us reviewing the Amoremeo Vanilla Massage Gel earlier on in 2017, so we’ve now tried both flavours and have contrasting opinions. I initially wasn’t sure about this scent but here’s a preview of what I thought in the end: “It was surprisingly pleasant to me and I found myself thinking that it would be perfect for the festive season.”

Give Lube #Selfie Masturbation Cream

Next up was the Give Lube #Selfie Masturbation Cream. My partner has now tried a handful of masturbation creams and lubricants and they seem to be getting better each time. This was a raging success with him and almost scored top marks. Here’s a brief overview of his feedback: “It’s more than thick enough to provide a level of comfort and glide that wouldn’t be possible with water-based options and could be a game changer for penis owners who’ve never tried a hybrid mix before.”

Give Lube Noir Silicone Lubricant

We are an interracial couple that have different skin needs so when I spotted the Give Lube Noir Silicone Lubricant on October’s listing I eagerly volunteered on his behalf. This lubricant was designed with black skin in mind and as my partner is mixed race I thought he’d be a good candidate to trial it. This received top marks from both of us and will be a staple in our collection from now on. From the review: “I’m really happy with the way my partner reacted to this lube and I love that the needs of black skin are now being well catered for.”

System JO Warm and Buzzy Clitoral Stimulant

System JO’s For Her Warm and Buzzy Clitoral Stimulant was one of my top choices during this round as I’m a sucker for orgasm enhancers. I haven’t had all positive experiences with this brand in the past but this product was great although some extra intensity wouldn’t have gone amiss. “If this is applied to the clitoris and left to warm up for a few moments before a vibrator is introduced then the area is more sensitive and results in more intense reactions to the vibrations.”

System JO Premium Jelly Silicone Based Lubricant

Finally, the System JO Premium Jelly Silicone Based Lubricant landed on our doorstep. As sex toy reviewers, bloggers and lube enthusiasts we can never have enough options. This is one of the best affordable silicone lubricants on the market at the moment in our opinion. It got top marks from us and we’d highly recommend this to our fellow silicone lube lovers. I think this one is best summed up by one simple sentence from the review: “System JO have definitely stepped up their game and done a great job creating this product.”

Review: Red Corner Peplum Wet Look Dress

Whilst I was browsing through a selection of lingerie options that I could review for Orion I decided that I should pick one item that I wouldn’t usually go for. I don’t wear dresses often in the bedroom, simply because I haven’t found many that I liked that also fit, but the Red Corner range within the Cottelli Collection had several cute pieces and this Peplum Wet Look Dress was one of them. I don’t have anything even remotely like this outfit in my lingerie collection so I thought it would be interesting to see whether this look would work for me and whether it’s a look I should be exploring more. My partner is a big fan of wet look and fetish/clubwear lingerie so this seemed like a good choice. It is more figure hugging than I would usually pick, due to the body issues/confidence problems I have, so I wasn’t sure how comfortable I would feel in it but surprisingly it made me feel great about myself and put me in a positive, inner dominatrix headspace.

It arrived in a stylish red and black cardboard sleeve complete with glamorous model shots on the front and back. The images are tasteful and the models are both gorgeous. Inside the box the dress was folded neatly inside a plastic packet and protected with tissue paper. This piece has a wet look appearance that’s made up of 92% polyester and 8% elastane. It also comes with a large Cottelli tag in the back which I instantly discarded as it was white and highly visible through the material.

Red Corner is a lingerie line that was brand new to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of quality. I am something of a lingerie snob when discussing standards as I like comfortable but sexy garments that are well put together and will last a long time with care. This piece easily met those requirements. It appeared to be made perfectly with no ugly seams, unfinished edges or loose threads in sight. The material felt lovely and looked fantastic with its high-shine finish. I was very impressed with it and would absolutely wear more pieces from this range if they were all made like this.

Red Corner Peplum Wet Look DressI received the Peplum Wet Look Dress in an XS which is equivalent to a UK 6-8. I placed it on my glamorous assistant Berta for the review photos and she is based on that size so the photos are an accurate representation of what it looks like on someone who wears this size who has a smaller chest. I wear a UK 4-6 and it fits similarly on me although it isn’t as skin-tight around the thighs/butt.

This was definitely more of a challenging piece for me to wear than the other two items I chose to review as its out of my usual comfort zone but I think those boundaries have to be pushed sometimes and it seemed to pay off on this occasion. My partner had a great reaction to this outfit which made me feel incredible and as a result of that I’d seriously consider wearing more pieces like this in the future. It’s not something I would be able to wear on my worst days but for those occasions where I want to be dominant and have an outfit to match the mood, this will be one of my first picks.

The cups are the same style as the Cottelli Collection Wet Look Basque I just reviewed so I had high hopes that they would be similar when it came time to try this dress on. I wear an A cup, which is proportionate for my frame and body type, but can make finding lingerie difficult. These cups don’t have any underwiring or padding and sometimes this means they flatten me and take away the little chest that I do have but luckily we struck gold once again and it didn’t happen with this dress. The cups fit well, they were comfortable and it wasn’t obvious that there was room leftover for bigger cup sizes. I think this size could take up to a C cup but keep in mind that there’s no support at all. If you need padding or wiring to support the girls then this dress probably won’t be comfortable for you.

Red Corner Peplum Wet Look DressOne thing that I noticed about this dress that I wasn’t keen on was that it has a tendency to ride up. I’m only short, I stand at exactly five foot, and this finishes just below my butt. If I walk, move around or even fidget then the dress begins to ride up to expose some of the cheeks. It can be frustrating having to constantly adjust or pull the garment down every few minutes so I try not to move too much when I wear it. If you don’t mind exposing a bit of butt then I suspect this won’t be an issue for you but if you’re like me and find dresses/chemises/skirts riding up to be irritating then I would keep that in mind if you’re considering purchasing this.

Other than that minor issue, I didn’t come across any problems with the way that this dress fit me. It fits my bust perfectly, pulls in the waist and stomach with its lovely lace-up detailing and skims the hips and butt with its peplum trim. I was pleased with the quality and the packaging and I think it would make a great gift for someone who loves a touch of wet look and prefers their lingerie to make the most of their assets. It may not be something I would have ordinarily chosen for myself but I’m so glad I pushed myself out of the familiar zone of basques and babydolls to try something new. I really do like this dress and although it’s not something that will be worn on a super regular basis it definitely has a place in my collection and I am now on the look out for more pieces just like it.

You can purchase the Red Corner Peplum Wet Look Dress (€49.95/£44.49) from Orion.
