Review: Coco de Mer Divine Glow Aqua Lubricant

I know what some of you may be thinking, £24.99 for a lubricant? Is it a magic lubricant? Was it created by angels? Can it apply itself? Well, no. Then what’s so good about it? I’m about to tell you. If you just want to know the basics, then you can find the facts here in the quick review.

The Coco de Mer Divine Glow Aqua Lubricant oozed luxury from the second I opened the discreet delivery box. It was wrapped inside some burgundy tissue paper with a Coco de Mer sticker sealing the paper shut. The outer packaging for the lubricant is a simplistic, dark brown box with Coco de Mer and the product name written in gold. The side of the box reads “enjoy irresponsibly” which I definitely will be doing.

I absolutely love the bottle, the design is stunning and is very different from other lubricants on the market. It features a beautiful, artistic image that to me, signifies the naturalness of lubricant. It screams sophistication and could easily be left out as there’s no obvious indication from the front of the bottle that this is a lubricant. I was really pleased to discover this lubricant is toy, condom and vegetarian safe as well as being free from glycerin and parabens.

The bottle thankfully features a pump nozzle, making it extremely convenient and easy to use. I prefer pumps to any other removal options out there. Pumps ensure you get the perfect amount of lubricant and stop leaking. Trust me, you do not want to be wasting any of this product.  The bottle contains 100ml of the lubricant which doesn’t sound like much, but the bottle is rather wide making it look like there’s more for your money. It has a 12 month shelf life once opened, but I’m sure it will be long gone by then!

My partner and I both have sensitive skin which have led to a few reactions with lubricant in the past, so we always do a patch test before applying to our intimate areas. I’m pleased to say neither of us had a reaction to this one, so we got to testing. I like to put a small amount onto my hand to get an idea for the consistency/texture before use and I was quite impressed with this one from the outset. It stayed exactly where I placed it rather than drying up or running down the side of my hand and making a mess. It maintained its water-based form perfectly.

I love the consistency of this lubricant, it’s rather thick, which is something we’re starting to prefer. It isn’t tacky or sticky in texture and due to the consistency it’s not runny either. We have found a little goes along way with this lubricant and it leaves skin feeling hydrated and soft. I rubbed it into my skin like I’d do if I were using it on my partner/myself or a toy, just to see how long it would last and it was easily 25-30 minutes before any change in texture became noticeable. We haven’t felt the need to reapply during use yet, but you might if you’re having a slightly longer session.

During use, I found this lubricant to be perfectly compatible with all toys. I found it worked best with those made from a firm material such as metal, glass and tougher silicone toys like the Godemiche Adam. It helps the toys slide in much easier whilst reducing the drag or any uncomfortableness from the material.

As for penetrative sex, it made things go much smoother and become more comfortable. I’ve mentioned before my partner is on the large side and this can cause soreness, so a good lubricant is essential in making sex enjoyable for me. My partner is impressed and enthusiastic about this lubricant, he likes that there are no irritants or off-putting scents or textures. This isn’t a lubricant most people would use for the purpose of oral sex, but it has no particular or bad taste, so if you happen to taste a little, it shouldn’t be too bad that you can’t continue.

Overall, this is definitely the luxurious product that it claims to be and is exactly as you’d expect from a Luxury company like Coco de Mer. It lasts a long time, doesn’t dry out or run everywhere or have a bad odour. It isn’t sticky, greasy or irritating either. The nice packaging and pretty presentation is just a bonus. Whilst I understand the price is more than most would be willing to pay on a regular basis, this is a fantastic product and I’d highly recommend it. It would be a nice treat or gift and would be the perfect partner to a new luxury toy. I would be willing to pay this and will purchase myself when I run out. I can’t wait to hopefully try out some other products from this range in the near future.
