Review: Lovehoney Nubby Textured Sensual Glass Dildo

I thought I should probably write a glass dildo review as one of my first posts on this blog, seeing as I titled my blog after them. In this review I’m paying homage to my first glass toy, the Lovehoney Nubby. I purchased this in the 3 for £50 offer.

IMG_0710I don’t have the original box this dildo came in anymore, but it arrived packaged as pictured on the Lovehoney website, a simple white box with a picture of the toy on the front and key features on the side. I adore Lovehoney’s sleek packaging, there’s no tacky or pornographic images in sight and that’s just the way I like it.  Inside the box, I found an instruction leaflet along with my beautiful new dildo. It was secured inside a black velvet storage bag, with a layer of soft foam wrap tied around it securely for extra protection.

The Lovehoney Nubby is truly a beautiful toy, it’s a work of art. I was initially a tad disappointed when holding the dildo, as it was not as purple as the picture had suggested, I was expecting more of an obvious shading, rather than a tint, which is what I got. I still think it looks lovely regardless.

I decided on this as my first glass piece because it’s a slim but fairly lengthy, body safe dildo with the added bonus of delightful textured nodules. This is basically everything that I love in a dildo. If I’m being honest, I do prefer length over girth and whilst that might put me in the minority, it allows me to really enjoy toys like these and appreciate toys that may have been made with the beginner in mind. I am enjoying finding ways to have fun with the somewhat slimmer toys, including this one.

Before I joined Lovehoney and the sex toy community online, the thought of using a glass sex toy would have never occurred to me. I was definitely sceptical prior to purchasing, but any doubts were erased the second I laid eyes on Nubby. I was a sceptic for a while, wondering how on earth glass toys could be safe to use, but I did my research and learnt that they are perfectly safe to use and some of the best toys out there. I’m not sure why I took so long to discover glass, but once I did, I saw things in a whole new light.

Being made from glass, the dildo is chilled without even messing about with the varying options of temperature play. It feels surprisingly refreshing against bare skin and can raise goosebumps on my arms within seconds.  I like my partner to roll the dildo slowly over my body during a massage as the nodules sooth any aches and pains. My partner particularly enjoys this sensation on his back and says it feels completely different to any other massage aid we have, in all the best ways. The dildo can also be a great clitoral tease, the nubs rubbing gently against my clitoral hood has me warmed up and wanting intense internal stimulation quickly. My partner likes to tease me like this for a few strokes before inserting the dildo or turning on a clitoral vibrator.

Obviously this toy was made primarily for internal stimulation and boy does it do that! I feel as though this dildo is the equivalent masseuse, the way it just massages the walls of my vagina whilst applying firm pressure to my G-Spot feels out of this world. This toy may not be curved, but if I hit the right angle, it can find my G-Spot easily enough. I like to twist the toy against that spot slowly as the pressure and intensity begins to build up, as this can bring me to a squirting finale.  I find the texture to be perfect, the nodules are incredibly satisfying and I have orgasmed with this toy on many occasions.

I love that glass toys can be used with any lubricant, but I don’t really need much lube as this toy has natural glide. My natural lubrication is usually enough, especially if I’m using this dildo in water. I found that when using this in the bath, the purple becomes a little more obvious and really starts to shine through. Glass can be quite slippy when wet or lubed up, so a little extra length to hold on to would have made this toy better. I usually lube the majority of the toy and leave some space on the dildo to use as a handle, but I’ve dropped it a couple of times in the heat of the moment.

I still live at home so am unable to store glass toys in the fridge to chill, but leaving one in a bowl of icy cold water works just as well. I personally prefer cold as it feels divine both internally and externally, but heat is nice on occasion. I use the same method with warm water and generally leave the toy submerged for around 20 minutes before use.

IMG_0713I love to use this with a strong clitoral vibrator like the Tango or Nea 2, quick thrusts and strong vibrations directly against my clitoris will have me reaching an orgasm in no time. This dildo has become a firm favourite and I stand by my choice. This was probably the best decision I could have made for a first glass dildo and as I was so impressed, I’ve started building a collection of others.

We purchased this product for ourselves and all opinions are our own. You can purchase your own Nubby Glass Dildo (£22.99) from Lovehoney. Affiliate links were used within this review.
