Review: Lovehoney Silencer 6 Function USB Rechargeable Bullet Vibrator

Lovehoney Rechargeable SilencerI decided a couple of months ago I was going to make the switch to rechargeable toys, I sent many of my battery operated vibrators to the graveyard to make room for some new, rechargeable options. It becomes expensive constantly buying batteries, I’d rather pay a little extra for something I can just plug into my laptop. I don’t miss the dreaded situation of batteries running out halfway through a session and having to rummage through the battery box naked and frustrated.

As I’ve had this a while, I don’t have the outer packaging anymore, but there’s a picture on the product page if you’re interested. It’s the standard classy packaging for Lovehoney’s own branded products, nice and understated. A simple, slim, white box with a picture of the Silencer on the front and instruction leaflet on the inside. Inside, just the bullet awaits inside some plastic casing, there’s no charging cable needed for this one.

All that’s required to charge this toy is removing the cap from the bullet and insert into your chosen USB socket. An LED light will show up whilst it’s charging and stops once it is fully charged. This toy is a very speedy charger, it only takes around 30 minutes. The first time I charged it, I assumed I’d accidentally disconnected it, but it appears that it does actually charge that fast.

The Silencer is plain sailing, press the (+) button to start steady vibrations. Holding and pressing the (+) button will increase the strength. (-) will decrease the strength and turn the toy off. To begin the patterns press and hold the (+), then press the (+) again to scroll through the five modes. When ready to go back to steady vibrations tap the (-) button or hold it down to turn the toy off. It also has a handy travel lock which is activated by pressing and holding both buttons down for roughly 7 seconds. It will flash once activated. To unlock the toy, repeat the same process and wait for it to flash once again.

Does anyone else test the settings out on their hand first? I can’t use a vibrator without using this method first. I like to get a basic understanding of how the toy works and how much strength it has. When trying the Silencer out, I kept wanting to increase the intensity, but I was already on maximum power. The constant vibrations even on the highest setting are not the strength I’d hoped for, it’s difficult for me to orgasm with this alone, but I can do it, it will just take some extra time and patience.

As for the patterns, they don’t particularly interest or excite me. I tend to avoid patterns on most toys unless I find a rare setting that’s rumbly or fun. The patterns on this toy are too buzzy for my liking, they are the typical functions you find on cheaper vibrators, so there’s nothing special about them.

I wouldn’t class this toy as extremely weak, but there’s no urgency behind the vibrations, no rush, no desire and that’s what I really need. It’s not just about the strength, it’s about the speed and determining whether the bullet can provide below the surface rumbles or not. I’ve concluded that it can’t, but for those who don’t need much power and like superficial vibrations, it might do the trick.
If you’ve used the We Vibe Tango and liked it, I’d say that it’s likely you wouldn’t get anything from this at all. Since my Tango arrived, this has only been used once or twice. It just doesn’t compare. This bullet is however extremely similar to the Mia 2, in size and strength. The only major difference is the price, there’s over a £20 difference. This is the kind of bullet I’d recommend for a first timer.

Lovehoney Rechargeable Silencer BulletIt lives up to the name of Silencer, even on the highest constant setting, it cannot be heard under a duvet. Discretion is key living at home, which is why I originally chose this, but I’ve since accumulated stronger vibrators that are quiet enough to use so this doesn’t see the light of day much anymore. I would however take this away as a travel toy, it does what I need it do with some effort and assistance from a glass dildo. It has a travel lock, it charges fast and it’s inexpensive, I wouldn’t be that upset if I left it behind either.

The slightly tapered tip offers precise clitoral stimulation, so it’s a shame that it’s not quite strong enough for me anymore, but it was great as a first rechargeable. It’s fully waterproof so great for use in the bath or shower and the perfect size to be held between a couple during sex. It’s easy to operate and clean. Cleaning involves a spritz of cleaner and a rinse under the tap.

The only other thing I dislike about the toy besides the things I’ve already mentioned regarding the patterns, is the colour. Where are all the fun bright blue or green vibrators at? I need some variety and by that I don’t just mean different shades of pink.

You can no longer purchase the Lovehoney USB Rechargeable Silencer Bullet (£19.99) as it has since been discontinued. You can check out Lovehoney’s other bullet vibrator options here. Affiliate links have been used this post.
