I purchased the Je Joue Mimi Soft during Lovehoney’s Christmas Day sale. I chose the Soft version as I expected it be more comfortable to use for longer periods of time and thought it would possibly have less drag than the regular Mimi. Lovehoney offer the Mimi Soft in two colour options, black (which I have) and purple, but you can get a pink or lilac version directly from Je Joue if you’d prefer.
The Mimi Soft arrived discreetly as expected, managing to be with me just a couple of days into the new year, which was pretty speedy considering the Christmas rush. It was packaged inside a black and white cardboard sleeve, featuring some product information and some simple detailing. Inside this sleeve, was a sturdy black storage box, housing the Mimi soft on one side and the manual, charger and a silky branded blindfold in the other.
The Mimi Soft is made from a luxurious, velvety-smooth and waterproof silicone. It has minimal drag to it as I’d anticipated, but a small amount of water-based lubricant would still be recommended for maximum comfort. Being waterproof, it’s ridiculously easy to clean. Just rinse under running water, spray with toy cleaner and leave it to dry. It has no texture so needs no particular care or attention during this process.
The Mimi Soft is rechargeable and charges via a three-pin plug and magnetic charging clip. It’s much stronger than the chargers that come with toys by We-Vibe, so there’s no need to worry about it easily disconnecting. The magnetic clip will only attach to the magnetic buttons one way and will begin to pull when it’s facing the correct direction. The plug will light up blue and the toy itself will flash red as it begins to charge, turning to a steady glow once it’s fully charged. It takes roughly two hours, but this gives you the same amount of playtime.
How does the Mimi Soft work? Well, it has an easy to grasp three button interface. The (+) button turns the toy on and increases intensity, the (-) button turns the toy off and decreases intensity and the middle button operates the patterns. There are five speeds and 6 patterns to choose from.
I’ve been quite impressed with the Mimi Soft and found it has become a regular between my sheets. It’s become one of my go-to toys, as it’s quite reliable. It isn’t the strongest/rawest clitoral vibrator that I have and it does take me longer to orgasm with it, well longer than a session with the Tango, but it’s still enjoyable nonetheless.
In my opinion, all of the constant speeds have some depth and rumble to them, but this begins to get lost once the Mimi hits its fifth and final speed. It started to become buzzy, which was slightly disappointing. It’s not however, buzzy enough to put me off using it. I use settings four and five primarily as they’re simply much more powerful than the rest and that’s what I need in order to orgasm. The vibrations do begin to penetrate the surface underneath my clitoral hood, but they never quite manage to fully get there. I believe this could be down to the silicone, so the vibrations should have been amped up a little bit in the first place, knowing that this could potentially happen.
I’m not fond of patterns at the best of times, which I’m sure you’ll know if you’ve read my reviews before, but I always try them out for the purpose of writing a fair review. None of the patterns on the Mimi Soft convinced me that they were worth a try, with a total of none being usable to me. None of them were strong enough, most were off-putting or simply plain/buzzy. A couple of them were buzzy to the point of being hand-numbing and definitely not a sensation I’d want anywhere near my clitoris.
From the experiences I’ve had over the last six months with the Mimi Soft, I’ve come to the conclusion that whilst it’s great for solo use, couples play is where it really shines. It’s the perfect size and shape to use during sex, as it doesn’t get in the way and it doesn’t make me orgasm too quickly either. When I am in the mood for multiple clitoral orgasms during penetration, I reach for the Mimi Soft rather than my beloved Tango. It’s not quite as raw, so doesn’t make me feel overly sensitive or begin to cause discomfort after a couple of climaxes. I can continue to enjoy the pleasure for much longer, due to the squishy tip and not so abrasive vibrations.
Noise wise, it’s pretty quiet when in contact with the clitoris, but there’s a faint sound of motor whirling in the background. Not particularly noticeable with some background noise, duvet covering or a closed-door. I’m happy to use this with others in the house, but not if they’re in the next room. I do have thin walls though, so I just wouldn’t want to risk it.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my Mimi Soft and would say it was definitely worth the purchase. It has many great things going for it such as being waterproof, super comfortable to hold, easy to use, rechargeable, holds a good play to charge time ratio and doesn’t decrease in power as the battery begins to run low. The only negatives would be the patterns and the slight buzzing on the fifth speed. I would recommend the Je Joue Mimi Soft to anybody who likes a softer clitoral vibrator, likes moderate verging on high power and prefers rumbly over buzzy vibrations. I would have liked a little more power and rumble from it, but all in all, it’s a great toy and has become one of my firm favourites.
You can purchase the Je Joue Mimi Soft (£69.99) from Lovehoney.
