Review: Bondage Boutique Beginners Feather Tickler

Bondage Boutique Beginners Feather TicklerI think everyone should have at least one feather tickler in their kit. You don’t need to be into bondage or kink to use a simple tool like this. It’s not intimidating at all and can be used for heightening the other senses, building anticipation or awakening the nerve endings below the skin. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you could incorporate some tease and denial play into a session and include some other tools like a flogger or pinwheel.

We’ve had the Bondage Boutique Beginners Feather Tickler for several months now as it came in the Mystery Bondage Bundle we ordered in 2016. The other handful of ticklers we own haven’t seen much action since. This is by far our most-used tickler and I wouldn’t hesitate to replace if need be. I can’t recall any packaging, so there either wasn’t any or it was just a plain plastic pouch. I would have liked a storage bag to keep it in as it keeps getting crushed under our mountain of dildos.

The feathers are delightfully cushy and have a good amount of fluff to them. I wasn’t expecting such quality considering the inexpensive price tag, but it feels like a well-designed product and I can see it lasting for a long time. It does look/feel cheapened by the shiny plastic handle, but it’s sturdy and reliable so I don’t see it breaking anytime soon. It hasn’t shredded at all since it arrived, even if the feathers are rugged on slightly. None have come loose or fallen out. This means that any fluids that have come into contact with the feathers (such as massage oil) can be carefully washed out and the tickler left to dry.

It’s best used in combination with a blindfold. Loss of sight heightens the sensations from the tickler further and keeps the wear guessing as to what might be coming next. I feel that ticklers are a very subtle tool that can turn a partner on quickly and prepare them for other sorts of play. We personally like to introduce soft flogs, spanks or the prick of a pinwheel between skin traces with the tickler to mix up the sensations and add some different sensory stimulation into the mix.

As I mentioned earlier, the tickler awakens all the nerve endings under the skin when gliding gently across a person’s skin. This makes all the blood rush to the surface, enhancing the sensations. Ticklers could also be used for relaxation purposes. I use this to tickle my partners back after a long day to help loosen him up or to tease him across his chest, stomach and inner thighs for another type of relaxation. They always receive great responses from my partner and he’d highly recommend this one.
