Remember the post I made about Lovehoney’s Mystery Bundles all those months ago? Well, I’m finally getting around to writing reviews of their contents. I’ve delayed on this one in particular as my partner and I have encountered a few problems with the Sweet Torture Vibrating Nipple Clamps. I thought it might just be teething issues at first and time would smooth things over, but that didn’t happen. I haven’t been able to get them to work with my body, or his, over that time frame and I’ve decided it’s time to stop trying. In theory, these stimulators were a great idea but I can’t say that the execution was right for us.
They arrived in a small, sleek box. It’s classic, simple and understated as expected from the Weekend Collection. The back of the box featured some information about the product, instructions for use and cleaning directions. Inside, a shiny foil packet stored the stimulators, a spare set of batteries and a small leaflet containing battery information. I do wish that a small storage pouch had also been included as this would have been helpful for getting the upper hand on cat hair and lint.
The stimulators are made up of hollow silicone sleeves that house petite bullet vibrators. The silicone is matte and silky, feeling effortlessly smooth to the touch and rather luxurious. I wasn’t expecting such good quality silicone for something less than £20, but it seems that I got it anyway. As no fluids come into contact with products like these I don’t feel the need to rinse them down with soapy water and clean following use, but I do like to give them a thorough clean with antibacterial toy wipes to ensure the surface area remains sanitary.
One of the great things about this product is the appearance. I feel that black was a good, gender-neutral colour choice. I’ve seen so many vibrating nipple products in hot pink, but black feels more inclusive to me. I feel that males, females and those who identify outside of those parameters will feel more inclined to use them and more comfortable when doing so. It doesn’t feel as though they have been marketed to a specific group only, which I like. The Fifty Shades branding is minimal and hardly noticeable unless up close, so I can see these being an option even for avid haters of the series.
To get started, simply slip the bullet out of the silicone casing and unscrew the cap to remove the little paper disc inside and then put it back together. There’s no need to fuss around with the batteries on the first use as there’s already a set inside each bullet waiting to be used. The life of these watch batteries never lasts long, but a few uses should be manageable before they need to be replaced. If you enjoy the stimulation from these stimulators, I’d recommend stocking up on your LR41’s.
So, how do they work? Well, there’s a pair of thin “bunny ears” (that’s the best way I can think of to describe them) at the top with a bead threaded onto them. This bead slides up and down the ears creating a space for a nipple between the bead and the bullet. It’s easy enough to manoeuvre and the design is rather simple. I think that these are much easier to adjust than some of the other clamps out there and for that reason, I’d state that they are ideal for people just starting out with nipple play.
For us, I’m not quite sure what the issue was. I don’t know whether it was the small size of my nipples and the flatness of my partners, but we just couldn’t get them to stay on or hold in place without the other person holding onto them. It sort of ruined the mood for us a little bit and nothing that we tried seemed to change this. I usually advocate for using nipple suckers beforehand, but even those didn’t seem to help much.
As for the vibrations, I didn’t get much of a chance to feel them hands-free, but based on what I did feel when my partner was holding the bullets against me, I’d say that they’re subtle. Gentle vibrations were expected considering the type of batteries used but I think there’s just enough strength for some fun teasing and increase in arousal. We have ended up using these stimulators as nipple vibrators without trying to make use of the ears and whilst that doesn’t provide the most intense sensation, it can be a fun way to tease before using other things.
In conclusion, it’s a shame that neither of us could get these stimulators to work with our bodies but that’s all part of the trial and error that comes with using sex toys. I do think they’d be great for someone who has larger nipples and those who just want to experiment with nipple stimulation, but those with smaller nipples should probably stick to silicone tipped clamps like the ‘At My Mercy‘ clamps from the Fifty Shades Darker range.
