Review: Lelo Mona 2

I purchased the Lelo Mona 2 in Red from my favourite adult retailer Lovehoney during the Black Friday sales last year. I believe I had a 30% discount code which meant I could buy this product for just under £80.

I have to admit that I’m a sucker for stylish packaging. I rather dislike the pornographic images of half-naked ladies with their legs open and would much rather open up a package to find a classy box with some fancy embossing, especially if that toy costs £70+. The Mona 2 arrives in a shiny red box with a picture of the toy on one side and the brand name on the other. If you left it brand side up, most people would probably ignore it. Inside this box, I found a sturdy, black storage box housing the Mona 2 within some velvet-black lining and in a separate area of the box I found the warranty card, user manual, a sachet of personal lubricant, satin storage pouch and the charger. Registering the Mona 2 was very straight forward. Go to their website, make/log in to your Lelo account, press register and fill in the information along with the number on your warranty card.

The Mona 2 is rechargeable via a three pin plug. A full charge takes 2 hours and is said to provide 4 hours of playtime. I find it to be a little less if you use it on higher intensities like I do, but it still holds a good charge to play time ratio. The charging point is covered by a silicone seal near the base of the toy, simply pull that back and insert the jack to begin the charging process.

As this was one of my first Lelo toys, I was unsure just how great the quality would be. The silicone is extremely smooth, soft and durable despite the toy being very rigid. There is a bit of a drag to it as expected, but a coating of water-based lubricant hides any evidence of that. There are no ugly visible seams to ruin the aesthetics of the toy, which just adds to the overall luxury feel. It was clear to me from opening the box that this is a well-designed and well-made vibrator. The Mona 2 has no flex to it, but I find this essential if I want it to work with my G-Spot rather than against it. Also, the buttons on the Mona 2 are much easier to press than the buttons on say the Nea 2, so thankfully changing functions is a breeze rather than a Bushtucker trial.

To turn on the toy you press the (+) button and the steady vibrations will begin. Should you wish to increase the intensity simply press down the (+) again until it has reached your desired strength, if for some reason, you wish to decrease the intensity, then you press the (-) button until it’s calm enough or it’s stopped.

This toy has 6 patterns also, all of which you can change the intensity of in the way that I explained above. To cycle through the patterns press the (⇧) and to cycle back down you obviously press the (⬇︎). I often find that patterns don’t live up to the strength of the constant vibrations, which is one of the main reasons why I usually ignore them. Patterns aren’t for me, which you’ll probably realise very quickly through reading my blog. I do however, enjoy the fifth and sixth patterns on this toy, which I didn’t expect. These patterns are great for warm ups or teasing sessions. The rest of the patterns I choose to act like they do not exist, especially the first two patterns, which are definite no-no’s for me. Stop and start vibrations do absolutely nothing for me, other than piss me off.

I often use the Mona 2 on full speed, but everything from the entry speed to the most intense feels rumbly, deep and below the surface. I crave rumbly, strong vibrations as the orgasms are more satisfying and the Mona 2 hasn’t let me down yet. It’s very quiet considering the power it has and I’ve had no problems using this at home even with the thin walls we have!

Slathering the Mona in my favourite water-based lube and covering my bed sheets in towels, I was prepared for a good time. I decided to feel the vibration strengths against my hand before I exposed them to my intimate areas, getting increasingly turned on and impressed with what I felt had me eager to get started.

Lelo Mona 2This toy sends me to ecstasy and back when it’s placed against my G-Spot. It seems to find it so easily, much faster than my partners fingers do, and that’s saying something.I feel that my G-Spot and the Mona 2 could have been made for each other, they are perfect companions and have been inseparable since day one. I am not usually so full of romance when talking about sex toys (or maybe I am when they’re this frickin good) but my love for this toy seems to know no boundaries.

I can take or leave internal vibration as long as there’s decent pressure against my sweet spot, but this has both of those qualities and executes them well. Rigidness and bulbous heads go hand in hand and make the best tag team, but I have never seen such a good pairing before. I’m going to go out on a limb here and recommend the Mona 2 to anyone who hasn’t found their G-Spot yet and hope the outcome will open your mind to the wonder of G-Spot stimulation.

Not only does this toy work fantastically at its intended purpose, but it is also a surprisingly good clitoral vibrator. I do own quite a few of those already so it’s not the main stimulation I use it for, but if I’m frustrated or numb from the Tango then give me five minutes with the Mona 2 against my clitoral hood and I’ll be masking in the busk of multiple orgasms. This is a great option for those of us who enjoy multiple orgasms as it doesn’t give clit-numbing sensitivity that other vibes do. I could easily go for six orgasms with this toy before giving up.

The Mona 2 is submersible making it super straight forward to clean, all it requires is a spritz or two of antibacterial sex toy cleaner, rinse and dry before putting away. I would still recommend rinsing before every use though, just because silicone is an absolute lint hoarder.

I do not know how I used to masturbate without the Mona 2, it appears frequently in my bed (and hand) and I’m not bored with it yet. I have heard mixed things about Lelo and the power in their toys, but there’s nothing to complain about when it comes to the rumbly powerhouse that is the Mona 2.
