Review: Lovehoney Bliss Orgasm Balm

Lovehoney Bliss Orgasm BalmIn my essentials drawer, I insist on having a constant supply of orgasm enhancers on hand as I use them regularly and thoroughly enjoy the extra stimulation. I have tried numerous gels, creams and balms of this nature and seem to return to the same product each time (Bombshell Balm), so I was very curious to see if this product would knock them off the top spot. I’m a person who actively requires some kind of clitoral stimulation during penetration and I’ve found that these products increase my sensitivity to a level that allows mind-blowing orgasm when combined with a powerful clit vibe such as the Mimi Soft Touch.

The Lovehoney Bliss arrived with no outer packaging other than some plastic wrap around the petite heart-shaped tin to ensure it hadn’t been tampered with. I thought the heart design was cute, it’s simple but aesthetically pleasing. I feel that the product labelling is discreet enough that I could leave the balm out and nobody would think twice about looking at it. It doesn’t scream that it’s a product intended for sexual purposes which I like. If it’s not being looked at closely it could be easily mistaken for some sort of beauty product. I think this balm is the perfect size for a travel companion and is much easier to slip into a bag than a bottle of pleasure gel. Whilst 20g of product doesn’t sound like much, it will easily last a couple of months even with frequent use.

Upon opening the tin I was hit was an immediate minty scent. I hadn’t reach about the product prior to its arrival so I wasn’t actually aware that it was peppermint scented, but I was happy to discover this. It certainly has a more distinctive and possibly stronger scent than the Mint Bombshell Balm but it has struck the balance perfectly between noticeable and overbearing. My partner was pleased with the scent too as he’s a fan of fresh scents when it comes to pleasure products. He doesn’t find it sickly or off-putting like a few others we’ve tried in the past. He also said that it doesn’t taste too bad either, following a couple of occasions where he made accidental contact with it, but he wouldn’t ever intend to get some of this on his taste buds.

It’s very straightforward to use. Just get a small amount of the balm on your finger and apply it to the clitoris and other sensitive spots. It should begin to work within around 30 seconds, developing a stronger sensation for the first couple of minutes before simmering down a little and maintaining a rather desirable feeling. It starts off at body temperature so the first thing I noticed was the increase in heat. It began to warm the clitoris which sends all the blood flow rushing towards that area. This is then followed by a tingle.

I love the tingling sensation, but heat was new to me as I tend to stick to cooling products. I’ve tried another heated product since this (Frenzy Pleasure Gel) but I still find it slightly strange. It doesn’t feel bad or burn/provide heat in a negative sense, I just think it can take some getting used to. It does feel incredible after a while though, especially if combined with ice or the chill of a glass or metal dildo. The mix of temperatures make for an exceptionally fun time and I think I’m more willing to try more warming enhancers in the future as a result. My preference is still cooling and tingling though.
