We received one of these in a 2016 Kinky Couples Mystery Bundle and I was quite pleased about it as I hadn’t actually tried a butt plug before. We then got a second one in the Big Box of Sexual Happiness (a Lovehoney advent calendar) which was perfect as my partner then had one he could use if he wanted too. The only problem with matching butt plugs is having to store them at opposite ends of the toy chest in order to not mix them up!
It arrived in a petite white and orange box with a picture of the product on the front and some basic information on the sides. It’s pretty simple and classic in design, but I loved the fact that it’s gender neutral and beginner friendly. Inside, I found the instruction leaflet and the Booty Buddy. It was placed within a plastic pouch which I’m assuming is for hygiene reassurance and lint protection.
Upon taking it out of the box, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the silicone used. It appeared to be slick and silky, which is exactly how it felt. It is super smooth to the touch and feels top-notch, which is surprising considering it’s so inexpensive. Being silicone, it does have a fair amount of drag to it so I would recommend using copious amounts of anal lubricant to remove this and maximise comfort. I like to use Sliquid Sassy or Lovehoney Discover, but anything water-based is fine.
Having never tried a butt plug before I was slightly nervous but as I’d previously participated in anal play with dildos such as the Compact, Warm Up and Slow Drive as well as having penetration from my partner, I knew the size wouldn’t be an issue. It has an insertable length of around 4 inches and a circumference of 2.75 inches, which is just slightly bigger than the width of my index finger. In all honesty, I think I probably could have started out with a medium plug due to the previous experience I had, but I did enjoy using the Booty Buddy and I still do now, albeit not on a day-to-day basis.
I decided that squatting over the butt plug was going to be the easiest way for me to insert it when I was doing so for myself, but it didn’t work as well when my partner was putting it in place. It seemed to be better for me to lay on my back with the Liberator Wedge below me. It’s really up to you how you choose to position yourself but make sure it’s comfortable and you’re relaxed for the best results. I thought the Booty Buddy glided quite easily with a serving of lube and it seemed to rest comfortably once it was in position.
In terms of how it felt, I enjoyed the sensations it provided. Butt plugs make the vaginal canal feel tighter, which is fun for both parties during intercourse. My partner noticed and commented on the difference that he felt, although it was only a small difference as I’m quite tight naturally. It placed a subtle, but noticeable, pressure on the back wall which made penetration more enjoyable for me and increased the chances of me being able to climax through sex. Before I was introduced to the butt plug, it was quite rare that I’d be able to orgasm from PIV without the addition of a clitoral vibrator, but now it happens on most occasions when I’m wearing one.
Being able to reach an orgasm in this way makes my partner and I feel more connected during penetration and it’s a lot of fun for both of us. It’s changed an act I’m not fussed about into one that I enjoy partaking in. He likes pressing on the T-Bar base to increase the amount of pressure that I can feel and this seems to add more intensity to my orgasm. I haven’t encountered any problems with it slipping out and I have no worries about it travelling or creating an awkward A&E visit. The base feels sturdy and secure, keeping the plug firmly in place until I decide it’s time to remove it.
Overall, I think the Booty Buddy is a great starter product and something that every fan of anal play should have in their collection. It’s perfectly petite which makes it non-intimidating and friendly for complete beginners, couples and those who are simply new to plugs. I’ve since got my hands on a few more butt plugs since this positive experience, so I’d highly recommend getting one of these if you’re curious about them.
