Review: Be Sassy Be Tender Vibrator

Earlier in the year I tried the Be Charming Lay On Vibrator from Orion’s Be Sassy collection and it wasn’t the best. Not all sex toys are suited to everyone, which is understandable, so I didn’t want to rule out the rest of the range based on that one experience as these products are silicone, affordable and well made which makes them great candidates to recommend to others. I asked Orion if they would be willing to let me take another chance on the collection and they kindly obliged, sending over the Be Unique and the Be Tender. This one is a lay on vibrator like the original toy I reviewed but it has a different shape so I hoped that would make me feel differently about it. Was that the case or did I encounter deja vu?

As before, I cannot fault the presentation. It’s plain with no tacky images to be found. The box shows a front and back view of the product and also offers up a couple of informational snippets. The sides just read basic descriptions in a host of languages regarding the key features. The box opens via a magnetic clip to reveal the vibrator behind a viewing screen, which is a nice touch, and it comes with a generic user guide and charging cable.

Unlike the Be Unique, the Be Tender is rechargeable. It has a port on the back for the jack to be placed into and this is covered via a moveable flap of silicone. The other end of the cable goes into a USB connector. The lights on the control panel will flash whilst the charging is taking place and go steady once complete. The box estimates a two-hour charge period with up to an hour of use depending on the settings being used.

Created from silicone which has a polyurethane coating and a small amount of plastic, there are no concerns regarding body-safety. It’s phthalate free, odourless and non-toxic amongst other great things. It’s also hypoallergenic which means that it can be properly cleaned between uses and won’t hoard bacteria. The materials feel high-quality and the vibrator itself appears to have been put together well. It doesn’t have any visible seams or rough edges whatsoever and aesthetically it is pleasant to look at. The resistance to the silicone is minimal as it’s rather smooth but a coating of water based lubricant around the areas that come into contact with the clitoris will remove that.

A slight gripe I have with this range is that neither the box, manual or website specifies whether the products are waterproof. The guide does indicate that cleaning should be done with soap and water so I assume that it is but it’s not completely clear. I have had no problems rinsing but I would exercise caution to others and advise making sure the charging port is completely covered so no water gets into that area.

Be Sassy Be Tender VibratorOperating the Be Tender could not be simpler as it only has two buttons. A power button which turns the device on and off and a function button that scrolls through the available modes. The control panel lights up when in use and flashes in accordance with the setting being used. It has eight modes in total with three of them being constant waves of vibration and the remaining five being patterns. I haven’t used those as I don’t enjoy them and prefer constant stimulation.

So how did we get along? Well I didn’t find myself feeling much stimulation when holding the toy as it was probably designed to be held. If I positioned the ears around the clitoral hood and buried the nose of the rabbit into it then I couldn’t get as much pressure as I needed and felt numbed by the vibrations faster. The motor of the Be Tender is as buzzy as the last vibrator I tried from the range but it seems to have a better frequency to it which means it’s not unbearable. It still becomes numbing if left on an exposed area for longer than a few moments but I discovered a work around as I experimented.

I decided to use it with a layer of fabric between us, be that a thin bed sheet or my underwear, as it felt much better. It dampened the power slightly but I felt that the pros outweighed that con on this occasion. It meant I was able to place the vibrator on that area, without it touching my skin, prolonging the time I could use it for comfortably. The motor is rather powerful so if it wasn’t for the buzzing I’d orgasm very quickly but as the sensations don’t travel below the surface level of the clitoris it takes a little longer. When there’s fabric between us I can get a refreshing climax in before the numbing sensation gets grip and takes over.

Be Sassy Be Tender VibratorPlacement wise, I use it with the ears downwards tickling the vulva and the back of the toy pushed up against the clitoris. It may not be the way it was designed to be used but it works for me better than the ‘correct’ method.

Sometimes playing around with positioning can make all the difference in whether a toy can be suitable to me or not so I don’t like to leave options unexplored. The method I used allowed me to push the back of the toy into the area that I wanted the stimulation focused on and I could comfortably lay on it and grind my body against it to get the desired pressure and sensation.

I’m not exactly sure why I’ve always enjoyed lay-on vibrators or toys that I can use whilst laying on my stomach but I seem to get my strongest orgasms with my head buried into a pillow. I feel more in control this way for some reason and more likely to relax and let myself get lost in the moment. I assume that it’s linked in with the way I used to masturbate in my pre sex toy era (grinding against something placed underneath me) as that would make a lot of sense. The Be Tender suits those circumstances perfectly so would be great for people who masturbate similarly to me or people who have mobility issues and need the vibrator to stay in place to do most of the work.

Overall, I would have to be completely honest and say that this is better than the one I tried previously. I didn’t hate this encounter and found ways to make it work for me. I would not be able to use it successfully without some form of fabric barrier between us due to the buzzing of the motor but this makes an interesting change from my typical unclothed masturbation habits. The other thing that isn’t perfect about it is the noise levels. It’s unfortunately not the quietest tool in my box and I couldn’t use it with others in the house unless I had background noise to drown it out. Outside of those two things, the Be Tender is a definite improvement on the last lay-on vibe and has definitely made me feel more optimistic and positive about the rest of the Be Sassy collection.

Review: Be Sassy Be Unique Dual Stimulation Vibrator

I don’t like ruling out an entire range of products based on a negative experience with one item so I asked Orion if they’d be willing to let me review another product from their own-brand Be Sassy collection. I had tried out the Be Charming Lay-On Vibrator from this range earlier in the year and found it less than impressive. It wasn’t my perfect match or even an enjoyable one night stand as it just wasn’t the right product for me. The vibrators motor was the main problem that I had with it although I don’t think it helped that my preferences and needs were different to what that toy could offer. I didn’t want to just assume that the rest of the range would be unsuitable and extract the same response from me so I accepted two more vibrators from the range with an open mind and willing vulva. This review is going to be for the Be Unique, a dual-stimulation vibrator with a shape I’d never tried before. Did it work for me or did it leave me feeling flustered in all the wrong ways? Read on to find out!

The packaging cannot be faulted. It’s simplistic and fairly plain with no tacky images in sight. The box shows an image of the Be Unique on the front and back and the back also offers a couple of informational snippets. The sides offer multilingual basic descriptions regarding the key features. The front of the box can be opened up via the magnetic clip to reveal the vibrator behind a viewing screen, which is a nice touch. Inside, I found the toy and a generic user guide. There’s no storage bag included.

Be Unique has been created from silicone, a completely body-safe material that is non-toxic, non-porous, odourless and phthalate free. It’s also clear from latex and is hypoallergenic, which means it can be properly cleaned between uses and won’t harbour bacteria. The silicone feels of a high standard and the vibrator itself appears to be well-made and put together. It doesn’t have any off-putting seams or rough edges around the rigid plastic control panel and it looks good overall. I think the material feels smooth to the touch and luxurious but it has the typical drag associated with silicone. A coating of water-based lubricant will remove this and make insertion and use comfortable.

Neither the manual, box or website specified whether this toy is waterproof but as the manual indicates that it should be cleaned with soap/toy cleaner and water, I assume that it is. I have not had any problems when rinsing it but I have been particularly cautious when rinsing and haven’t submerged it. I would not recommend using this in the bath or shower and I’d advise avoiding getting the base of the toy wet to stop water getting into the battery compartment.

It’s not rechargeable like most of the other products in this range and batteries do not come included. It takes two triple a’s and these are placed inside the above mentioned battery compartment. There’s a little switch on the base (underneath the word open) that needs to be flicked upwards to remove the cap. Once it’s been removed, add the batteries as the compartment directs and slide the cap back on firmly.

Be Sassy Be Unique Dual Stimulation VibratorThe Be Unique is operated via a simple, easy-to-operate two button interface. A power button and a spiral-like button. The power button does what the name implies. It just turns the toy on and off with a quick tap. The other button switches through the various settings of which there are seven. There are two constant vibration modes to choose from and five patterned modes. I would have liked three levels of speed instead of the fifth pattern but this is personal preference as patterns don’t do anything for me.

Beginners, gather around. This dual stimulator has a maximum girth of 4.3 inches which makes it slimline and suitable for those with little-to-no penetration experience and those who are new to sex toys. It’s also a great option for people who prefer slimline insertables. I like slim, medium and bordering on large insertables depending on my mood and sensitivity levels. This toy is great for occasions where I want internal stimulation from something petite. It has five and a half inches of useable length and an overall shaft of 7.8 inches which leaves a couple of inches to grip onto during use.

Dual stimulators are notorious for being the hardest vibrators to work with. This is because they are completely anatomy dependent. What works for one person, won’t necessarily work for the next. The Be Unique wasn’t the best fit for my body although it wasn’t the worst either. The short clitoral arm is what I typically look for as my clitoris and entrance are quite close together so I need don’t much length to reach the right spots. The external arm in this case does hover over the clitoris but because it tapers to a point rather than a rounded tip or separated ears it doesn’t cover the entire area or stay in position without some assistance. I need to hold it down for it to work with my body. This is not the worst thing in the world but I prefer to use rabbits that remain steady over that area so I can focus on the shaft.

Be Sassy Be Unique Dual Stimulation VibratorThe two ridged bumps on the top section of the shaft reminded me of the Tantus Charmer, which is one of my favourite textured dildos, and I had high hopes for it. The head of the Be Unique is firmer than the Charmer which means that stable pressure against the g-spot is possible and welcomed.

I need some firmness against this area to be stimulated to the point of orgasm and to my surprise, this toy has what it takes. I can orgasm from the g-spot stimulation it gives me thanks to those beautiful bumps. If it had an extra inch in girth then it would have been absolutely perfect for me as the slim shaft doesn’t provide much stimulation to the vaginal walls, which is something that I really enjoy.

The Be Unique has two motors, one in each arm. Both of these motors are buzzy but I don’t think they’re as high-pitched/high-frequency as the singular motor used inside the Be Charming. It can become numbing if used for longer than ten minutes or so but it isn’t the worst buzzing that I’ve come across and it definitely does not frustrate me as much as the last experience did. Both motors have an adequate amount of power to them although I could have done with some additional strength in the external arm.

Be Sassy Be Unique Dual Stimulation Vibrator

Overall, I definitely prefer the Be Unique to the Be Charming which was unexpected as dual stimulators tend to be my toughest testing tasks. The internal arm on this has a great shape and size for beginners but the external arm is not going to work for everyone due to it’s uniquely pointed tip. It didn’t particularly work for my body so it has to be my biggest criticism of this product. I do still think that the motors could be improved (with less buzzing) but this is a definite improvement on round one and I’m curious to see what the future holds.

Review: Be Sassy Be Charming Lay On Vibrator

Be Sassy Lay On VibratorI recently received the Be Sassy Be Charming Lay On Vibrator to review for Orion, alongside a couple of lubricants. The package arrived quickly and discreetly as advertised, with the items being presented in a delightful boutique-style branded bag. The packaging for the vibrator was nice and classic, with no tacky images in sight.

The back featured a few snippets of information about the product and the front showed off an image of the toy which then pulled open to reveal the actual toy behind a window of plastic, display case style. It comes with the charging cable and a manual, but no storage bag.

This vibrator is made from silicone, which is a completely body-safe material due to it being non-toxic, non-porous and free from latex and phthalates. It’s completely odourless and hypoallergenic, so I have no qualms about the material. It feels of a high standard, appears to be well-made and has been put together nicely with no off-putting seams around the control panel, which is made from rigid abs plastic. The silicone feels smooth to the touch, but being silicone, it has a small amount of drag to it as I expected. I would recommend using a good quality water-based lubricant to maximise comfort.

Be Sassy Lay On VibratorNeither the box, website or manual specifies whether this toy is waterproof, but as the manual indicates it should be cleaned with toy cleaner and water, I would assume that it is. It does have an open charging port, so I am particularly cautious when rinsing to avoid any damage to this area and generally keep water to the top half of the toy and use antibacterial wipes around the base.

It’s a rechargeable vibrator, so the USB is simply plugged into a charging port and the jack is inserted into the base. A light will then flash to indicate charging, which will turn to a steady light once the charge has been completed. It takes around eighty minutes for a full charge, which should give around ninety minutes of play depending on the settings used.

It is operated by a simple two-button interface. A power button and one that resembles a wave. The power button just turns the toy on and off whilst the wave button switches through the various settings. There are seven of these settings, which included two speeds and five patterns. When I turned the toy on, I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of power, but I’ve concluded that this was decent enough. The strength of the vibrations is average and I personally would have liked one more speed instead of an extra pattern, but this is my personal preference as I’m not a huge fan of patterns.

Be Sassy Lay On VibratorAlthough the strength of the vibrations are fine, the type of vibrations unfortunately are not. I found the vibrations to be on the buzzy spectrum, which would have been fine providing the vibrations were a certain type, but they turned out to be within the category of vibrations that I don’t like. I noticed within thirty seconds that these vibrations were numbing my clitoris and making me feel desensitized, which is something I really don’t want in my vibrator. I want to be able to feel the vibrations and enjoy them to the point of orgasm, but it’s just not possible for me to do that with this toy.

I find numbing vibrations to be painful, therefore I don’t reach an orgasm and I don’t particularly enjoy using the toy. I have used it several times and tried using a barrier of clothing in-between, to see if that would reduce the desensitising vibration, but it unfortunately did not. If the vibrations had a slightly lower pitch to them, then I may have been able to find a way to use this successfully, but as this was not the case, I have to say that this toy just isn’t right for me. I have quite a tough clitoris and it can take quite a beating from much stronger vibrations, so I would worry that those with an extra sensitive clitoris would find this even more painful than I do.

Be Sassy Lay On VibratorOverall, I really liked the presentation of this toy and I found it incredibly easy to use and charge, so I was left feeling disappointed when I didn’t enjoy using it. It’s quiet, body-safe and has a lovely shape, which means that the type of the vibration is the only thing that I dislike about the toy and unfortunately, that’s the most important part. If the motor was changed to something less high-pitched and numbing, then I would be happy to give it another chance, but as it is, I’ll have to sum up my thoughts on the Be Charming Lay On Vibrator as it being the wrong toy for me.

You can no longer purchase the Be Sassy Be Charming as it appears to have been discontinued. You can however check out the rest of the Be Sassy collection over at Orion.
