Review: House of Eros Dark Red Dagger Strap

As the winter nights draw in, my darker side seems to comes out. When it’s cold outside, maybe even raining, hailing or snowing too, many people gather inside to get warm. Some of those people might be snuggling under a blanket with a hot chocolate in one hand and a book in the other whilst others finally get around to sorting out that boring junk drawer they’ve been meaning to clear out for months. Me on the other hand, I’ll probably be found sleeping or engaging in some aspect of kink. If you’ve played around with bondage before then you’ll know that taking part in scenes can heat things up in more terms than just temperature. It’s certainly my favourite way to regulate body heat so what better time than the festive season to introduce a new tool to my box?

House of Eros Red Dagger StrapWhen I was asked what I’d like to review all I could think about was something I could hit with or be hit with. So that was exactly what I got. Bondage Bunnies selected the House of Eros Dark Red Dagger Strap for me and I was very pleased with their choice.

This is the type of implement that I would have chosen for myself and I’ve been meaning to try out this highly rated brand for a while now so first impressions contained lots of excitement. The packaging was minimal, just a plastic pouch with a brand tag attached. It doesn’t really need anything extra or fancy but it may be nice to see safety information included for buyers who are new to bondage tools.

One of the first things I noticed about the Red Dagger Strap was the smell. It is made entirely from leather and the smell of that is rather prominent. Have you ever been to a bike shop that was filled with vintage leathers? It was kind of like that but kinkier. Leather is a premium material and that means the majority of products made with it are high quality. I would say that this piece was rather well-made and smooth to the touch but the edges hadn’t been finished as evenly as the rest of the strap. This wasn’t much of an inconvenience or disappointment to me but it may bother some people.

Blindfolded with my wrists in chains, I could feel the suspense running through my veins. I lay on my stomach and waited for the hits but first my partner decided to do some sensory bits. This is important when engaging in a scene as it helps set the mood but also ready the skin. He started off with a soft feather tickler, moving it in circles on my back slowly then quicker. He traced each bare part of skin he could see before switching to a pinwheel that gently pricked me. The idea behind all of this softer play is drawing the blood to the surface, making the nerve endings stand up and prepare for further contact whilst building up the anticipation in the receivers (my) mind.

House of Eros Red Dagger StrapFrom here, the warm-up is complete and it’s time to hand over all control to him. He sometimes likes to start with a couple of harsh slaps then move into alternating gentle taps but other times that routine will be reversed. It always progresses to increased amounts of pressure with the later swings and this is usually what feels best for me. I enjoy the intense sensations that a hard slap will bring which for this particular strap is a very tingly sting. Impact tools are generally either thuddy or stingy and this one is definitely the latter in our experience.

The hits from this implement are more precise than I expected so I wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner or those who’ve not yet progressed past dual-sided paddle slaps. It has a long frame with not much width which explains why it gives the feelings that it gives. The smaller the surface area is, the sharper the sting seems to be. Each time this strap makes contact with the body it leaves a reminder in the form of red marks. It hasn’t made me bruise or left with cuts that don’t fade after a couple of days, which makes me think this would be an ideal choice for intermediate players or people who can’t have long-lasting markings.

House of Eros Red Dagger Strap

Overall, I think this strap felt brilliant every time its cold leather surface made contact with my skin. It makes threatening sounds with each movement, regardless of how aggressively it is used and I think I made an equal amount of sound. The only thing that I would change about this item would be the edges. If they were slightly smoother then I think this spanker would have been positively perfect. For the price, I would still highly recommend this to intermediate players and people who like precise pain.

Review: Tantus Super Soft The Vamp

Tantus Vamp Super SoftIt’s been a while since I reviewed for Tantus, but when I saw that they had released a Super Soft version of their famous Vamp, I couldn’t pass up the chance to try it out. I reviewed the original several months ago and I loved it, but the firmness is something I definitely have to build up to. It’s not a toy that I can use when I’m feeling particularly sensitive as it has very little give to it. Having said that, the shape and dimensions are both great for me, so I was excited to see how it would feel in a softer material.

FedEx arrived at my door a few days later, which is excellent service as I’m based in the UK and the parcel was shipped from the states. It was as unassuming as previous Tantus packages, with the only tell-tale sign of the contents being the legally required packing slip. The Vamp’s packaging was also typical of Tantus. A sturdy cardboard box following their orange and white colour scheme with a see-through viewing window on the front and product info on the back. Their products do not come with storage so be sure to find something suitable to store it in upon arrival.

Tantus Vamp Super SoftThe Tantus Vamp Super Soft is made from Tantus’s unique formula of 100% ultra-premium silicone. This formula is completely body-safe and free from latex and phthalates. It’s eco-friendly, non-toxic and hypoallergenic as-well as being bleachable, boilable and even dishwasher-safe. I tend to use soap and water for everyday cleans, but this Vamp has been placed on the top rack of the dishwasher for a deeper clean once or twice. I would recommend doing this on a regular basis if you’re using this anally and/or switching between partners/orifices.

Dimensions wise, I think the Vamp is within the medium range although it’s leaning more towards the large side. It’s not quite size-queen material, but it would be a great warm-up toy for people who like bigger toys, stretching themselves and pushing their limits. For me, this is not a warm-up insertable. I need to use something smaller beforehand to accommodate the girth. I generally use the Tantus Flurry as I find that isn’t a huge dip in size. The Super Soft Vamp offers up 5.5 inches around the widest point, the coronal ridge, and about 5 inches across the shaft. It doesn’t sound huge, but the head can take a few minutes for me to warm-up to as it’s just a hint above average.

Tantus Vamp Super SoftAs this toy is made from silicone, only water-based lubricant is recommended and I’d definitely recommend a good coating of this before using this dildo. I did notice that the Super Soft version was easier to insert than the original and I think this is purely due to the difference in firmness. It has some squish primarily around the head which aids insertion although the increased flexibility means I need to have a firm grip on it when maneuvering. I can touch the tip to the base without force if I want to, but it doesn’t bend without assistance.

When I tried the original I wasn’t sure what to expect due to its straight up and down shaft. It doesn’t have any curves that point towards g-spot stimulation and there’s no avert texture that would look to stimulate the vaginal walls. It took me by surprise though. It was actually fantastic for g-spot stuff. I was concerned that the Super Soft edition wouldn’t be the same as I relied on the firmness of the original, but it seems that it’s just as good. It takes more effort than it does with the original but essentially the same results can be achieved.

Tantus Vamp Super SoftThe Vamp’s head is so prominent, defined and noticeable that it becomes the source of pleasure. The coronal ridge grinds up against the g-spot with a reasonable amount of pressure, so then all I need to do is some quick thrusting or twisting. I couldn’t really thrust in the same way with the original as I found the firmness then became overwhelming or I’d accidentally hit my cervix which was much more noticeable than if it were to happen now.

Fast thrusting with the Super Soft Vamp means that the ridge continuously pulls against my g-spot in the most divine way imaginable. It makes me orgasm reliably, but is noticeably helped when I add a clitoral vibrator into the session.

I resorted to using the original Vamp during solo sessions as my partner and I encountered issues when trying to use it together for vaginal penetration. I felt like we couldn’t get the angles right and it seemed to be more enjoyable when I positioned it and maneuvered it myself. We had more luck with the Super Soft version, in that it wasn’t uncomfortable to do, but the positioning still seemed to feel better when done by myself. Having said that, couples play wasn’t completely out of the question.

Tantus Vamp Super Soft and Tantus Original VampThe original Vamp was far too firm for me to use as an anal toy, so I had to try the Super Soft out in this way and see if the shape felt good back there. It has a thick and sturdy base to hold onto to make movement easy and it’s also compatible with harnesses for pegging or strap-on play. I used the Cush beforehand to prepare for the size of the Vamp, as the dual density surface is easy enough to manage with a good coating of Sliquid Sassy.

It’s head went in with a little bit of coaxing and once the ridge entered I felt a highly satisfying pop. I’m working on taking the just under seven insertable inches this way, but I’ve only managed around half so far due to the increase in girth. It’s one of the bigger toys I’ve used back there so I don’t want to rush things. From my experiences with it so far, I can say that it’s enjoyable and I’m looking forward to experimenting with it some more. I would definitely recommend using it anally if the original was too firm for you and the size is in your experience level.

Review: Coco de Mer Teach Me A Lesson Spanking Ruler

Coco de Mer Teach Me a Lesson Spanking RulerIf you read my review for the Fifty Shades of Grey Ruler, you will already know that I absolutely adored the sensations that it gave and was hoping to find something similar. It didn’t take me long to come across this Coco de Mer edition, which features a cheeky ‘Teach Me a Lesson‘ scribble on the back.

All packages from Coco de Mer are picked and packed in the Lovehoney warehouse, so be assured that it will be completely and utterly discreet. I have to admit that I was disappointed that there was no actual outer packaging for the product, other than the burgundy tissue paper that Coco de Mer use to wrap your entire order individually. I usually encourage no-frills packaging on cheaper items, but Coco is a luxury brand and company, so I expected that theme to continue throughout. A lovely storage bag wouldn’t have gone amiss either.

The ruler appears to be well-made and of the quality I would expect, it’s perhaps a little rougher than the other ruler that we have, but it’s smooth enough, particularly around the edges to be comfortable. It’s made from a sturdy, lightweight wood and features measurements on the front like a regular ruler would, in both cm’s and inches. I wouldn’t say that it’s completely accurate or to scale, so I wouldn’t go around trying to measure things with it, but for the visual effect, it’s great. It features Coco de Mer branding on the front and Teach Me A Lesson on the back as I mentioned earlier. It’s also available with the words ‘Spank You Very Much‘ if this saying doesn’t float your boat.

My partner and I have gotten into more aggressive/advanced spanking activities over the last few months, so silicone and wooden spanking implements have become some of our favourite tools of choice. I find that these materials are the harshest and generally the best for leaving red marks, scratches, faint bruising and a stingy sensation when you sit down the next day. If you like all of those, then I think you’re in luck because as I expected, this ruler ticks all of those boxes. It has the potential to take me out of my comfort zone, but there’s something about that which excites me.

Before we use this ruler, we generally start out with something softer. I think warm up is really important when playing with bondage and it’s something that we do every time spanking takes place. I am a fan of skin on skin contact before an implement is used as this just warms up the area and puts me in the right head space to take the hits from something harsher. Once I am ready, my partner begins with gentle taps followed by direct, stronger thwacks. I like this sort of tool to be used alongside a flogger as the different sensations keep me guessing and the floggers hits are generally softer which breaks up the tougher spanks from the ruler.

I think hits from a ruler like this one feel much more precise than spanks I’ve received from wooden paddles, because it’s a slimmer, longer implement and the small surface area only covers a specific area of the bottom when spanking. It stings more than the crops that I have, so I’m glad I didn’t rush in with a product like this as I probably would be more reluctant to continue spanking practices if I had. It doesn’t take much force to get a very satisfying sting and a highly enticing slapping sound. I have been left with some marks after a session, but none that last longer than a couple of days and nothing that some aftercare couldn’t handle.

Overall, it’s an exciting piece of kit to use during sex and role-play, particularly for student/teacher scenarios and we both really enjoy the sessions where this product comes out to play. It’s not as luxurious as I’d hoped for considering its branding though.

Review: Split Peaches The Rivetor Small

I had already grown very fond of Split Peaches after spotting the truly wonderful piece of art that is the Unicorn Horn, but the second I saw The Rivetor I became well and truly invested. My interest has only continued to grow as they produce more fantastic designs and their latest toy named ‘Screw You‘ has left me fascinated. It’s a toy I absolutely must get my hands on asap. All of their designs come in a variety of size and colour options, so there’s something for every taste and experience level. I chose the Rivetor in a small because of the amount of texture it has, but it’s now available in a XS if you think the measurements might still be too much in combination with the bumps. I opted for the bronze colour as I don’t have anything similar, but it’s available in rainbow, plum, metallic silver and metallic green too. If none of those peak your interest, you can ask for custom colours or their new glowgasm feature instead.

Split Peaches The Rivetor If you haven’t already gathered, I absolutely love what Split Peaches do and they are a company I support 100%. The customer service is absolutely fantastic and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences when chatting to them via social media. They truly care about what their customers think and even take their feedback on board when creating new designs. I was pleased to be kept updated from the second my order was placed, which even included a photo of the two toys I was receiving prior to them being packed.

I was expecting to wait a while for delivery as the products are made in the US and I’m in the UK, but within a week I had both of my new toys in my hands. The packaging was unassuming as promised and both of my toys were wrapped inside branded tissue paper for protection on their journey, which was a nice touch. The package contained both of my toys and an envelope which contained a signed note from Andy (the owner), stickers and some temporary tattoos. The Rivetor itself was housed inside a plastic tube (similar to Vixen packaging) with the brand name printed on one side.

When I removed The Rivetor from the tube, I was immediately impressed. I had heard great things about the feel of Split Peaches silicone and those things were all proved to be true. I underestimated how soft and luxurious it would feel, but was pleased to discover it was of a fantastic standard. It’s completely body-safe because it’s made from a high-grade premium silicone, which is hypoallergenic, non-toxic and free from phthalates. It’s really easy to clean for everyday use as you just need toy cleaner and water, but you can place it in the dishwasher or boil it for a deeper clean when required. This particular toy had more drag to it than the Unicorn Horn, but I think that’s purely down to how textured it is. I haven’t come across many textured toys that don’t have drag, particularly when made from silicone, so it was just an excuse to get my favourite bottle of Sliquid out!

Split Peaches The Rivetor 2As I mentioned earlier I received the small, which is actually not that small in terms of girth. It’s quite average in terms of length though with roughly 5.5″ insertable inches. If you’re new to penetration and/or textured toys, I would probably opt for the extra small as this toy has a maximum girth of 5.9″ inches around the widest point of the head, which is definitely above average, heading into the large category. The shaft’s maximum girth is around 5.3″ inches, which is more manageable, but no use if you can’t get past the head. The extra small has the same amount of insertable inches, but the maximum girth is 4.39″ inches, which is much more appropriate for a first-timer.

I think it’s important to point out that this toy is quite firm, so consider the measurements carefully before deciding on a size as we all know that firmness can make a toy feel larger than it is. It does have some slight squish to it for easier insertion, but this is mostly limited to the head. It is somewhat flexible as I can make the tip touch the base if I want to, but I do have to be quite forceful with it to make it reach this point. It’s comfortable flexibility seems to be about 30 degrees in any direction, which again will make insertion easier but also allow the user to angle it at the best position for their anatomy.

I slathered the Rivetor in water-based lubricant and got to work. I find the points I mentioned above really did make insertion smoother and made for a better all-round experience when using the toy. I waited for a few moments after inserting the head to take in the size and wallow in the filling sensation that had become almost instantly noticeable. I think I made the right decision size-wise as any larger would have been stretching rather than filling and honestly I find that sensation uncomfortable more than I find it enjoyable. After a breather of enjoying this, I pushed the majority of the shaft inside and began thrusting quickly. I felt a building pressure against my g-spot within a matter of minutes and I knew what was about to happen, although I wasn’t expecting it to be that explosive. I ended up having a very intense, squirting orgasm at the hands (well, head) of the Rivetor.

Split Peaches The Rivetor 3I believe that the firmness, bulbous head and texture are perfect partners and I don’t think I’d have the same reaction to it if one of those three aspects was missing. I particularly enjoy the larger noduled strip of texture across the bottom of the head/start of the shaft as it’s raised furthest from the surface and nudges my g-spot whilst the head is hitting it with full force. It’s just that extra bit of stimulation that makes all the difference between a good g-spot orgasm and a great one. The texture from the shaft is not as intense, but it’s brilliant for stimulating the vaginal walls. It hits all the right spots, continuing my arousal and heightening sensitivity, which is exactly what I need in the build-up to my g-spot orgasm.

Overall, I can’t find anything to dislike regarding the Rivetor. It has one minor downside, which is the time it takes to clean properly due to the amount of texture, but I think the orgasms it gives are absolutely worth the time and effort. If you’re in the market for a steam punk dildo, then I highly recommend this ravishing Rivetor. It doesn’t get much better than this.
