Review: Lelo Ella

Lelo EllaIf you had asked me a year ago who my favourite luxury toy brand were, I probably would have answered Lelo. If you asked me now, I’d tell you to seek out better companies such as We-Vibe, Svakom and Doxy. I don’t support Lelo anymore, due to ethical reasons briefly explained in the disclaimer at the end of this review, but I thought it was still worth sharing my thoughts on one of their popular toys that I purchased pre-hex era, called the Ella.

One thing that I cannot fault this brand on, is the presentation. I’m a sucker for simplistic, but luxurious packaging and that’s what I get with their products. Inside the cardboard sleeve and gift box it arrives in, the Ella can be found within a tray for added protection. The box also houses a satin storage pouch, user manual, a sachet of personal lubricant and a warranty card. Lelo’s warranty lasts for one year, but they also offer a ten-year guarantee, which you register for through their site.

Lelo Ella It is made from a glorious, luxurious silicone which is free from latex and phthalates, making it completely body-safe. It’s rather smooth to the touch and has a minimal amount of drag to it. It’s not minimal enough that I don’t need to use lubricant though, and as this toy is made from silicone, water-based is the type to go for.

The material picks up a fair amount of lint, but not to the same degree as the silicone used by Fun Factory. It can be easily removed under running water and cleaned with soap or toy cleaner. This material can be cleaned more thoroughly with a 10% bleach solution or by being placed in the dishwasher, which I’d recommend doing if you’re switching between orifices and/or partners.

The Lelo Ella is around seven inches in length, with just over five of those inches being insertable. I think this should be manageable for the majority of people who are used to penetrative sex or insertable toys, but I personally would have welcomed an extra inch of insertable length because I’m greedy.  I do think that any additional length would have put beginners off, so I’m happy with what it has and I feel it’s still enough to do the job that the toy is designed to do. In terms of girth, there are just over four inches around the widest point. This made me unsure at first as it’s quite slimline for a g-spot dildo, but somehow, it works.

Lelo Ella

In use, it took me a while to figure out that it’s actually double-ended and either side can be used depending on the type of stimulation you’re after. I definitely have a preference though and that is to use the flat, rounded end internally and the pointed end as a handle. I have found that the flat end sort of presses up against the g-spot’s entire surface area really easily. It doesn’t overwhelm the spot but it doesn’t leave anything to be desired either. It hits it perfectly, stimulating every curve and crevice.

I can orgasm easily with the flat end, and yes, I mean a squirting orgasm, which is not something I can regularly achieve with many toys. I think there are less than ten toys that can make me orgasm in this way on a consistent basis, but the Ella is within that small handful. It’s a particularly intense orgasm when I add a clitoral vibrator or my partner’s hand into the mix. I have found the best way for me to consistently reach this orgasm is a gentle rocking motion. I have found thrusting to be uncomfortable with this toy, especially if I’m using it with the pointed end inserted, slow and steady definitely seems to win the race here.

Lelo EllaOverall, I think the Ella is a fantastic toy for g-spot stimulation and I can’t help but want to recommend it. It’s slowly being taken off the shelves though, so I would advise getting it sooner rather than later if it sounds of interest to you. I just wish that the pointed end had been smoothed over and rounded instead, as I believe this would have stopped the stabbing pains when this end was inserted. The flat side is the clear winner for me.

The Lelo Ella seems to have been discontinued from a lot of sex stores and Lelo’s own website. Will update with links if/when I find a stockist.

Review: Lelo Gigi 2

Lelo Gigi 2If you had asked me a year ago who my favourite luxury toy brand were, I probably would have answered Lelo. If you asked me now, I’d tell you to seek out better companies like We-VibeL’Amourose and Doxy. I don’t support Lelo anymore, due to ethical reasons regarding their decision to work with domestic abuser Charlie Sheen but I thought it was still worth sharing my thoughts on one of their popular toys that I purchased pre-hex era, named the Gigi 2.

One thing that I cannot fault this brand on is presentation as I’m a sucker for luxurious, simplistic packaging. Inside the cardboard sleeve and box it arrives in, the Gigi 2 appears within some casing for added protection. In a separate area of the box I found the charger, warranty card, user manual, a sachet of personal lubricant and a satin storage pouch. The warranty lasts for one year, but there is also a ten-year guarantee, which is registered through their site.

Lelo Gigi 2The Gigi 2 is rechargeable via a three-pin plug which is plugged into an outlet and the jack goes into the base of the toy. A light will flash on the control panel as the toy is charging, which then goes steady once the charge is complete. A full charge takes around two hours, which is supposed to provide around four hours of use. I find this is less if using it consistently on the higher speeds, but the play to charge time ratio is still much better than I had expected.

It has a four button interface, the + turns on the vibrations and increases intensity, the minus decreases intensity and turns the toy off, the up and down arrows control the patterns. There are five patterns to scroll through and three different speeds. There’s also a travel lock feature on this toy which is activated by holding the + and – down for a few seconds and doing the same when it’s time to unlock.

This toy is made from silicone, with a plastic handle. The silicone is soft to the touch and has minimal drag to it, but I’d still recommend using some water-based lubricant for the best experience possible. It doesn’t attract as much lint as I thought it would, but even if it did, it’s waterproof so it can be easily removed. I think the Gigi 2 has very manageable measurements and should be suitable for most users. It has an overall length of six and a half inches, with four inches being insertable and a circumference of four inches around the widest point.

Lelo Gigi 2

Have you ever heard the saying “Lord, give me strength”? I found myself mentioning this phrase often during the testing process with this toy and I think it’s the perfect summary of how I feel about it. I have felt stronger vibrations from toys that are operated by a single AA battery and that makes this toy so incredibly disappointing. I didn’t try the original Gigi, but after this experience, I’m incredibly glad about that because it would have been a complete waste of money. I’m having a hard time believing the original would have provided anything more than a tickle.

The buzzy vibrations from the Gigi 2 are honestly what I’d expect from a cheap, first-timer kind of vibrator, not a toy that costs over £100. I fail to see why an expensive vibrator like this couldn’t have included a better motor. Power is one of the most important aspects of a vibrator, but it seems that it was completely overlooked when this toy was made. It appears to me that Lelo were simply trying to make a vibrating version of the Ella, so they could make more money. I have both and I hands down prefer the Ella and I would choose it every time over this awkward, disappointing attempt at an upgrade.

Lelo Gigi 2

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this vibrator, especially at the rising prices that Lelo are setting for it. It might be quiet, rechargeable, body-safe and have a wonderful shape for g-spot stimulation, but I would much rather use a dildo than a vibrator that does absolutely nothing for me. I couldn’t bring myself to orgasm no matter how I used it, either internally or externally and I couldn’t even enjoy the surface level stimulation enough to get a build-up to orgasm.

Review: Lelo Liv 2

Lelo Liv 2If you had asked me a year ago who my favourite luxury toy brand were, I probably would have answered Lelo. If you asked me now, I’d tell you to seek out better companies like We-Vibe, L’Amourose and Doxy. I don’t support Lelo anymore, due to ethical reasons and their decision to work with Charlie Sheen, but I thought it was still worth sharing my thoughts on one of their popular toys that I purchased pre-hex era, named the Liv 2.

One thing that I cannot fault this brand on is presentation as I’m a sucker for luxurious, simplistic packaging. Inside the cardboard sleeve and box it arrives in, the Liv 2 appears within some casing for added protection. In a separate area of the box I found the charger, warranty card, user manual, a sachet of personal lubricant and a satin storage pouch. The warranty lasts for one year, but there is a ten-year guarantee, which is registered via their site after a couple of questions are answered.

It is made from a seamless silicone which is free from latex and phthalates, making it completely body-safe. It’s velvety smooth to the touch and has very minimal drag to it. I would still recommend using water-based lubricant if you’re using this internally or plan to use this against the clitoris and know that it would make the experience more comfortable for you. The silicone body attracts a fair amount of lint, but not to the same degree as Fun Factory. It can be easily rinsed away as the Liv 2 is completely waterproof, although I would advise caution around the charging port.

Lelo Liv 2The Liv 2 is rechargeable via a three-pin plug which is plugged into an outlet and the jack goes into the base of the toy. A light will flash on the control panel as the toy is charging, which then goes steady once the charge is complete. A full charge takes around two hours, which is supposed to provide around four hours of use. I find this is less if using it consistently on the higher speeds, but the play to charge time ratio is still much better than I had expected.

The measurements of the Liv 2 are extremely manageable and in my opinion, should be fine for most users. It is 6.5 inches in overall length, with just four inches being insertable. It also has a maximum girth of 3.5 inches, which is pretty slimline, especially for something that can be used as a g-spot vibrator.

Lelo Liv 2The vibrations are definitely buzzy, but they’re not the high-pitched numbing type of buzzy vibrations that I despise, although they do reach the verge of it at times. I would describe the Liv 2 as similar in strength to the OhMiBod Cuddle, but the Liv’s frequency of vibrations is better.

I don’t find the Liv to be painful to use internally, so I think it’s nice enough to use in that way, but it couldn’t bring me to a vaginal orgasm. I couldn’t get it to hit the right spot as a g-spot toy, as for me, the curve is in the wrong place. I like it to be up and under the head of the toy, rather than halfway down the shaft. The shape of the Gigi is much better for that, but those vibrations are also lacklustre.

I’ve taken it to using it as an occasional clitoral vibrator during sex, for those times where I want to last longer, as it usually takes around half an hour for me to orgasm with this toy. I don’t bother even trying to use this during a solo session any more as it simply doesn’t have the strength and after half an hour on my own, I’m bored and I’m tired, wanting to move on to something else. The only thing I really like about the Liv when it’s turned on is the minimal noise that it makes. It is discreet and quiet, just like me when I’m using it, it’s almost like the Liv has given up too.

Lelo Liv 2

Overall, I think it was worth the half sale price that I paid for it, but as Lelo have hiked up their prices yet again, I don’t think it’s worth the money anymore. I think there are much better options out there such as the We-Vibe Rave, Fun Factory Big Boss/Patchy Paul and the L’Amourose Prism V. If you’re wanting something for half the price, the OhMiBod Cuddle might be worth looking at.

Review: Lelo Tiani 3

I’ve always wanted to write a review for Lelo, so when I reached out and they offered me the choice between the Tiani 2 and the Tiani 3, I was beyond excited. I opted for the Tiani 3 as I thought the shape looked more comfortable and suitable for us as a couple.

I absolutely love luxurious packaging and this is one thing that Lelo have always done right. The Tiani 3 arrived in a beautiful glossy box with a picture of the product on the front. Inside this outer box, was a sturdy, black storage box housing the Tiani 3 and remote within some black velvet lining. In a separate section of the box, I found the user manual, two AAA batteries, warranty card, a sachet of personal lubricant, a satin storage pouch and the charger.

The Tiani 3 is charged via a three-pin plug. Plug this into your nearest socket and place the jack into the charging point. To find the jack you need to unscrew the head (just above the metallic band) and remove it, where you’ll find the charging point located inside. A small light will begin to flash to indicate its charging and this will turn to a steady glow when the charge is complete. I found that it took around two hours for a full charge and this gave roughly the same amount of play time. The remote control is not rechargeable, so make sure you have two AAA batteries on standby. The back of the remote control was loose when it arrived so all I needed to do was insert the batteries as directed and place the back into position. Once I’d done this, I took the key (pictured above), placed it into the small slit in the centre and twisted it at a 10% angle to lock the back on securely.

The Tiani 3 and the remote control are both made from the high-quality, luxurious silicone that Lelo use with all of their products. It’s phthalate free, non-toxic, odourless, hypoallergenic and completely body-safe. It’s also extremely soft and velvety, with less drag than I expected. Water-based lubricant is still recommended for comfort reasons. The metallic band around the Tiani 3 and the back of the remote control are made from robust ABS plastic, which is also body-safe. As long as the head is placed firmly back on after charging, then the toy is fully waterproof, which gets it some bonus points. I find this makes cleaning much easier and of course, it allows for aquatic adventures.

The Tiani 3 is designed to be worn during intercourse, it’s said that it will stimulate both the clitoris and the g-spot simultaneously. The internal arm does not vibrate, but the remote control and the bulbous, boxy head of the clitoral stimulator do. I am still unsure of why the remote actually vibrates, other than to let the person in control of the vibrator know what setting they’re using on the other. It wasn’t hand-numbing, which is good, but I did find this feature to be unnecessary and irritating at times. You can turn this off by pressing and holding the centre button for 5 seconds. The remote will continue to flash, but will stop vibrating.

The internal arm is extremely flexible, adjustable and quite soft. The tip of the internal arm is slightly firmer than the shaft, but it still feels squishy compared to the external arm, which is firm and rigid. The external arm is wonderful, it’s firm enough to provide a perfect amount of pressure to my clitoris, which is something that I need to enjoy a clitoral orgasm. The internal arm is a different story, I initially thought that it would be too soft to stimulate my g-spot, as again, I like firm pressure, but when it came to using the toy, I found it managed to hit the right places on several occasions. It has also managed to miss on several other occasions. I think the g-spot stimulating aspect of this toy only works in certain sexual positions and probably wouldn’t be firm enough for those who regularly use something like the nJoy Pure Wand.

We have only tried one other couples vibrator before and it did cause a slight pinching sensation, but that toy was much larger than the Tiani 3 so we hoped that this would be a better fit for us. My partner is quite large, length and girth wise, so the smaller the couples vibrator, the better really. I placed the Tiani into position before allowing him entry and he said he felt a slight drag from the silicone, so he applied some lubricant to himself and some extra to the toy, which he said made things a lot more comfortable for him. I found that missionary was the best position to use this toy in as the internal arm stayed against my g-spot and didn’t end up hitting my vaginal wall, like it did in rear-entry positions. I soon forgot how soft the internal arm was because once my partners penis was pushing it into my g-spot, it felt much firmer than it actually is. I still didn’t have a g-spot orgasm, but it provided more sensation than I was expecting to feel.

The Lelo Tiani 3 is part of their SenseMotion range, which basically means you can control the settings  of the toy without even pressing any buttons. To activate this, simply turn on the remote by pressing the (+) button and wait for the wireless connection to activate, you’ll know it’s ready as the lights on both the remote and the massager will illuminate. It will automatically turn on Mode 1, which is where you can control the intensity of the steady vibrations by simply tilting the remote. When the remote is horizontal the vibrations are very gentle and tickle-like, but once it’s tilted to a vertical stance, it reaches full intensity. I did find this to be fairly powerful, although the vibrations were only surface level and buzzy rather than rumbly. I usually can’t get off on buzzy vibrations, but there are exceptions every once in a while and this toy is one of them. It’s not the strongest vibration I’ve ever felt and is definitely weaker than the We-Vibe Touch, but it’s just about strong enough to get me to a clitoral orgasm. Bare in mind that I am a power queen, so this might be different for you.

Mode two is slightly different, as the remote can be moved in any direction. Faster movements will increase the intensity of the vibrations. You can activate this by pressing the centre button whilst in mode one. I personally prefer mode one, but it’s nice to change things up every once in a while and create something different. There are also six pre-programmed modes on the remote control, which you can get to by pressing the centre button for a third time, there is one constant speed and five pulsating patterns. You can increase or decrease the intensity of any of these settings with a tap to the relevant button (+ or -). Holding the (-) button for three seconds will turn the remote off.

You can also use the Tiani 3 without the remote control. Simply leave the remote alone and press the button on the massager itself. Press the button again to begin vibrations and continue to press to cycle through the pre-programmed settings, which again feature some pulsating patterns. All of these settings are set to 100% intensity and this can’t be altered without the use of the remote. To turn off the toy, just press and hold the singular button for around 3 seconds.

Lelo Tiani 3Overall, I’d say that this is one of the better toys I have tried from Lelo and is definitely one I’ll continue to use regularly. It adds something different to regular sex and is a great alternative to having to hold a bullet vibrator in place. It’s snug, petite and comfortable to wear, it doesn’t get in the way of penetration at all and provides some pretty decent clitoral stimulation. I’d have preferred more power/rumbles, but on the whole, there’s not much more I can complain about.

Review: Lelo Mia 2

I have been undecided about my thoughts and feelings regarding the Lelo Mia 2 for a while now. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just one of those toys that has nothing particularly wrong with it, but nothing spectacular about it either. In my opinion, its average. I may feel this way as I experienced the Tango first and it’s possible that I’d have enjoyed this much more if I hadn’t, or if I’d gotten it when I was completely new to toys. This just doesn’t live up to the rumbles that I’m used to, so I don’t use it much at all, but I don’t regret purchasing it, as I have a partner who does enjoy it.

The Mia 2 arrived in a shiny, black outer box with Lelo on the front and a picture of the toy on the back. It’s typical packaging for Lelo and I’m a sucker for it, I always feel that I’m getting the luxury product that I paid for. Removing the packaging, I found the Mia 2 resting within some black, velvet lining inside. Alongside the Mia 2 was the warranty card, user manual, a sachet of personal lubricant and a small satin storage pouch. It took a matter of minutes to register the one year warranty as it’s a really easy process. Simply go to their website, answer a couple of questions and enter the number from the warranty card, and that’s it.

After doing this, I decided to charge the Mia 2 fully. Again, this is really simple as all you have to do is remove the cap and plug the USB into your chosen port. It will flash whilst it’s charging and glow steadily when a charge is complete. It only takes around an hour, which gives about the same amount of playtime. It states an hour and a half of use, but I found it’s more likely to be an hour if you’re using it solely on the higher speeds.

I do find I go for silicone vibrators over rigid plastic 90% of the time, but the Mia 2 is of good quality and doesn’t feel tacky or breakable. It doesn’t have any visible seams or imperfections, which adds to the aesthetic and luxury feel of the product. It’s quite glossy and incredibly smooth, making it easy to hold, well until lubricant becomes involved. Rigid, glossy plastic and lubricant don’t mix well together as it becomes too slippery. I don’t find we need to use any with this toy anyway as it’s not been used internally.

The Mia 2 has two buttons (+ and -). Simply press and hold the + button to turn the toy on and hold to increase strength.  From the strongest intensity on the standard vibration setting, pressing and holding the + button will start the patterns. Tap + to cycle through the 5 available options. If you wish to get back to the standard vibration, then press the – button or press and hold it to turn the toy off. Pressing both buttons at the same time will activate or deactivate the handy travel lock.

When I use the Mia 2 against my clitoris, I find myself hitting the + button harshly and repeatedly, waiting for something more to happen. It just never does. I am somewhat of a power queen and the rumbles and intensity that I desire from a vibrator, are not present on the Mia 2. I thought that this would be a strong, powerful toy after having had great experiences with the Nea 2 and Mona 2, but sadly, it doesn’t live up to their standards and it’s earned itself a spot on the buzzy spectrum. It’s not even a strong buzzing either, which I’d have been happier with. I find the power on this toy be mediocre and nothing special. It doesn’t really do anything for me at all.

I’ve tried countless times to find a way to make the Mia 2 to work for me over the last few months, but I can’t force it to do something it’s just not strong enough to do. It doesn’t matter whether I use the highest intensity on the constant settings and experiment with the patterns, this toy just has nothing to offer me. I don’t find any of the options available on this toy to be impressive or particularly powerful.  The vibrations are surface level and slightly numbing, which for me, is definitely not a positive thing. I found it disappointing and I was more than happy to hand it over to my partner.

img_0574He doesn’t mind surface level or weaker vibrations, in fact he’d probably class this as powerful, as he doesn’t need much to get off. The Mia 2 has been a great aid in our bedroom if he’s taking a while to orgasm and wants a quicker release. He enjoys it being held against the tip of his penis and occasionally against his nipples. It provides him with that little bit of extra stimulation he needs to finish faster. Whenever I bring a vibrator into the bed, he seems to have stronger orgasms, just like I do, so for that reason I’m glad we have this. He can now use the Mia instead of my beloved Nea.

In conclusion, I am disappointed that I couldn’t get along with the Mia 2 and I’m saddened by the weak, buzzy vibrations it has to offer, but I’m pleased that it helps my partner get his rocks off faster, so it’s not an entirely wasted purchase. It has a few good points such as being quiet, rechargeable and waterproof, so I don’t think it’s an awful toy, but it’s not what I’m looking for. I could only see myself recommending the Mia 2 to those who don’t need much power to get off or don’t mind surface level sensations.
