Review: Licx Limited Edition Gel Lubricant

If you have not heard of the brand Licx, allow me to give you a brief introduction as to who they are and what they do before getting into this review. Licx are a company that aim to create an approachable space for people to purchase their intimate products. They are continuing to build their range and are very open to customer feedback and suggestions. I love to support companies that genuinely listen to what people want and aim to provide customers with the products they are looking for. I am really looking forward to seeing how Licx continue to expand their brand but for now, let’s talk about their new Limited Edition Gel Lubricant.

They package and send out all of their products in a discreet fashion. I feel this is hugely important with sexual wellness products as this can encourage people who may feel uncomfortable buying lubricants in the shops to pop online and buy some with just a couple of clicks. As is the case with past products I’ve reviewed from Licx, the presentation was grand. The lubricant comes in a patterned purple box with silver detailing and a half cut-out viewing screen to see the tube inside. The tube continues with the same theme as the outer box and doesn’t necessarily scream lubricant. It looks more like a bottle of hand lotion or similar.

So this product is the same as their original gel lubricant but it has been repackaged with this beautiful purple colour scheme. It is cruelty free, which is great news for me as an animal lover, and it’s also pH balanced which is ideal for vulvas and anuses everywhere. If you take a look at the contents of this lubricant listed in the quick review below then you’ll notice there are only four ingredients. I have noticed that lubricants with less ingredients tend to be better for the body, less aggravating to sensitive skin and more natural feeling. This one fits in with my observations perfectly.

I am a sensitive soul with the skin to match and I’m pleased to report no irritations from this product. Licx’s Gel Lubricant proved suitable for both myself and my partner as we’ve had no issues at all. It does not contain any glycerin or parabens but does include propylene glycol. Sometimes I have problems with this ingredient, sometimes I don’t, I think it depends on the amount that has been used within the product. If you know that this is a problem for you or you prefer to stay away from glycol then I wouldn’t recommend this to you. I hold out hopes that Licx will make an organic lube in the future that is suitable for all.

It dispenses via flipping the cap and squeezing the tube. I generally prefer pump nozzles as they are less messy/wasteful but Licx’s lubricants are quite thick which limits the risk of spillage. This lube comes out of the tube with a clear appearance and wonderful consistency. It is thick enough to avoid being runny or watery but not thick enough that I’d be comfortable using it for anal sex. I may be able to use it with a small plug but use with a larger partner is out of the question as there’s not enough cushioning for my needs. Vaginal use is absolutely fine though. It is suitable with all sex toys and provides enough padding for comfortable piv.

Once applied, it lasts for around 20 minutes. This is pretty standard for a water-based lubricant. If you need more time you can add some additional lubricant or simply spritz some water to reactivate the existing application. It feels nice on the skin, doesn’t become stringy or tacky during use and leaves no greasy residue afterwards. It comes off easily with soapy water and leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated. It has no noticeable odour or taste, although I probably wouldn’t recommend it for oral sex when there’s so many flavoured options available. Overall, Licx’s Gel Lubricant is a rather good lubricant and I’d be happy to recommend it if glycol isn’t an issue for you.

Review: Licx Arousal Gels For Her

When I contacted Licx about some review products, I couldn’t resist asking for these Arousal Gels. I’m a huge fan of orgasm enhancers and like to have a constant supply and variety on hand, as I use them regularly. I am a lady who requires some kind of clitoral stimulation during sex and I find that products like these increase the sensitivity enough, that all I need to do is add a clitoral vibrator and I’m all set to orgasm. It’s rare that I orgasm from penetration alone, so attention to the clitoris is essential for me. Read on to find out how this arousal gel works or jump to the quick review if you just want a basic rundown.

If you haven’t heard of Licx yet or want to know more about them, then I’ll briefly explain who they are and what they do. They are a company who are aiming to create an approachable space for people to purchase their intimate products. They currently offer two water-based lubricants, arousal gels for her and intimate wipes. They are still continuing to expand their range and are open to customer feedback and suggestions, so if you have any ideas, let them know!

Licx Arousal GelsMy package was despatched quickly and I received it just two days later, discreetly as promised. It arrived in a plain, padded envelope and there was no way of anybody knowing the contents. This is hugely important with products of this nature and I hope that discreet packaging will encourage people who might feel uncomfortable purchasing these items in shops, to go ahead and buy them online.

The packaging for the Arousal Gels is simple, sticking to the same theme as the rest of their products. Just a simple white box with pink detailing and the brand/product name on the front. The packets are designed in the same way, complete with instructions and an ingredients list on the back.

Arousal gels like this one, are so easy to use. Simply tear open the packet carefully and squeeze. I think it can be difficult to get the right amount from a sachet, so going slowly is key. If you’ve never used anything like this before, then I’d recommend starting out with a very small amount and work up to more if you like the sensation. I found one drop wasn’t enough for me, so I tend to use four-five drops per use. I prefer sensations to be a little more intense, but this is a personal preference, rather than anything wrong with the product itself.

I found that this formula took a little longer than most to kick in and only lasted around 10-15 minutes before it needed re-applying. Five minutes in, I was wondering if this product just wasn’t going to work for me, but then I felt a familiar cool breeze and a slight tingling sensation. I think it was just too gentle for me at this point, so I increased the amount used and whilst it still took the same amount of time to kick in, I felt more of a tingle, as well as feeling more sensitive and reactive to stimulation.

I like the texture of this product, it’s quite thin, but avoids being runny. It isn’t sticky or tacky feeling and I don’t feel like I need to rinse it off straight away. It has no obvious taste or scent, which is good as most products like this smell overwhelmingly of menthol. You get lots of product for your money and whilst 5ml doesn’t sound like much, it actually is when you consider how little product you will actually use. I’d love to see a bottled version to avoid waste as I don’t usually use the whole packet in one application, even with multiple applications!

Licx Arousal Gel

Overall, I do like the Licx Arousal Gels and I think these sachets are great for travel, but in my opinion, a bottle would be easier for home use. I do wish that they were a little bit longer-lasting and intense, so maybe they could bring out an extreme version in the future? I know this product will probably be strong enough for most people, but I seem to have a stubborn/greedy clitoris that always wants more.

Review: Licx Gel Lubricant

I’ve set myself a challenge recently to try out several new lubricants, as I seem to just use the same ones time and time again. I contacted Licx and asked if they’d be willing to help me out with my mission and they kindly agreed to send me their Gel Lubricant, Deluxe Cream Lubricant and some Arousal Gels in exchange for an honest review. Huge thank you to Licx for kickstarting my search and allowing me to experience the joys of this lubricant, that I may not have tried otherwise. Keep reading to find out those joys, or skip to the quick review, if you just want a basic rundown of the product.

I support those companies who genuinely listen to what people want and aim to provide customers with the products they are looking for. I am looking forward to seeing how Licx expand their range and I’m hoping the next product will be a high quality silicone lubricant. (I’ll be first in line wanting to try that!)

As you can see from the above pictures, the packaging is very similar to that of the Deluxe Cream Lubricant, with the only difference being colour.  Just a deep purple box with silver detailing and the brand/product name on the front. The tube continues with the same theme as the outer box, being simple and classic in design also. I feel these products could be left out amongst other items and not really noticed as they don’t scream lubricant (like Durex ones do). The tube does feature a hygiene seal for added confidence that it hasn’t been tampered with, which I’m always happy to find on my lubricants.

Once again, I asked for the 100ml tube of this lubricant, as I like to try out smaller sizes first, so I don’t end up with a huge bottle of lubricant that I dislike. It’s available in 5ml sachets and 250ml bottles too. As this size comes in a tube, the lubricant is dispensed via flipping the cap and squeezing. I generally don’t like this method of dispensing as I find it can be messy and wasteful, but the Licx lubricants are fairly thick, so it’s easy to get the desired amount of product.

The Gel Lubricant comes out of the tube with a clear appearance and great consistency. I was expecting it to be a little watery or runny, but this isn’t the case at all. It’s the complete opposite of the Cream Lubricant in terms of texture, which might seem obvious, but this one isn’t stringy like that one is, nor does the consistency change once it’s rubbed in. Once it is applied, I found it lasted for quite a while, usually I find water-based lubricants require a top up every twenty minutes or so, but this one lasts a little bit longer and can be revitalised with a quick spritz of water. On top of this, it’s moisturising and leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated, rather than sticky. It has no particular odour or taste, although I probably wouldn’t recommend it for oral sex.

Overall, I prefer this lubricant to the Cream one for multiple reasons. Most importantly, this one is paraben free. It does contain Propylene Glycol however, which some people prefer not to use. I do fit into this category, but I have had no reactions from using this product, so I can make the exception. It has a better texture and consistency, it doesn’t change from its original state, nor does it become stringy or sticky like the Cream one does, which can be off-putting.  It’s longer-lasting and feels better on the skin, so I’d be much happier to recommend this lubricant to others. I would be happy to use this lubricant again and would consider purchasing a bigger bottle in the future.

Review: Licx Deluxe Cream Lubricant

Recently, I received an email from a lovely lady, who wanted to know if there were any lubricants, other than Sliquid, that I’d recommend. It then dawned on me that I don’t give many other brands a look in, so I decided to set myself a challenge of trying out several new lubricants. I noticed that Licx products are cruelty free, which is something I definitely encourage and support, so I contacted them and asked if they’d be willing to help me out with my search. They kindly agreed to send me their Deluxe Cream Lubricant and their Gel Lubricant, along with some Arousal Gels in exchange for an honest review. If you wish to just read the basic facts of this product, jump to the quick review.

Licx is a company that aim to create an approachable space for people to purchase their intimate essentials. They currently offer two lubricants, arousal gels for her and intimate wipes. Their site states that they are still growing their range and are open to suggestions and customer feedback. I like companies who genuinely listen to what people want and aim to provide the items customers are looking for. I am looking forward to seeing how their business grows and what they decide to do next. I’m hoping their next product will be a silicone lubricant, as I think this is something they could do well.

My package was despatched quickly and I received it a couple of days later, discreetly as promised. It arrived in a plain, padded envelope and there was no way of anybody knowing the contents. As you can see from the above pictures, the outer packaging is a silvery-grey box with black detailing and the brand/product name on the front. The tube itself is simply, classically designed too, continuing with the same theme as the outer box. I like this rather minimalistic style, as it could be left out amongst other items and mistaken for a body lotion or something. I was pleased to find that this tube features a hygiene seal for added confidence that it hasn’t been opened/used. Strangely enough, I don’t see this much on lubricants, which unnerves me slightly.

I asked for the 100ml tubes in both lubricants, as I like to try them out in smaller sizes first to avoid ending up with a huge bottle of lubricant that I’m not keen on. Both lubricants are available in 5ml sachets, 100ml tubes and 250ml bottles.

This lubricant was designed with guys in mind, but it’s suitable for all. It’s safe to use with toys or for masturbation and intercourse. I personally enjoy thicker, creamier lubricants and having tried a couple, I was excited to see how this would compare. I have looked at trying a few others, but many seem to contain glycerin and parabens. This one, unfortunately does contain parabens, but on the upside there’s no glycerin. I think it’s really difficult to make a cream lubricant that won’t go off without parabens, so I understand the need for them in a product like this. I would prefer the lubricant to have none, but it’s not an absolute deal breaker for me.

Licx Deluxe Cream Lube

As this is a tube, the lubricant is dispensed via squeezing. I usually find this can be quite wasteful and prefer a pump (which is available in the larger size), but due to the consistency, it’s fairly easy to get the desired amount of product. The Deluxe Cream lubricant comes out of the tube with a white, creamy appearance and a fairly thick, decent consistency. Once it’s rubbed in, it becomes clear and slick, almost stringy at times. I find it to be moisturising and think it lasts a good amount of time, but it may need topping up during a longer session. The scent reminds me of hand cream, which isn’t overwhelming or off-putting.

Overall, I liked this lubricant and it’s only real downfall was the fact it contains parabens. This lubricant may irritate some people or be an immediate no, purely for those ingredients. I think I’d be able to give this lubricant full marks, if there was a way to make it without the parabens. I wouldn’t say that it puts me off to the point where I wouldn’t use it again, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it, even though I love the consistency, moisturising properties and the fact it’s cruelty free.
