Review: Mini Marvels Silicone Marvelous Massager

2017 has been another great year in the sex toy world. Demand for innovative creations has increased and a few companies have successfully delivered on that. There has been a lot of interesting releases over the past ten months but there was one particular collection that caught my attention. The collection I’m referring to was made by Cal Exotics and is named Mini Marvels. I haven’t had much experience with Cal Exotics overall but as one of the biggest companies in the industry, I hoped their award- winning Mini Marvels range would be as fantastic as reports claim. So when Peepshow Toys asked me if I’d like to review one, I happily agreed and opted for the Marvelous Massager. It had the most intriguing shape out of the available options and the gorgeous bright orange colouring simply sealed the deal.

The packaging for this collection is outstanding. It’s definitely suitable to give as a gift, whilst being secure enough to keep the toy safe and protected. It almost feels like it’s a shame to have to discard it. A yellow box with a very retro, vintage, pin-up style vibe turned up. It has an animated model on the front along with a viewing window and the product name. The box opens via the magnetic clip on the side to reveal the toy and charging cable behind a sheet of plastic. It lists some basic directions for use on the inside and has a rundown of features on the back. The only negative is the lack of storage bag.

Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager

It is made from a smooth premium silicone. This material is hypoallergenic, odourless, phthalate free, non-toxic and generally body-safe. It feels high-quality and soft with no rough edges or seams and it appears to be made well. It has some resistance to its surface as expected but a generous application of water based lubricant will remove this. It doesn’t attract as much lint as I anticipated but I’d still recommend rinsing it before each use. It’s fully waterproof so can be used in or out of water and cleaned up easily. I just use soapy water to clean it with and dry it with a lint free cloth.

Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager is USB rechargeable. It has a port located on the front in which the jack is inserted and a USB connector which goes into a laptop or computer. The control panel glows whilst the vibrator is charging and the light goes off when finished. I’d prefer a steady light to signify a full battery as sometimes I find myself wondering whether I could have accidentally disconnected it at some point and stopped the charge. That would be rather annoying if I thought it was full and it ran out of juice mid use. It only takes about an hour to charge and this gives up to thirty minutes of use on high and two hours on the lower speed.

The control panel consists of two buttons, an on/off button and a function button. There are unfortunately no up or down arrows so you can not go back a setting if you accidentally miss the one you wanted to use. You have to scroll back through all of the settings again. This can be frustrating but as there isn’t much space for a bigger control panel I’ll let it slide on this occasion. It also has a travel lock which is deactivated by pressing and holding the top button for two seconds. To reactivate repeat the process.

Mini Marvels Marvelous MassagerDesigned to be held between two fingers, the Marvelous Massager slides between the gap of the index and third finger snugly. It is surprisingly comfortable to hold, easy to use and stays in place so well that I can almost forget it’s there after a while. It’s a fun extension of the hand and is as petite as the brand name would suggest. Measuring in at just under three inches in total length and five and a half inches around. It’s smaller than a palm sized pebble which makes it a great on-the-go vibe to throw in a bag and travel with.

Offering up ten settings, there’s something for just about every mood and preference. The first three settings are constant speeds of varying intensities and the remaining seven settings are patterns. I don’t use any of the patterns as I think they’re off-putting. If you do enjoy them though here’s a basic run down of what’s available: wave of intense pulsation, fast pulsation waves, quick pulsing, very quick pulsing, up and down pulsation followed by a pause, slow stop and start pulsation followed by a quick wave and finally, a pulse followed by a few seconds of constant vibration.

Considering the petite dimensions of this vibrator, it has a lot of strength. I’m not sure how Cal Exotics managed to pack so much into its tiny interior but I’m not complaining. It is definitely powerful enough to get my partner off and it can also work for me on my sensitive days or occasions where I haven’t masturbated in a few days. The vibrations are primarily buzzy although the low speed is the exception to this. It’s not rumbly either but it rests comfortably somewhere between the two. I don’t mind the buzzing of this toy as it’s not numbing and surface level stimulation can be fun sometimes.

During use, I noticed it’s not something I’ve been reaching for during solo sessions. I think this is purely because when I want to get off on my own time I generally want something quick and reliable like the Tango or Womanizer. When I’m with my partner however I like to slow things down, take my sweet time and use toys that don’t get me off in less than three minutes. The Marvelous Massager is perfect for that because it doesn’t have the strength of the other toys I mentioned and doesn’t just force orgasms from me. It gives a build up followed by a relaxing, gratifying release. I have mostly used it during PIV to get some clitoral stimulation involved (I usually can’t orgasm from penetration alone) and it hasn’t got in the way at all.

Mini Marvels Marvelous MassagerMy partner decided he also wanted it to be used on him so we did some experimenting. If I placed it between my fingers whilst giving oral then I could run my vibrating hand up and down his shaft whilst working on the head to give him some additional stimulation to get worked up over. He has been known to orgasm much faster with the help of a vibrator so this unobtrusive designs works very well when incorporating into a hand or blowjob. It’s a lot easier to manouvere than a pebble or wand as it moves with my hand rather than my hand moving it.

Strangely enough, the Marvelous Massager can also be used during a massage. It doesn’t feel like a deep tissue massage like the Doxy Die Cast does but it can be used in awkward locations such as inner elbows, kneecaps, under the shoulders etc. This may not sound particularly steamy and sexy but a sex toy doesn’t always have to be. This one has a massaging multipurpose that’s lovely for having a relaxing night in with a partner. It’s nice and quiet so doesn’t disturb a chilled environment, wake up the neighbors or alert the people in the next room that a vibrators in use. We are very pleased with it and would happily recommend it to other couples who want something bright, colourful and interesting to add to their collection.

Review: Javida Double Ended Vibrating Massager

When I was asked what I wanted to review next for Orion, I spotted a couple of Javida products that looked interesting. I had already tried the heating vibrator from that line so I knew it was a good quality collection and all of the products seem to have some sort of fun quirk that appeals to me. I asked for the Nubby Vibe with Clit Stimulator which is a textured dual stimulator and this Double Ended Wand Massager which is a vibrator with two different ends for two different purposes. I was most looking forward to this one as I’ve tried a dual wand before and loved it; so I thought this might be an alternative that I could recommend to international folks.

Javida Double Ended Wand MassagerThe packaging was the same as the presentation for the heating vibrator, a simple black and pinkish/purple box. It’s decorated with floral graphics and features key product information on the back and sides. The front of this box has a magnetic flap that can be opened up to reveal the vibrator behind a sheer screen of plastic which is a cute touch. Inside, I found the wand, a generic instruction leaflet and the required charging cable. It doesn’t come with storage which is a bit of a shame but not a huge deal.

Javida’s Double Ended Wand Massager is made from silicone with a polyurethane coating and an abs plastic control panel. It’s a non-toxic, hypoallergenic and body-safe combination of materials. It doesn’t contain any latex or phthalates and seems to be very well-made and ergonomically designed. I was impressed with the feel of the silicone as the beautifully smooth surface feels amazing to the touch and has the smallest amount of drag possible. It’s silky soft but should be used with water based lubricant for comfort. Neither the box nor the website description mention whether this product is waterproof so I haven’t risked it and have been cleaning it with antibacterial toy wipes instead of soapy water.

Javida Double Ended Wand MassagerThis is a rechargeable vibrator. It has a USB connector at one end that needs to be placed in a suitable port and it has a silicone sealed hole in the back for the jack. Push it through and look for the flashing red light. This will indicate that the charge has started. It becomes a steady green light once the charge is complete. It states that it takes a hundred and eighty minutes for a full freshen up and this can last up to one hundred and twenty minutes depending on the settings being used.

To turn the toy on, press the central power button until the control panel lights up red once. Press the M or W button to control the vibration intensity in the head or the tip. M controls the massage head and has three levels of intensity. The W controls the vibrations in the tip and also has three intensities. The control panel will be lit continuously during this. After the third intensity has been reached in whichever end of the vibrator that’s in use it will stop. It will remain switched on but you have to tap again to cycle through again. Alternatively you can press the power button for a couple of seconds to turn on the eight functions. These can be used in either end. The control panel uses different colored lights for each mode.

It is 8.5 inches in overall length which gives you plenty of handle/grip room. It’s most comfortable to hold the slim end in my opinion, but both work well as stable handles. The wand has a maximum girth of 4.7 inches at its widest point, which is actually very streamlined for this sort of massager. It’s not very wide at all so the sensations end up being somewhere between pinpoint and broad. If you don’t really have a preference or simply just need something vibrating against your clitoris during masturbation or sex then something like this could work for you. The slim tip has a max girth of 4.1 inches so if you’re a beginner and want to play around with insertion this is a viable option for that too.

Javida Double Ended Wand MassagerI thought the first and second intensity in the head of the wand felt good. Both settings has some depth to them and were low-frequency. The third and most intense setting was faster paced, higher frequency and buzzy. The settings in the other end of the vibrator were set to a patterned buzzing of those three different intensities. It’s no secret that I don’t get along with patterned vibrations so I scrolled through the eight functions to find the steady setting. It was the same story as the wand end, first settings were good, third was buzzy.

I held the Javida Double Ended Massager against my clitoris wand side up to start with and expected to hit the M button straight up to the third intensity. I usually just go to full power instantly as I’m a sucker for strength, but I didn’t feel like that was appropriate with this wand. I was comfortable with the second intensity and enjoyed the depth behind this setting very much. I could feel myself climbing up to the steps to orgasm heaven gradually and that’s something I experience rarely with clitoral stimulation although I can appreciate it every now and again. Most of the time I’d want to orgasm in under five minutes so I could continue with my day or take a nap, but I can tolerate extra time with this wand.

Javida Double Ended Wand MassagerTen to fifteen minutes seems like an accurate representation of the time that it takes me to get off with this vibrator. This would usually be too long for me and I’d become bored and frustrated and end up switching to something reliable like the Doxy, but for some reason I make excuses for this toy and it’s become one of the few exceptions to this unwritten rule of mine. If I’ve had a stressful week I would usually opt for a drawn out internal orgasm to relieve some tension and built up pressure, but now I’ve begun craving external massages instead.

It doesn’t make me climax in the way that I had anticipated, but that’s what has left me invested in this vibrator. It has bought out another side to my masturbation habits that I hadn’t come across before and helped me discover something new about my tastes and preferences. I have learned that maybe it is alright to wait for the orgasm to pass naturally sometimes rather than force it out with something super strong like the Tango or above mentioned Doxy. This is a mid-range intensity massager and perfect for those who don’t need strength by the bucket load. It’s also good for power queens who think their clits have deserved a break from the battering of rumbly vibrations and needs some time to relax and release on its own time.

Javida Double Ended Wand MassagerAn interesting side use for the wand side is as a body massager. My partner likes it to be used as a massage tool, be that during an erogenous tour of his body or a soothing press against his aches and pains. Its oval head is great for getting at tight knots that bury themselves just below the surface and reaching hard to access areas but it doesn’t get into the deepest sores and aches as it’s simply not wide enough. You’d need a mains powered wand with a larger head for those purposes. For a quick run down after a long day or a teaser against the groin though, this is simple and effective.

As for the slimmer end, I don’t have much to share. I’ve tried it a handful of times and had the same experience each time. Average, uninteresting, not particularly exciting… You catch my drift. It just felt like a boring dildo when used internally and it didn’t have the right shape for my body externally. I couldn’t get the right amount of surface area covered, the right amount of pressure or the right angle to make clitoral contact feel good and empowering. It might be a better fit for someone else, but I just didn’t have much luck with it as a stimulator regardless of how I tried to use it and how many chances I gave it.

Overall, I think the Javida Double Ended Vibrating massager is a well-made, decent quality vibrator at an affordable price tag. It’s not without its faults and difficulties, but there are some great points to consider that outweigh the downsides for me. I may have been disappointed in the slimmer end if I hadn’t loved the wand head so much. It is the sole provider of orgasms on this toy and it provides a variety of sensations with a multitude of possible uses. It can be used on any anatomy or body and the vibrations are not awful. It doesn’t make me scream out in ecstasy, but it has taught me a trick or two about taking my time on occasion and letting some orgasms be laid-back and less intense. Not every orgasm has to be mind-blowing and leg shakingly good. Sometimes just a breath of fresh air is all that’s needed.

You can purchase the Javida Double Ended Vibrating Massager (€59.95/£54.64) from Orion.

Review: Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Magic Wand

I got Lovehoney’s Desire Luxury Rechargeable Magic Wand on sale, which I was really freakin’ excited about. It was actually a birthday present to myself as what else could a toy reviewer possibly need? I was honed in on the promise of a sleek, attractive toy that housed a whole lotta power and the bargain price tag was just a bonus. I’m a power queen through and through so I was looking forward to giving this wand a go and testing its limits. To date, I’ve tried a handful of other rechargeable wands like the Adrien Lastic Symphony, Fifty Shades of Grey Holy Cow and the Lelo Smart Wand Large, but this beats out all of those options.

This wand arrives in a purple and black box with an image of it on the front and traditional Lovehoney heart on the back. Inside, I found a leather storage bag housing the wand in some plastic casing. There was also the charger and an instruction booklet alongside it. This is different to the sturdy storage cases that are usually found with Desire products, but I rather like it. I was half expecting it to not have the feature I love most about the cases but to my surprise, it did. A charging hole leads out of the top of the bag allowing you to charge the wand whilst it’s stored away safely. This is both practical and smart for those of us who have kids and/or pets.

Charging is done via the mains. It comes with a three-pin plug (if you purchase the UK version) which is plugged into a socket and an attached connector that goes into a port on the bottom of the wand. A light will flash to indicate that the charge has begun and this turns solid once complete. A full charge takes approximately 180 minutes and provides the same amount of use time. This is pretty good in my opinion. The power does not lessen as the battery begins to die, which is a common feature on the cheaper rechargeable wands I have, so again, this is good. When the battery is starting to run low, the light will give you some warning flashes to avoid being caught off-guard by an abrupt stop when you’re five seconds away from orgasm.

Made from a gorgeously soft silicone, the Lovehoney Desire Rechargeable Wand feels delightful to touch and hold. It’s free from phthalates, non-toxic, odourless and of course body-safe, which is an important requirement for me. It does not attract much lint as the silicone is rather matte in texture. Lovehoney advise using a coating of water-based lubricant with this wand and I’d have to agree as it makes the vibrations feel more comfortable against bare skin. My only issue with this wand in terms of build quality is the fact that it’s not waterproof. Most of my other wands, including the more expensive and less powerful Smart Wand Large are waterproof, so this was a bit of a let down. Cue the need for a pack or two of these.

In terms of weight, the Desire Wand is quite heavy for a rechargeable. I don’t think I have any others that have this much weight to them, nor do I have any that are as large as this one both in length (13.5 inches) and width (8 inches). I wouldn’t say that it’s as heavy as my beloved Doxy Die Cast, but it does feel heavier than the Lovehoney Deluxe Mains Powered Wand. I have weak wrists/joints so I can’t use this toy for long periods of time, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re in a similar situation. I suppose you could always get a Liberator Wanda to solve that though.

To start the vibrations, press the plus button. You can hold it down to increase the strength. To cycle through the functions tap the central button. You can change the intensity for each of the functions by using the plus and minus buttons accordingly. To stop the vibrations, press and hold the minus button. There’s also a travel lock – activate by pressing the plus and minus buttons simultaneously for five seconds. The light will flash twice to indicate that the process was successful. Repeat to unlock.

This wand has an astonishing twenty functions on offer with five varying intensities. I am usually not fond of patterns and avoid them at all costs, but when I cycled through the settings on this vibrator I was surprised. I didn’t hate all of them. I think there a total of six settings that I liked, five being patterns. My settings of choice all seemed to be faster patterns. I don’t like stop and start type pulsations, but fast buzzing that’s not too high-pitched and stays fairly close to a constant mode is my cup of tea. Those settings were three, seven, sixteen, seventeen and eighteen.

Power wise, this beats wands like the Smart Wand Large easily. From the moment I turned on it was apparent that the power was on a whole new level. It doesn’t really have a gentle intensity at all, it just goes straight in with the mega vibes. For me as a power ranger, I’m completely satisfied with that. I wouldn’t recommend it as a first wand because of this though. I also wouldn’t recommend it to people who are very sensitive externally as I think it may be way too intense even on the lowest setting. If you don’t like constant external contact and/or find powerful vibrations painful, the Desire Wand is not for you.

Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Magic WandIf you like broad stimulation, then this could be great for you. I personally like both direct and broad stimulation although my preference is precision. I found the Desire Wand to be extremely satisfying despite this preference and I feel comfortable stating that this toy is a reliable orgasm provider for me.

It’s not as strong as a mains powered Doxy, but I think it’s one of the closest rechargeable options currently on the market. Only one worthy competitor comes to my mind and that’s the O Wand. The major differences between them is that the O Wand is double the price, comes with an attachment and is waterproof.

I can orgasm with my Die Cast in about thirty seconds as it literally just rips orgasms from me and the Desire Wand has a similar sort of effect. It takes a little longer, say two to three minutes, but feels equally as good. I feel that it’s great for solo masturbation sessions, foreplay with my partner and certain penetrative sex positions. It’s a bit heavy and bulky for constant use during close contact sex positions but it can great for the last-minute of missionary when blasted on full power. It has a firm head with little flexibility so it’s hard to get to those tough to reach places, so I wouldn’t use this one for massages. I’d opt for something lighter and compromise on the power.

My partner adores this wand almost as much as I do. It doesn’t particularly matter where I place it on his body. If it’s an erogenous zone, it works for him. He did mention that it was too intense against his nipples as he’s quite sensitive there, but he loves it against his glans, shaft and balls. It can force an orgasm out of him pretty quickly. I was surprised that he enjoyed this so much as he usually prefers mid-range vibrators with buzzy vibrations and this is the complete opposite. Most of the settings are rumbly with some depth to them. This ticks the final box for me as rumbles are what I desire.

Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Magic WandOverall, I would not hesitate to point power-loving, rumble fans in the direction of the Desire Wand. It might be more expensive than some mains-powered wands, but it’s cheaper than a Die Cast and has a similar level of strength and weight. This is one of the best, if not the best, rechargeable wand in our collection to date. We both love it. The only drawback for us is the amount of noise it makes. I couldn’t call it quiet or discreet as we can’t use this with others in the house.

Review: Sliquid Serenity Massage Lotion

One of our favorite brands in the adult industry is Sliquid. We’ve tried quite a few of their lubricants in the past two years and haven’t found one that we dislike so far. Based on all the positive experiences we’ve had we decided that we should try out some of their other products. I did try the Orgasm Gel before, but there were still a few categories left to explore. Massage lotions seemed like the obvious choice as we use these almost as much as we use lube and constantly run out. The Sliquid Serenity is a tad more expensive than our go-to oils, but it’s perfect for a special occasion or treat and being Sliquid, it’s absolutely worth the price tag. Read on to find out our thoughts or skip ahead to the quick review.

The bottle has simplistic labelling and a brown and gold colour scheme. It might not sound pleasant, but it actually looks good. I relate the brown packaging to the earthy/natural vibes that Sliquid have going on. The back of the bottle lists some key features, directions for use and a full ingredients list. I’m sure that plenty of you will be pleased to know that Serenity is cruelty-free, vegan-friendly and absent from Parabens. It’s not compatible with safe sex barriers, so please be sure to wash your hands before  placing one on.

It dispenses via a flip top and pour lid, which is super convenient and prevents miss and spills. The product itself is quite runny and it’s easy to over pour, so be careful. Never has the saying ‘a little goes a long way’ been more accurate. I was disappointed initially and thought that I wasn’t going to enjoy this product, but in the end, I did. The reason for my concerns was the slight greasy texture upon first contact, which is something that I really do not like in any sort of essential product.

Sliquid Serenity

Sliquid SerenitySliquid SerenitySliquid SerenityOnce my partner had begun to massage the product into my skin and my skin started to absorb it, it began feeling great. It left me with soft, hydrated skin and I felt like I’d just walked out of a spa. I thought that a shower afterwards would be essential based on the initial few seconds of greasy texture, but once it had been rubbed in the texture had truly improved. I couldn’t even feel any residue once the massage had finished. The only evidence that a product had been used was the smooth moisturized skin that I hadn’t had before and a beautiful aroma.

It’s worth noting that my partner and I both have sensitive skin, so I did a patch test beforehand. I placed a small amount of product into the crease of each elbow and waited for thirty minutes or so. There were no reactions at all, so I feel that this should be suitable for most people. I had expected this to be the case as there’s no real irritants in Sliquid’s products but I always suggest a patch test first, just to be on the safe side.

The aroma that I mentioned earlier is divine. Have you ever walked into Lush and wanted to stay in there all day smelling the various bath bombs? That’s the way that I feel about the smell of serenity. I could happily use this every day and not get bored with the odour. It’s a musky vanilla fragrance that can be picked up on immediately after removing the safety seal. It’s not overpowering or headache-inducing, but it’s enough to linger on the skin and in the room for a few hours after use.
