Review: Partner Whale Couples Vibrator

The term “couples vibrator” is one that sparks a great deal of debate on social media, blogs and forums. This is because these types of sex toys tend to be inclusive to one particular type of couple (a straight, male/female partnership) and don’t vouch for other couplings. I’m not majorly fond of the term myself but for the purpose of this review I shall be using it as this toy has clearly been designed with a couple in mind. I bet you guessed that based on the name Partner though. I do think this was intended to be used by a straight pairing but I believe that anyone in a partnership consisting of a vulva, clitoris and something penetrative (be that a finger, a penis or a dildo) could potentially make it work.

I haven’t tried many couples vibrators over the past couple of years that I’ve been reviewing, but the handful I have tried have all been at the higher end of the pricing scale. I was intrigued by the Partner range for that very reason as all of their current models come in at entry-level to mid-range price tags. I understand that not everybody wants to, or can afford to, splash out over $100 on a We-Vibe Sync or Classic, so I had high hopes that one of these models would be good enough for me to recommend as a more affordable alternative. I have tried all three of the existing models now so it’s time to answer the big question. Which one is the best? The Partner? The Partner Plus? Or the uber cute Partner Whale?

Arriving in a white and blue cardboard box with a glossy product shot on the front and back, I was pleased with the presentation. The images were tasteful and gave off a welcoming, non-intimidating vibe that would be ideal for those who may be new to the sex toy scene or introducing a toy within their partnership for the first time. The box lists some key features on the sides such as the number of functions, materials used and the fact that it’s waterproof. Inside, I found the Partner Whale, the charging cable and a user manual. There’s no storage included.

Made from a combination of velvety soft, smooth silicone and a touch of abs plastic, there’s no concerns about the safety of this toy. It’s non-toxic, latex and phthalate free, odourless and hypoallergenic.   I expected the Partner Whale to have some drag to its silicone body because of the ridged texture on the internal arm but there wasn’t much at all. It has some, as silicone always does, but nothing that a quick coating of water based lubricant couldn’t remove. I lube up both the internal arm and the area of the external arm that makes contact with the clitoris for comfort. After use, I give it a thorough rinse with warm soapy water and leave it to dry.

It is a rechargeable vibe with a USB connector on one side and a magnetic cap at the other which attaches to the corresponding prongs on the toy. The control panel flashes whilst the Whale is charging and the light goes solid once complete. The manual states that each charge should take around two hours, which I’ve found to be accurate, and this should provide up to sixty-five minutes of use. We’ve found the use time a little less but we tend to use it on the high power speed consistently.

There’s only one button on this vibrator and that is located on the external arm. Press it once firmly for a few seconds, wait for the control panel to light up and the vibrations will begin. Tap to cycle through the ten available functions and press and hold down for a few seconds to turn off. One button means it’s easy to understand but it also means you have to scroll through all of the settings if you miss the one you were looking for. I’d have loved a central power button with up and down arrows to change settings more conveniently. I hope this will be the case with future Partner vibrators.

The Whale has the same irritating order of patterns as the other two models that I tried. The manual states that pressing and holding the button down for two seconds will start the vibrations at the lowest massage level but from my experience with the Partner range so far, this isn’t true. All of them have started on high intensity before going down to medium, low and then the seven patterns. This is deeply confusing to me as the majority of people seem to like to start at the bottom and work up to full strength, not start on full and crawl back down.

I personally whack my vibrators up to full power straight away on most occasions so this wasn’t majorly problematic for me but I can see why it would annoy other people who prefer the opposite. I like a ton of strength with rumbly vibrations but this combination seems to be hard to find in these types of couples vibrators. Partner’s Whale doesn’t have any depth to its vibrations whatsoever. All of the sensations are surface level and buzzy. They couldn’t reach most of my external nerve endings. They do have a reasonable of strength to them and the buzzing is tolerable but it takes a while for me to get off from them.

The Whale has a very similar shape to the Partner Plus but the dimensions are different. The external arm is 3.5 inches around at its widest point which covers the entire clitoral area. The internal arm has 2.3 inches of usable length and a maximum girth of 2.5 inches. This is not very wide at all so I expected my above average partner to have no problems inserting him underneath it. My partner has a larger girth that provides a full feeling at the best of the times so I did feel rather like I had reached full capacity with both of them inside. If it had been much wider then I think I would have struggled to accommodate them both but it was manageable with warm-up and splashings of lube.

I can’t say that our encounters with the Whale have been the most comfortable sexual experiences for my partner. He felt that thrusting was difficult with this toy as the external arm kept sliding out of position each time he pulled back, poking his schlong. I think external stimulation is the most important part of a couples vibrator so the fact that the pressure kept disconnecting as the external arm moved back ruined the experience for me. This was not an issue with the Partner or Partner Plus so I can’t put my finger on a reason why this occurred with the Whale. I would have thought that the subtle texture made for better grip than the silky soft silicone that the others have but apparently not.

One thing I loved about the Whale was the internal arm. I wasn’t fond of the squishy, flexible arm that the previous models had and Partner have improved on that massively with this version. It has a firmer shaft that gives me adequate pressure and the added bonus of ridged texture on its inside. These ridges aren’t defined enough to bring me to climax on their own but I always appreciate some love and attention against my front wall. I felt the shaft was just about long enough to hint, grind and push against my g-spot in sync with my partners movements but it may not fit everybody’s anatomy in the same way.

Overall, I think the Whale has adorable aesthetics, a fitting colour scheme, better firmness than the previous two models and fun texture to add some extra flavour. It has all of the benefits of the others such as body-safe materials and being rechargeable, quiet and waterproof. It unfortunately also has the downside I’ve commented on previously – buzzy vibrations. For the next model I would love to see a change in motor. Low frequency, rumbly vibrations would be fantastic. I’d also love to see a three button control panel for ease of changing the settings. If those two things were combined with the shape of the Partner Plus, the dimensions of the Partner and the aesthetics and texture of the Whale then I think I’d have found my perfect match.

Review: VeDO GEESlim Silicone G-Spot Vibrator

Before I get stuck into this review I want to tell you a little about the company who sent me the product. That company is Peepshow Toys. If you’ve ever checked out their site then you’ll have noticed that they only stock body-safe sex toys, lubricants, bondage gear and other sexy essentials. I did my first set of reviews for them recently and absolutely fell in love with them, their site and their philosophy. They are extremely helpful and friendly and I love that they genuinely care about what us as customers put in and around our orifices. If you are new to sex toys and are unsure as to which materials are safe and which are not, then head over to Peepshow Toys and buy yourself something fun with complete peace of mind that you’re not getting something that will potentially harm you. I’m also going to shamelessly plug the fact that you can now get 10% off site wide with my code “NatandTom”.

I think the shape of the VeDO GEESlim is one that’s well documented. Virtually every sex shop I’ve ever visited has had at least one similarly shaped vibrator stocked. The dimensions may be slightly different from place to place, but all of the ones that I’ve come across have been made from hard plastic, look as cheap and basic as the price tag suggests and take batteries. The GEESlim is like an upgraded, luxurious take on a classic and it comes in pretty colours. I mean who doesn’t need more turquoise in their toy box? It also comes in the obvious choices of Foxy Pink and Into You Indigo but I love that there’s another option for those who want something different.

It arrives in simplistic, minimalistic packaging as expected. A white turquoise box with a product shot on the front, description and diagram on the back and further photos on the sides. Inside I found the VeDO GEESlim resting within some soft black casing and the charging cable and product guide were tucked away underneath. It doesn’t come with any storage but that was to be expected at this price point. One thing that I will say is that it may have been better to pack it in plastic rather than fluffy casing as some of it transferred onto the material of the vibrator.

As it’s made from silicone, lint is expected to be attracted to it but that generally happens whilst out of the box, not when inside of it. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly before using it to remove any traces of unwanted matter like pet hair or fluff. It is submersible so rinsing is not an issue but make sure the base is screwed back on firmly before taking it near the water. After use, clean with warm soapy water and dry naturally. This is a hypoallergenic, latex free and phthalate free material. It’s completely body-safe but it tends to have some amount of drag to its surface. There wasn’t much resistance in this case as the silicone is silky smooth and soft. A coating of water based lubricant clears any friction up anyway.

The GEESlim is not one of those cheap battery-operated models that are sold everywhere. It’s actually rechargeable. To charge, unscrew the plastic base, place the jack into the port inside and attach the USB to your laptop or other charging station. A red light will turn on to indicate that the charge has begun and it will turn green once finished. There’s no estimated charging or use time listed in the guide so I’d have to guess based on my experiences and say an hour and a half to charge with forty-five minutes of use time.

A singular button on the base is in charge of all operation. Tap it once to start the vibrations, tap again to cycle through the functions and press and hold for a couple of seconds to turn off. It’s easy to understand and perfect for a first time toy user. There are ten functions to choose from. There are three constant speeds of varying intensity and seven different patterns. The patterns are not for me as I prefer constant speeds, but there is a good variety for those who are interested.

Measuring up at just under seven inches in overall length, there are roughly six and a half inches that could be inserted. This is a perfect length for me as it doesn’t hit my cervix (when I’m fully relaxed) but I could also use whatever length I don’t need as extra handle room. I tend to use around five insertable inches and would recommend others do the same so you can get a better grip on the toy. The cap isn’t very easy to hold onto so having a small area of shaft free makes a lot of difference in how I can use and move the vibrator. It has just under 3.9 inches of girth around the widest point of the head which is a diameter of around 1.18 and the shaft is roughly 2.5 inches around.

Vibration wise, I was expecting less than I got. I think the vibrations are roughly average in terms of strength. There’s nothing particularly impressive about them and I don’t think they have enough oomph to satisfy a power queen but this makes the toy ideal for those who don’t need mega intensity or simply want to get a feel for vibrations for the first time. I thought the first setting was rumblyish, which was nice, but the settings that followed become buzzier. I wasn’t suddenly pushed into a beehive or anything as the sensations were tolerable, but ultimately are not my preference.

Although I said earlier that I’ve seen many vibrators of this shape, I’d never actually tried one of them. I have looked at them before and if I’d seen this particular one back when I was just getting into sex toys and g-spot stimulation, I think I would have purchased it. It would have been ideal for me as a beginner. It has the bulbous head and curve needed for this type of play and the slim shaft that follows is great for getting used to the feeling of something being inserted. It doesn’t push many limits and I see it as a gentle introduction to the g-spot.

VeDO GeeSlim G-Spot Vibrator

The GEESlim is quite firm which is ideal for g-spot stuff and something that I think is an essential factor for me personally if I want to potentially reach an orgasm. I discovered that thrusting was the best technique to use as the head could then batter my g-spot in all the right ways. It’s more of a bump and grind situation than a gentle caress and I’m totally fine with that. I need there to be a certain level of pressure applied if I’m going to get the job finished and I can get that with this vibrator. It felt lovely without the vibrations but those added sensations definitely helped bring me to the edge faster.

Do you need discretion because of your living situation or privacy fears? If you answered yes, then I’m pleased to say that this should be fine. It’s not silent, but it’s not mains-powered wand loud either. It is somewhere between the two and can be disguised if needed. If I closed the door to the room I’m in and turn on a playlist then no-one else in the house has a clue what’s going on. I have used this with people in the next room with no problems at all, just for reference.

Overall, I think the VeDO GEESlim is a top-notch, good-quality, affordable vibrator that is perfect for first time users. If you want to explore your g-spot with a toy for the first time then this is a great choice. It may not wow you if you’ve already got a lot of sex toys, but it is an excellent choice for those who are earlier on in their sex toy journeys and collections. We all start somewhere and this is a timeless toy that can take you on a basic exploration tour of your body. If you’re not sure whether this type of play is for you, this is an option that will allow you to explore without breaking the bank and dropping dollars on crappy vibrators. It took me back to basics and whilst it didn’t blow my mind, I think it could have done when I was new and not spoiled by the likes of the Lelo Mona 2 and the We-Vibe Rave.

Review: Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation

It’s no secret that I loved the original Satisfyer Pro 2. I raved about it on my blog, Twitter and the Lovehoney forum for months after I received it. It is still one of my all-time favourite toys and part of my regular rotation, but I think it might finally be time to demote it. Satisfyer contacted me recently and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing the Pro 2 Next Generation and obviously I could not refuse this offer. I was really pleased to see that this brand had taken reviewers feedback on board and gone back and improved their devices in order to create the best products possible. I have tons of respect for that, as that’s exactly what we as reviewers want to achieve in this industry. We want to encourage companies to do their best, so we can offer our readers the best in return. So, did Satisfyer ruin a good thing by upgrading the Pro 2 or did they manage to make a good toy even better? Keep reading to find out!

The packaging is pretty standard for the Satisfyer range, just a white cardboard box with a glossy product shot on the front and back and basic product information on the sides. Inside this, there’s some plastic casing that stores the device and charging cable. A user manual is tucked away underneath. As I’ve mentioned in my previous Satisfyer (and Partner) reviews, this company does not include storage bags so be sure to get something suitable on hand if purchasing one of their products.

Upon setting sights on the Pro 2 Next Generation for the first time, I noticed a couple of obvious aesthetic changes. The first, and most noticeable difference, was the colour. My original Pro 2 is a bright rose gold shade whereas this new version is more of a light bronze. The second thing I noted was the change in texture. The original has a glossy finish which makes it difficult to hold at times, especially if lubricant is in the picture, but the new version has a matte texture that removes this potential problem. The third change I picked up on was a subtle thing that’s been added; the Satisfyer logo embossed onto the front of the shaft. I like this as it looks like more of a finished product now.

It is still made from a combination of abs plastic and high-grade silicone. The body is all plastic but the head and buttons are premium silicone. The head feels a little softer and smoother than the previous models did, but I would still recommend using lubricant for comfort. As the head is made from silicone, the type of lubricant needed is water based as other types may cause damage to the material. It has the same visible seams as the original, which isn’t majorly attractive but once the toy is in use I honestly couldn’t care less what it looks like. It’s also still completely waterproof, making it a breeze to clean. I remove the head and clean with a 10% bleach solution but the rest of the toy is just rinsed with warm soapy water. It’s then left to dry naturally for as long as needed.

Magnetic charging systems usually frustrate me to no end, but Satisfyer have nailed a sturdy, secure system that doesn’t disconnect easily. I swear We-Vibe’s disconnect just by looking at them, so maybe they need to switch to these cables instead. The manual states that the initial charge could take up to eight hours but I found mine ready to go after half that time. It now takes only 150 minutes, which is not bad at all, and this gives ninety minutes of use. An improvement on the original which offers only a third of that.

There are now three buttons on the control panel. Hallelujah! I am beyond happy about this as the two button interface was one of my only criticisms regarding the original. Use is so much easier now and I love the fact I can go back an intensity if I should need to without having to cycle through all the settings again. There’s a round button which is the power hub, press once to turn on and hold for a few seconds to turn off. The longer oval button is the intensity changer and you just press the + and – buttons in accordance with your preferences.

As I’ve had some experience with these pressure wave stimulators now, I know exactly where I need to place the head in order to get the most accurate, direct and comfortable sensations. So, that’s what I did. I lay back, lubed up and turned the toy on. I felt an immediate difference between the low settings on this model and the low settings on the original. Both are very subtle, tickle-like sensations but the new version feels more refined and precise. I don’t know whether this is due to the new nozzle shape, which is longer and wider than the original or whether the motor has been tweaked slightly, but it feels noticeably better to me.

It feels more refined throughout the entire range of intensities actually and I’d say these sensations offer more depth to them than I could have received with the original. They penetrate below the surface with all their might and reach a whole bunch of sensitive nerve endings that can’t be hit with any other sort of sex toy. I haven’t used my original model much since this one arrived as I feel this one is more polished and finished, giving better results. I still love the Pro 2, but the Next Generation model feels a bit stronger and as a suction slut/power queen, that’s exactly what I’m looking for.

This type of stimulation can take some getting used to, so I’d recommend trying one of the entry models first to see whether it works for you or not, but this is the one to go for if you want the best of the current Satisfyer models and know pinpoint stimulation is right for you. It offers very direct clitoral contact and as it is designed to stay in place from start to finish, this is not a toy that will work for those who need broad stimulation or are very sensitive clitorally. I love precise contact, so this is a joy for me to use, especially on intensities seven and above. I can orgasm in less than three minutes 99% of the times I use this. I love a toy that is reliable and consistent, so I’m struggling to fault this at the moment.

Outside of the suction/vibration thing the Pro 2 Next Generation has going on, it also offers a cooling breeze to the clitoris. Have you ever tried an orgasm gel or balm that’s designed to increase sensitivity and heighten sensations? Well, it feels like that and makes my clitoris tingle a little. This is part of the reason I believe my orgasms are achieved easily with this toy as I become so heightened by the combination of everything that’s going on that my body just can’t hold the pleasure waves in any longer.

Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation

Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation

So, how do I rate this in comparison to the original? I would personally say that it is better and the improvements were all welcomed. It looks better aesthetically, is easier to hold/use due to the matte texture and new control panel and the new nozzle makes the stimulation feel more refined. It’s marketed as being quieter too and I’d have to agree with Satisfyer on that. It is quieter. It’s never going to be a silent toy as the mechanisms that go into the motor make some noise when in action, but some of the noise levels decrease upon skin to nozzle contact and a closed-door drowns out the rest. The only thing that I’d love to see from them now is the inclusion of a storage pouch with each device. I’m not sure they could do anything else to make me fall deeper in love with the Pro 2.

Review: B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2

B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2I’ll preface this review by saying that I never had the pleasure of trying the original B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug despite looking at it a bunch of times, so I can’t comment on whether this is an improved version or not. However, I can comment on whether I think the sensations are similar to the act of rimming and sum up my overall experience with the Rimming Plug 2.

Before I get into any of that though I want to take a moment to appreciate B-Vibe as I think they do fantastic work promoting safe, enjoyable anal play for every body. Their website is filled with useful information regarding backdoor fun and I think anyone with questions regarding safety etc should go and check out their faq as it’s likely they’ll find answers there. As I think this company are basically the anal pros of the industry right now, I’m really looking forward to seeing what they make next and I can’t wait to hopefully get my hands on more of their products in the coming months.

The presentation was lovely. It had an outer cardboard sleeve with a glossy product shot on the front, a description on one side, a list of key features on the back along with some images of couples (I love that these shots included multiple sexualities and ethnicities as this felt very inclusive) and a diagram on the other side showing which area of the plug vibrates, which area rotates and how many settings each feature has. Under the cardboard sleeve there was a blue storage box with a magnetic side opening that lifted to reveal the remote control and a shiny metallic blue case. Inside this case I found the plug, charging cable and a guide to anal play. Underneath this storage case there was a multilingual user manual hidden away.

B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2

B-Vibe’s Rimming Butt Plug 2 is made from a luxurious silicone. It feels like top-notch, high-quality stuff and I cannot fault it at all. It’s of course latex and phthalate free, odourless, hypoallergenic and body safe. It has a delightfully soft, smooth finish with very little drag to it so I didn’t need as much lubricant as I thought I would. It is a medium-sized plug so lubricant is still essential, but not for the drag, more because of the size and the fact the anus doesn’t self lubricate. After use, rinse with warm soapy water and dry with a lint free cloth. It is splashproof so can be rinsed, but don’t submerge it in the bath or shower. I tend to avoid wetting the base where possible and spritz with cleaner and a semi damp cloth instead. Just be sure to check that the cleaner doesn’t contain alcohol or acetone beforehand.

The plug is rechargeable via a magnetic system. Simply attach the magnetic clip to the points on the base of the toy and the USB into a suitable port such as one you’d find on a laptop. There will be a flashing light to indicate that the toy is charging and a solid light once complete. It takes roughly two and a half hours to freshen up and this provides around ninety minutes of use in our experience when using the highest intensity consistently. The remote control on the other hand, is battery operated. It comes with a pre-installed CR2032 and you can access this by sliding the back off the remote. Remove the paper disc inside the battery compartment before use and remove the battery between uses to prolong its life.

You have two control options. Manual or via the remote. My partner and I tried out both and found the manual control to be difficult whilst being worn, so unless I plan to use the same vibration and rotation setting throughout a session without changing intensity then I opt for the control. If you would like to manually operate it though, the option is there. Just press the power button in the base quickly, wait for the light to flash to indicate its switched on, then push again to change the pattern. Press and hold for a few seconds to turn off. There are a total of nine modes available when using the manual control. This offers a couple of rotation only settings, a couple of vibration only settings and some mix and matches.

B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2Controlling via the remote is not as straight forward but it allows more range over the toys possibilities. To begin, turn the plug into standby mode by pressing the power button until it flashes. Then press the power (central) button on the remote. The base light will become solid once the control has been paired with the plug. There are plus and minus buttons on the control which control the intensity of the vibrations and/or the rotation speed. Press plus to increase and minus to decrease.

To change the vibration modes press the wave button. To turn the vibrations off altogether hold the wave button down for three seconds. To change the rotation function press the arrowed button. To stop the rotation press and hold this button for three seconds. To turn off, press and hold the power button on the plug and tap the power button on the remote. It also has a travel lock feature which can be activated by the controller or the base unit. Press and hold the plus and minus together for three seconds to lock/unlock that way or the power button on the plug for five seconds for manual locking.

At just under six inches in overall length and four and a half insertable, this plug is not super modest, but not huge either. It has just over five inches of girth at the widest point (just above the stem/neck) which makes it a comfortable size for intermediate players. I’d consider it a medium-sized plug, which is a great size for me with my experience level and doesn’t take much warming up to. A few moments of wearing the Booty Buddy can get me prepped to take this with no problems. I think it would be too large for a complete beginner, but B-Vibe now make the Novice plug which looks a bit smaller.

B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2There are six vibration modes on offer with the controller. One steady speed, a slow pulse, a wave, a fast pulsation, a rollercoaster of intensities and a hard to describe mode that was mostly high intensity pulsation. I prefer the steady speed, which will come as a surprise to no-one, but most were tolerable and I did enjoy the fifth setting. None of them were too buzzy for my tastes and all of the settings had decent strength even on the lowest intensity. I’d go as far as to say they had fantastic strength on the top intensity and definitely enough for my butts preferences.

I don’t need as much power internally (be that vaginally or anally) as I do clitorally, but I always welcome super strength when it’s available. This toy also has the rotation modes too, which tickles even more sweet spots. There are seven on offer; a left rotation, a right rotation, rotating left and right swiftly, rotating left then right slowly, rotating left then pausing and making a quick right rotation, a longer left rotation followed by a pause and right rotation and finally a rotation that speeds up and slows down again. My preference was again the steady settings and I honestly didn’t find much difference between which way it was turning.

I have wondered since the day I first saw the rimming plug how on earth it would be able to replicate the sensation of a tongue and whether it would be able to do it well. I think the B-Vibe Rimming Plug 2 is pretty close. I can’t vouch for the original, but I do think this version feels somewhat like the act itself. It moves a little faster than the average person’s tongue, but it feels fantastic. I can’t fault it. There’s stimulation being provided from the internal vibrations but also around the sphincter where the plug is rotating. The entrance of the butt has always been a sensitive and easily stimulated part of my body and this is the first toy that has actually worked this area into a frenzy. It’s more than just a simple filled or stretching sensation, it’s the movement that causes my body to contract and tighten around the plug.

B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2Does it feel good? Absolutely it does. It stimulates every sweet spot that’s known to me back there and I’ve found myself turning to this toy an awful lot of late. I’ve found it comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time and the base is exceptionally sturdy.

I can wear this during PIV to help me reach an orgasm faster and I don’t even need a clit vibe in conjunction with it as I have done with regular vibrating plugs in the past. This provides all the added sensation I could ever need. It doesn’t get in the way during penetration as the base isn’t huge, but it is wide enough to prevent travel and give me peace of mind.

B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug 2I would agree with anyone who says that this is a wonderful couples toy. I personally wouldn’t wear it out and about as its unfortunately not the quietest plug on the market, but for use around the house and bedroom I absolutely love it. My partner does too. He loves to be in control of the remote and surprise me with different modes and randomly turn features on and off as he pleases to keep me on my toes. It has given me nothing but pleasurable experiences so far and the noise level is one of the only things I dislike about it.

Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this plug to anyone who can handle the size and wants to explore the sensation of being rimmed. It may not be exactly like the real thing, but it’s close enough and offers an experience a regular butt plug can’t. I have had no issues reaching orgasm with the B-Vibe Rimming Plug 2 and I will definitely be looking into trying some more of their products at some point. I’ve now got my eyes on the Novice, Trio and Beads but I’m sure I’ll be wanting their whole range if my next experience is as positive as this one. As a final thought, I think this plug was a major success and I can’t wait to see whether they can top this in the future.

Review: The Butters Original All Natural Lube

Oil based lubes and I have not gotten along well in the past, but I’ve heard a lot of great things about The Butters. It has been described by some of my fellow bloggers as a “sex toy testers dream product”, so naturally I had to get my hands on a tub and see for myself. It doesn’t look like a typical lube and that’s because it isn’t. Each tub has been handmade rather than mass-produced and the ingredients are all natural as the name suggests (you can see the full list in the quick review). The Butters are a proudly queer, poc owned brand and this resonated hard with my partner. I believe he was sold on this company from the moment he spotted the black lives matter hashtag on the front of the tub. As a black man himself, he’s incredibly supportive of poc businesses especially when they relate to something he’s passionate about such as body-safety.

It comes in a bunch of different sized tubs but I received the size that Peepshow Toys stock which is the 8oz. It features a bright yellow label that reads “free of scents, dyes, sugar, glycerin, sweeteners, parabens, silicone, alcohol, gluten, phthalates and bullshit”. I particularly love that last one as who wants a lube that contains bullshit? Certainly not me. It also has a statement from the creator on the back that reads “my lube has been called the best lube you’ll ever use and not just by me. It’s super long-lasting, softens insides, moisturizes outsides, feels lush and helps keep your ph even. It’ll even help prevent yeast infections. No it’s not a miracle. It’s the butters.” I couldn’t wait to put it to the test after reading that encouraging sales pitch.

When I opened up the tub for the first time, I immediately noticed the colour. Yellow. Most lubricants are clear or white, but this one actually resembles butter. I guess that’s fitting considering the brand name. It dissipates into a clear form once it has begun to be rubbed into the skin and absorbed. I was expecting to not like this product when I first placed it into the palms of my hands as I picked up on a minor greasy texture. I’m not really fond of this with anything I put on my body, but particularly lubes. However this soon subsided once I had started massaging it into my skin and it left no sticky residue afterwards.

The Butters All Natural Lube can be used with numerous sex toy materials including silicone, glass, wood and ceramic. It can also be used on leather and pvc items, as-well as lamb skin and polyurethane. It is not recommended for items made from jelly, rubber, cyberskin, tpe/tpr, abs plastic and latex. I have used it on silicone and glass dildos with no problems whatsoever and found no residue on the surface of either after use. I preferred using it with silicone as I found it removed almost all of the drag from the material and made it glide so much easier into the body. It’s a gem of a lubricant to use with bigger toys like the Primal Hardwere Fluffer.

As a lubricant for sex, I tried it for both vaginal and anal penetration. It was nice enough vaginally, but I felt that it shined the most during anal play. It provides the perfect level of cushioning and comfort for back door sessions. My partner is above average in girth and length so anal can be somewhat uncomfortable without a good lube and a ton of warm-up but this lube is a game changer. I don’t know if anything can ever come close to how this feels again. Just a small amount of this creamy, luxurious goodness is more than enough to get the job done. It lasts absolutely ages and we have not needed to top up at all so far.

This product is not just a personal lubricant. It has a ton of other uses. The ones that creator Jerome has listed on his website are as follows:

  • Hair and Skin Conditioner
  • Ashiness Eraser
  • Massage Lotion
  • Face Cleanser
  • Make-up Remover
  • Wood and Leather Cleaner
  • Hot Oil Treatment
  • Shaving Cream
  • Beard Conditioner
  • Skin Protector
  • Tattoo Aftercare

But I am sure there are multiple other uses we don’t even know about yet. I personally found it great for my dead ends, cracked heels and dry skin. I’ve used it as an overall body moisturizer, massage product and a shaving cream so far. It was amazing as a shaving cream. It’s super thick so the razor does need to be rinsed under running water more often than it would with the thinner lotions, but it gets the job done a lot better than I anticipated. If I finish up with Earthly Body’s Miracle Oil I have legs that can compete with a Venus advert.

The Butters Original All Natural Lube has a subtle aroma that’s quite hard to pinpoint. I asked a couple of other people for their opinion on the scent and it seems that the consensus was just oil-like. One person said it was more of a cooking oil smell than a relaxing massage oil smell, but all agreed that it wasn’t unpleasant. It’s barely even detectable unless it’s held very close to the face. Taste wise, I can’t comment as I didn’t try it but my partner said that it’s not bad. It doesn’t really have a taste according to him, but he isn’t too fond of the texture on his tongue.

Overall, I think Jerome is a genius. He has created a marvellous product and completely changed my mind about ruling out oil based lubes. I would put this product on a pedestal alongside Sliquid’s Satin and Pjur’s Original Bodyglide as I like it that much. The only downside that I could find is that it comes in tub which means you need to wash your hands thoroughly before dipping your hands back in to the pot to avoid contaminating it with bacteria or bodily fluids. A tube may be more convenient but could bump up the price slightly. Jerome works hard to keep his products affordable stating that he prices his items at the price he’d wish to pay for them. I think that’s integrity at its finest. I would be happy however to pay a little bit extra for a tube that is more sanitary.
