Review: Tantus The Vamp

Posted on by

I was surprised, yet impressed, at how fast the delivery came. I had FedEx at my door within a week of dispatch notification, which is excellent service. The package was as unassuming as Tantus advertise, with the only tell-tale sign of the contents being the legally required packing slip. The packaging for The Vamp itself was typical Tantus fashion, a simple, sturdy cardboard box with a see-through window and product information on the back. It’s understated, but classic and all that’s really necessary.

The Vamp is made from Tantus’s unique formula of 100% ultra-premium silicone. This formula is completely body-safe and free from phthalates and latex. It’s eco-friendly, non-toxic and hypoallergenic, as-well as being bleachable, boilable and even dishwasher-safe. I generally stick to toy cleaner and water for everyday cleaning, but I have placed The Vamp on the top rack of the dishwasher when I wanted a deep, thorough clean. I would recommend doing this regularly if you’re using this toy anally or switching between orifices or partners. As this toy is made from silicone, I’d advise you to only use water-based lubricant. If you’re all out and only have hybrid or silicone lube, do a patch test on the base of the toy first to see how the material reacts.

I received my Vamp in Purple Haze, which is Tantus’s signature purple shade and it’s incredibly gorgeous. I usually prefer toys in colours other than pink and purple, but for Tantus, I can make an exception. It has a glorious glossy finish, which makes it even more appealing to the eye, but attracts every particle of dust and cat hair around it. It’s almost impossible to keep the lint from attaching itself to the shaft of The Vamp, so washing before each use is incredibly important.

Regarding dimensions, I would say that this toy falls into the medium category, although it leans more towards the large side. It’s not quite size-queen material, although this could be a great warm up toy for people who enjoy stretching themselves and pushing their limits. It’s not a warm-up toy for me though, as I need to use something smaller beforehand to accommodate the girth. It offers up 5.5″ inches around the widest point, which is the coronal ridge, and around 5″ inches across the shaft. This might not sound huge, but the head is above average size and can take me a few minutes to build up to. The length is no problem as it falls in my comfortable range with just under 7″ insertable inches.

I think the firmness is the main reason why The Vamp’s girth feels more overwhelming than some of the larger, softer toys that I have. I wasn’t really expecting this toy to feel so sturdy and robust, but it’s one of the firmer Tantus toys in my collection. I wasn’t expecting it to be soft, by any means, but I was expecting perhaps a little squish to the material and it has none. The material has little give to it, which makes it feel more intense and larger than it is, but it still maintains some flexibility. It’s not flexible to the point of making the tip touch the base, but it’s flexible enough for minor, comfort adjustments.

When I used The Vamp for the first time, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It’s quite a straight toy, so it might not look like something you’d typically use to stimulate your g-spot, but I found that’s actually exactly what this toy is great at. The head is so prominent, noticeable and defined that it can easily get the job done. The ridge really grinds against my g-spot and I find myself not needing to do much more than a gentle thrusting or twisting to get myself to a few seconds away from orgasm state. When I reach this point, I tend to thrust the toy fast a few times, which makes the ridge seriously pull on my g-spot. It feels fantastic and manages to make me orgasm probably 8/10 times. This might not be the method that works for everybody, but it seems to work well for me.

The times it hasn’t worked for me have been when my partner was in control. It’s more likely when he uses it on me that the head catches on my pubic bone and I think this is purely down to the angle he’s using it at. We have tried different positions, but none seem to hit the right angle that I can hit when I’m controlling The Vamp myself. For that reason, I generally use this toy alone and keep it for the times my partner isn’t around. There are plenty of toys that feel better when he is in control, rather than me, so I guess this toy is just the opposite and that’s fine. It doesn’t change the way I feel about it, other than making it feel more special as it’s a toy that’s dedicated to one-on-one time.

I haven’t tried The Vamp for anal play, although it is safe to use this way due to the thick and sturdy base. It’s also compatible with harnesses for pegging and strap-on play. I think that it’s just going to be too firm for me to use anally at the moment. I struggled with the Godemiche Adam for the same reason and I am only attempting dual density dildos with larger measurements at the moment. I don’t want to rush myself into trying something this firm anally just for the purpose of a review, but I will update if and when I ever give it a go. For now, I’ll stick with the Flurry and Cush.

Overall, I am really pleased that I finally got my hands on this beautiful toy. It isn’t exactly what I’d thought it would be, but it turned out to be better. The firmness feels fantastic in combination with the head and defined ridge, but I was surprised it stimulated my g-spot as well as it did. The girth is perfect, I think any larger would have created an uncomfortable stretching sensation, especially if the firmness was the same, but as it is, it’s just filling. I think this toy is a lot of fun and although it’s not something I use daily due to the size, it does have its place in my bedroom 2 or 3 times a week when I have time for the warm-up.
